Booking by telephone was difficult and I was given contradictory information about how to pay a deposit. We had a junior suite, which provided basic accommodation. Suite is a misnomer, since most suites are let out as family rooms and contain families of 5. The environment... more

Great hotel - wonderful holiday!
I have just returned from the Athena Pallas Village and was a little aprehensive before going as there appeared to be not many reviews of this hotel on the web. I found one review and this stated that there were no English there and that it's in the middle of no where, not very good, etc. So let me set the record staright: 1) The majority of hotel guests are not English - there were around 15 other English people when we were there. However, the staff were very friendly and made you feel just as welcome. We actually preffered it as it wasn't your typical English holiday where it's full of O'Neils bars and all day breakfasts!! 2) The hotel is beautiful. It's set out in lovely grounds, rooms are cleaned everyday and are spacious and the air conditioning is very good. 3) The food is good. Breakfasts have just about everything you could want! Evening meal - if staying half board the buffet in main restuarant can get repetitive but what most people didn't know is you could use your 5 euros from your dinner tokens towards the roof top restautant and taverna too (the views from Roof top one are lovely!). Since most main meals were only around 6 euros so it was worth paying the extra euro or 2 to have a nice laid back meal and be served at your table. 4) Swimming pools - there are 2 - one by reception and another at the opposite side of hotel grounds - some people we met didn't even realise there were 2! The second pool is a large pool with ample sun beds. We did not need to get up early to put down towels (probably due to less english being there!) 5) Location - yes hotel is not in main centre but shuttle bus will take you and pick you up from sandy beaches (the one by hotel is a bit too rocky), to the local centre and a short ferry (2 euros) will take you to Porto Callas (lovely harbour there). With this hotel you are a bit isolated but around you there are amazing places to visit - you just need to be bothered to find out about them and be prepared to make the effort - if you do you will be rewarded by finiding the most peaceful beaches, or even your own beaches, lovely scenery (Halkidiki is very lush and green), and unforgettable greek tavernas! Would recommend this hotel to people who want peace and queit, relaxing time and a true greek holiday - this is not for anyone who wants the greek version of Blackpool!
