Dislike:
1.We got room with look on the high road and it was very noisy all the time, day and night, nightmare. We asked to be moved to other side rooms, and we were denied even there where empty rooms and we had small kid.The explanation was these rooms are for any case if someone come straight, but most of the clients that came through tour operators can have only noisy rooms.
2.Hotel is on the top of Hanioti, just next to main road of Halkidiki, and it is about 500 meters from the center and nearest beach, not 300m as they say.
3.Food is nice and delicious, but almost the same every day(salami, cheese, spaghetti, pork meet, potatoes). There are no fruits served, no ice cream, no drinks....Also,half board arrangement our tour operator Iguana Tours - Skopje sold to us as Swed table which is ridiculous.
4. There is like small kitchen in the room, but stoves are disconnected from power for people who are on Half Board, and it is prohibited to use them.Only self catered arrangements can use stoves on rooms.
Like:
1. Fair nice, clean rooms, nice entrance, but only top flour which is newest.
2. Warm water all the time.

My husband and I have just returned from our first visit to Hanioti. The Tropical Hotel offers clean and comfortable rooms with good shower/hot water etc facilities. The beds are probably the best we have had in our travels throughout Greece. The rooms are kept spotless,(as are the rest of the hotel facilities)The owners and staff are helpful and polite, although we sensed that they were a little bit 'distant' due to the fact that we didn't really use the hotel facilities during our stay! We like to explore and try different bars and restaurants etc when we are on holiday..we also love the beach rather than sitting by the pool!!
The only really negative point of the actual hotel accommodation was the high level of road noise. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was only about 50 feet away from the main highway. It wasn't just ordinary traffic noise either...rather more like camping at the side of the M25 on a Bank Holiday weekend or Silverstone during Grand Prix week!!!!!As we were only there for a week we tolerated it...especially as we were pleased with the room etc..However, if it had been a two week stay I think we would have had to ask to be moved. If you had children with you I feel you'd have a big problem getting them to sleep..most days the traffic disturbed us from about 5a.m....a couple of nights it was so bad that we were sitting on the balcony with a cup of tea at 3.30 a.m..lorries hurtling past at god knows what speeds and lots of cars flying past with music pounding etc!!!!
Hanioti is rather different to our usual Greek holiday destinations...It has a big selection of bars and restaurants mainly situated around 'The Square'...Only a couple of bars that are situated by the sea, which were very pricey and none too impressive. We also felt that it lacked the real 'Greek' feel of tradition and culture that we love!!Lots of English bars/music/quiz nights/karaoke and food available if thats what you want..good for families with young children etc. Check out the price lists for your drinks too..we couldn't believe how much they varied..anything from 4 to 10 euros for the same two drinks!!! Food not too bad but quite pricey in some places...We found that the 'Tropicana'(situated on the square) offered the best value for money..Good freshly cooked food, great service and a nice lot of people running the restaurant!!!
Overall..not a bad week away but think that for future holidays we will stick to the Islands..Just to point out that we hired a car( very reasonable from Hanioti Car Rental) to visit the other side or the peninsular and found it completely different..quieter,more traditional and a lot cheaper so if we return back to that region we'd opt for there.

We have just quite literally come home and we enjoyed our holiday so much at the Tropical.... Sakis and Vicky the owners really make this place special for you and treat you as part of the family... Our rep was hardly ever there so in most hotels this would mean there would be no special nights going on, however at this hotel there is something going on pretty much every night... From quiz's to Karaoke... the bar doesn't really have a closing time so whatever time you come back from the town you are guaranteed pretty much to be able to still get a drink... i wouldn't recommend it to families with small children as it is noisy but to families with teenagers this is good fun... The town is quite literally a five min walk at the most and when you get into the square it has such a lovely vibe to it... you can just sit outside a cafe/restaurant (which there are plenty of) and watch the people go by... the locals are very friendly also.. The beach is also only a stones throw from the square so all in all it was a lovely holiday... just what we wanted... thank you again to everyone at the hotel we were very happy with it...

We have just returned from our Holiday in this resort and it was the 4th time I have visited.
I have to say this hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in!
The location is perfect only a 10 minute stroll to the beach and 5 from the centre where is enough restaurants and bars to do a new one each night for a month!
Tons of supermarkets and shops are near by and the prices in this resort ARE CHEAP!!!!!
A 3 course meal with a drink will cost you around 20 euros pp max and the best restaurant is the Kassandra if you sit on the roof top.
There is an AMAZING seafood restaurant oppeosite the bakery and organic shop too very well priced.
Billys bar is the best bar by a mile. Its family run and the cocktails are the strongest we had!
The hotel is clean, the pool is bigger than it looks in the pictures, there is a shallow end not just deep, the staff are lovely and the facilities in the room are better than any of the self catering I have stayed in yet!
This hotel deserves SO much more than 2 stars.
Just watch out for the barman if he likes you!

After booking this holiday I then decided to have a look at the reviews. I was distraught! The negative comments people had put on there frightened me half to death!
We arrived at the Tropical Apartments to an extremely warm welcome and was shown to our rooms, which were spotless. The kitchenette area was more than adequate for what you might need, being on your holiday for 2 weeks. Rooms were cleaned every day and there was clean bed linen and towels every three days. The pool was clean and well looked after, being checked and cleaned every night. (Whoever moaned about leaves and petals falling in the pool need telling about themselves!)
The pool bar (ran by Salis and George) was perfect, especially when you didn't want to do much apart from laze around the pool. Both drinks and snacks were lovely and great value for money, again catering for your every need.
If you feel like a change, the beach is just 5 minutes away having free sun loungers and parasols (if you buy 1 drink from the bar) and crystal clear waters......Purrrrrfect!
5 minutes walk the other way and you will find Hanioti Square where there are restaurants and bars to suit everyone's taste. There are also plenty of supermarkets around where you can purchase almost anything so you're never stuck.
Stakis and Vicky (Managers) and Anastasio (Bar Tender) are absolutely lovely people who can't do enough to please, warm, caring, polite, friendly, what more can I say!
I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone, both myself and my partner had a wonderful 2 weeks there and look forward to returning in the not too distant future. Please do not hesitate in booking these apartments, the holiday is complete value for money, and you will love every minute!

Anyone thinking of booking a holiday at The Tropical Studios, you will have a great time. All the staff are really friendly and helpful. Sakis has a dry sense of humour. Vikki is fantastic. Anastasio is brilliant. Great 2 week holiday in Hanioti. Sakis if you read this contact me by email garethpe@aol.com. As we want to come back as soon as possible if you have a room for both Sue and I and just one teenage daughter.
Cheers

We have had great time in tropical Studios.. Everything goes well. Bar was fantastic, lot of choice of drinks, cocktails.. Hanioti resort have a lot of restaurant, shops, sky tv bars. We recommended fast food Garry's King of gyros, good price, very clean service..We been only one week, but we will go there again soon. Room was a good size, cleanness not perfect but acceptable. If you like nice atmosphere you have to go there. Very warm welcome from Vicky and Anastasios. Hanioti have good offer. Beach not very sandy but with good shoes you will be ok.. That was our first holiday and very good choice with First Choice!

My girlfriend and I just returned from a lovely break to Greece having stayed at Tropical Studios. We read all the below reviews prior to leaving and we feel that we must set the record straight on some things. We picked this hotel because we were on a tight budget. We did not expect the hotel to be in great shape and we did not expect the service to be excellent. We went with open minds and knew that this was not a 4* hotel! However, we were both pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It must be said that Sakis & Vicky (managers), Anastastios (the Barman and all round entertainer) and Salla (Pool Bar lady) made this holiday one to remember. I know that this has been repeated several times below but it really did make all the difference to us. We were made welcome and treated as friends not customers. The room was clean enough and modest but the shower room was under par and we did not like the small shower cubicle. Our room gave us cover from the busy main road and we got a glimpse of the pool. In the evening, the sun hovered behind us and gave us some much welcomed shade on our balcony. We got a double bed despite being advised that the hotel only had twin beds. Our room was cleaned daily but towels and bed linen was only changed once a week. A safe as well as air conditioning is available at an extra cost. Some reviews suggested that the pool was dirty and not safe. I find this to be very unfair. Yes, the pool is small and quite deep (1.8 metres in the shallows) but it was clean and the pool lights did work. One review also suggested that drinks and snacks at the pool bar were reasonably priced, this is not the case. Snacks included salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, crisps and ice cream. All cocktails were 6 Euros but a litre of beer only cost 2.50 Euros. I found myself drinking a lot of beer! This is a self catered hotel and as such, a two minute walk to local supermarkets meant that we bought food for cheap and prepared it in our kitchenette in our room. Furthermore, those who are put off by the size of the pool can take pleasure in knowing that the beach in only a five minute walk away and has crystal blue waters. The busy and lively square is only five minutes away and has lots of shops, restaurants and bars (some stay open until 3am). However, there are no nearby clubs and you'll need to take a taxi to the next village for this (10 Euros). The hotel hosted several entertaining events such as Karaoke and Quiz night but the best of all was Greek night. For a small price of 17 Euros, you will be dined around the pool, listen to live bands and then partake in Greek dancing into the early hours of the morning. I know it sounds cheesy and I am not one to enjoy such things but we had a great time. Anastastios is one of the funniest and most unique guys you will ever meet. The hotel hosts a nice and warm atmosphere. We met and made many friends and found the hotel mostly attracts a lot of young couples looking for a break in the sun. I would recommend this hotel if you are on a budget, share an open mind and are out to enjoy a holiday and not dwell on the minor things. Tropical Studios ticks most of the right boxes.

We have just finished a wonderful two weeks at the Tropical Studios. On arrival, despite a five hour delay, we were warmly received by Vicky on Reception. We were quickly despatched to our room which we found to be very clean and well proportioned with a view over the pool area.
The pool area was a decent size with ample amount of sunbeds and areas to sit. The pool and pool area were cleaned daily. The pool bar offered good value for money for both drinks and snacks with a large Mythos costing E2.50.
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a memorable one. The couple of minor problems we encountered were dealt with immediately and with the minimum of fuss.
The hotel bar was lively with a variety of theme nights ie. Greek Night, karaoke and quiz night. Guests were encouraged to join in but were under no pressure to do so. The atmosphere made it very easy to forge new friendships with both guests and staff. Anyone looking for a good time with value for money across the board, this is the place to stay.
A big thank you to Stakis, Vicky, Anastasio, George and all other staff behind the scenes for making our stay such a memorable one.
We will definitely be returning and shall recommend others to come to the Tropical Studios.

My boyfriend and I recently visited Tropical Studios in Hanioti and our first impressions were very good. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionists and were very pleased with our room, it was very clean and had all the necessary facilities (including hairdryer!).
The level of cleanliness was maintained and sheets changed daily, and towels around 3 times during the week. They had a decent selection of Television channels, including Sky News, The Discovery Channel, and MTV. The balcony area was also very presentable.
The pool area was small, but this was expected due to pictures we had seen. This however was not reflected in sun bed availability, as long as you are up by a decent hour you have a good chance of getting one of the 'better' spots.
The pool itself was very cold because the sun faced the hotel, and this in turn caused a shadow over the water. During our time the pool had been topped up with chlorine and was very green for around 2 days. The pool lights had come loose from their fittings and were floating on the surface, but were never switched on.
We also felt the pool was not regularly cleaned, and often would have a variety of things floating on top (e.g. flies, leaves etc). The pool bar was reasonably priced with a pint of larger around 3 Euros. The bar maid was very friendly (and to my surprise still maintained her sanity despite listening to the same CD on repeat all day every day).
The atmosphere around the pool was good, and very relaxing. Whilst the pool could be improved, it is nice to simply cool yourself down, but if you plan to spend a long time in the water, the beach is a ten-minute walk and is beautiful. It is perfect for all level of swimmers and a lot of small fish making it perfect for snorkelling.
The hotel bar was modern and well kept. It was busy most nights and they had numerous events including a Quiz, Greek Nights and unfortunately for us... Karaoke.
On the Sunday night we were woken at 1 in the morning by a terrible rendition of YMCA. We were not even on the same floor as the bar so for those who were, their ears must have been ringing for the rest of the night. Due to the fact we had wanted to be up early and make the most of our time in Hanioti, my boyfriend decided to complain.
He went up stairs and simply asked when the music would be turned off. The response he got from the brunette receptionist was "We only turn it off when people leave.” She informed him that for many people it was their last night, which my boyfriend took offence to as he interpreted this as she was trying to make him feel guilty for being kept up!
Once he had complained in fairness the music was turned off but this was at our cost.
The following morning the friendly "Hello's" and smiles were no longer apparent and from then on we were ignored simply because we had asked what time the music would be turned off, leaving us feeling very uncomfortable.
2 nights later we visited a restaurant, which may have been under the same management as our hotel, with some of the same staff. We again felt very uncomfortable but hoped to have a nice quiet meal. Unfortunately the food was terrible and thought this may emphasise, in their opinion, we were difficult customers. So as to compensate we left a generous tip.
The next day at the hotel the friendly facade began again. This did not surprise us and cemented our inclination that they were simply money driven? If you were not one of the customers who sat in the reception bar spending your money, the level of friendliness soon dropped.
On the upside, the cleaners and other bar staff were pleasant and very helpful, seemingly kept busy all day, whereas management seemed happy to sit with the customers round the pool socialising.
On the whole the hotel itself was very nice, and for the price we paid we were more than happy with the accommodation. The management let the whole place down, but as long as you keep out of their way we very much recommend Tropical Studios.
The area was perfect for what we wanted; there is a small square with numerous restaurants and cocktail bars. It can get fairly busy in the evenings but this creates a nice environment. We highly recommend the Pizza Restaurant and Steak House, also Kelfos is head and shoulders above the rest for cocktails (Strawberry Margarita is worth going back for in itself!).
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Hanioti and would strongly recommend it for couples of all ages.

As long as you dont mind being the minority go it is fun. We were unaware that the hotel has 75% Eastern European guests but having said that we still had a good time. Met some nice people and did our own thing in the main. The rooms were adequate although not really good enough for self catering as there were not enough facilities available hence you had to really eat out. Sakis and his family do look after you though and special mention to Georgi and Alex who also helped us have a good time. It is the first time we have stayed at a family run hotel and it makes you appreciate the hard work they have to do to keep things running smoothly. We have read a few moans like no shallow end well thats no worry if you can swim the pool is hardly olympic size. Leaves in the pool was another one please get a life they cant help the wind and nature can they the pool was cleaned every day. Yes the hotel is set up to maximise profit for instance the bar is situated so you must walk past it at night clever eh but fair play if you join in you wont want to walk past anyway. Watch out too for Bella the mad bulldog who will bound up onto your sunbed to say hi what a lovely dog she is. The only suggestion i put to them would be to have an internet facility at the hotel one which i believe sakis is considering. Go with an open dont expect a huge 5 star hotel but do go with fun in mind and the family and staff will provide you with it in abundance. Will we return as the allocation for the Brits is going down again next year i think we will for sure but not sure when.
The resort is very expensive in the main so caution is advised. If you dont mind roughing it in fast food take away bars then you can get 1 pint of Amstel for just 1 Euro bargain! The food was of good quality too. Sadly though the resort in our opinion will cater less and less for the Brits with the only British Cafe closing too. A few resorts in the area are slowly going towards Eastern European guests with the Brits and the Germans slowly pulling away and i think it is a shame and it will be to their loss. Other resorts have already become ghost towns we were told. and although the resort is still fairly busy it is only us spending the money in the main.
