First of all i suggest that you ignore the negative reviews for this hotel, as with everything everyone has different opinions! People have different expectations and over criticise. It is probably a 4* rather than a 5* but still a lovely hotel. Have just got back from a... more

For a cheap (£425 per week all inclusive) holiday with plenty of sun in early May, you could do much worse than choose this hotel. While I agree that it is not 5 star, externally I feel it to be 4 star and internally certainly three. You have to have an open mind in terms... more

As relatively seasoned travellers to Tunisia over the last 25 years, this hotel was disappointing to say the least,it is not 5star(although the facilities will say otherwise). We have been in better 3star hotels than this in Hammamet,Port El Kantoui,Djerba, etc.The hotel... more

I'm a young lady and I stayed at this hotel for a week on my own, and apart from two days of rain it was o.k!. The hotel is advertised as 5 Star, but I'd rate it at 3. It's a nice big hotel, but my room wasn't ready when I got there, and I had no rep to help me check in (he... more

HOW WRONG PEOPLE CAN BE
I’ve never felt compelled to write a review of my holiday but feel that on my latest excursion I found a massive misjudgement by many people on one place. First off let me explain, I am along with my wife, your average 25yr old couple. We work hard in our jobs and like to enjoy the benefits of our labour by going on holiday like anyone else. I am so glad we booked the Vinnci Nour Palace BEFORE reading the reviews. I cannot believe the difference to what we were treated too as to what I was reading prior to leaving. For people to complain about anything of the Vinnci Nour Palace tells me how shallow they really are. If you go to the Vinnci Nour Palace YOU WILL be treated to 5* all round experience. YOU WILL have a great time. YOU WILL want to go back. I know this review will get dissected if not totally removed, should that happen I will make sure when people google Vinnci Nour Palace, they will see a website with an unbiased and true review of a holiday that your average British holiday maker will enjoy 100% and more (Email me for any questions you have about the holiday). I’m sorry to those that didn’t like the place but then maybe you shouldn’t have expected champagne, caviar, silk bedsheets, and posh upperclass yar yar types.
A lot better than expected
We were a bit worried after reading the negative comments but we were pleasantly surprised when we got there.99% of the staff speak very good english, which puts most of us shame!Room was clean and tidy and done every day, impressive sea view too.The pool is fantastic and the inside pool is good too.Plenty to do for kids, the animation team see to that.Games room, bowlin and golf are just a few things that there is.The only thing that lets this hotel down for me was the food, but at the same time my girlfriend enjoyed it,so dont go expecting all the stuff you get here!Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it here to anybody****
Good Hotel, Friendly Staff & Great For A Relaxing Holiday
Good Hotel Room was spacious, clean and tidy. Seaview is really a view on the beautiful pool and you may not necessarily have the sun on your balcony. There was entertainment every evening in the bar (live saxofone music), various shows and a disco afterwards. There are organised sports events such as (auqa-)aerobics, gymnastics, table tennis, bow and arrow etc. every day. It is scheduled daily. Food was rather a disappointing as it tasted rather bland. Also, the service in the restaurant could be improved but then again they have a lot of guests to serve (the hotel has 500 rooms). Friendly staff The staff were very friendly and spoke multiple languages, including English! Hat off for the 'animation' team who were always very friendly and worked hard to entertain people. They were the ones who would join in on sports events and would even dance with you in the disco. Great For A Relaxing Holiday Tunisia was not really my choice of travel destination as I am more interested in culture and fantastic food. However, I must say that my weeks stay in this hotel and country was very relaxing even though I did the two day Sahara dessert trip and excersised every day. You'll feel safe walking the streets and enjoy the shopping experience (as I never got hassled or pushed into buying anything and you are free to walkaround without the shop assistant following you as if you're about to steal something). Tunisia is very cheap! Some advice... Keep some Tunisian Dinars for when you return to the airport so that you can spend it on food and drinks or else you end up spending your £'s and that can be rather expensive. The prices in the shops at the airport are in Euros. All in all the hotel is a good choice especially considering the cheap deals that are out there. However, if you're used to spicy exotic food, Tunisia will not satisfy you there. So there are some pay offs!
We loved it!
I read some terrible reviews of this hotel on here before I went on holiday and had a horrible dread in my stomach as we set off. However, I found that this was a lovely place to stay and would definitely go again. The staff were very friendly and ashamed that I only speak English and school French I appreciated that their English was good. (About 1/3 of the guests were British). The hotel building is impressive inside and rooms are comfortable and clean. The main restaurant got a bit manic at peak times and the buffet could be better organised but the food tasted good and there was plenty of choice - my teenagers didn't complain once. The animation team really want you to enjoy yourself and they are all enthusiastic and friendly, even with their long hours. The outdoor pool was cold but once you got in it was gorgeous. If you are going here ignore the bad reviews and enjoy yourself! (2nd-9th April)
not as bad as expected
Quite surprised to find how lovely the hotel was. Yes, they prefer Germans, yes, it's not 5*, bedrooms getting a bit tatty, but overall, we had a lovely time. The food, actually, i thought should be commended, considering they were catering for so many. It wasn't such a big loss having a 'garden view' room, we looked over rough land with roaming camels, and watched the sun set from our balcony every night. Think about a trip to sousse...direct train from outside the hotel, very rude locals though, but was hilarious, even with kids in tow. If you're booking, have a look at medhotels.com and thomsonfly.com, and you might be able to save yourself a packet. I foolishly did that after and figured we could have saved 185quid. Another thing, train from airport goes directly to the hotel as well, for a bout 50p! don't bother with first class unless you like hanging with a bunch of germans. Outside pool ws lovely, as was running along the beach every morning. taxis to mahdia 3dina, don't pay more! surprisingly easy to navigate the country. oh, and if you get the nouvelair flight, then be delighted, as you get a free meal on board!!!!
exceeded expectations
just back from a good holiday. Having read some of the negative feedback we were rather apprehensive. we arrived just b4 midnight and were greeted with drinks and a fast efficient checkin and a meal specially laid on even at that late hour. Food quality was excellent, good choice of salads. meat n chicken dishes n lots of lovely vegetables, buffet style. Staff very friendly and hotel has good facilities, lovely indoor pool for this time of year. We had a suite which was not luxurious but large with balcony. Best rooms overlooking the pool facing the sun. Beach not too clean but plenty of space within the hotel complex to sunbathe etc. Market at Mahdia well worth a visit. All in all, excellent value 4 money, not our 5 star but definitely a 4.
Hotel nice, shame about the resort
Here is the real inside guide to this place........ when you get off the plane you get put on a hi-ace van with characters out of a bond movie or indiana jones. they drive you through a town called bagdahdi which will scare the life out of you. dont worry abut this. ...the rest of the country is just a big a (---)-hole. hotel is very nice, the bathrooms is like a hostel in australia, the dinner is a buffet mostly of rabbit every night. locally you can go on quad bikes for 2 hours for about a tenner, good fun and well worth it. the alternative is to take a wander around the local town of mahdia......suggest you bring a knife. recommend you take the 2 day sahara trip which lets you see the rest of the country and see what a tunisian 3 star hotel looks like.....jesus!!!!! besides it will get you away from mahdia for 2 days. enjoy you trip!! were never going back!!!
Not bad for what we paid but not what i would call 5 star
We have just got back from Tunisia - Vincci Nour Palace in Madhia. Rooms were large and spacious and comfortable. Could be cleaner we had coffee stains on the table and they were still there after the maid had cleaned the room, telephone all dusty, still crumbs on the floor (we have a 2 year old boy so got pretty messy in the room). Food was pretty bland and not much choice for kids. Reception staff and most of waiters not very friendly just did their job whereas i have stayed at plenty of 4 and 5 stars and even some 3 where they bend over backwards to make your stay more enjoyable. Room service and hotel beach restaurant very expensive. If you walk up the beach (turn right from this hotel beach) there is a cheap and cheerful restaurant only 3 star but loveley and cheap food with a smile. Mahdia itself is pretty quiet. The castle is good to see purely because the views from the top of it are stunning. There is a nice little restaurant just across from the castle (I think it is called Cafe Sidi) and the food was pretty good there but the views from the cafe were fab-you could sit there all day. Indoor pool was great a godsend-loveley and warm although changing facilities could be improved. Overall as we got a cheap deal it was ok but if i had had to pay the brochure price for this "5" star i would have been very disappointed.
Lovely hotel, good facilities
Having just returned from a week at this 5* hotel in Feb. we can recommend it for a relaxing week away from it all in the middle of the English winter. Service was always excellent, the rooms were clean and spacious, and there was plenty to do ...lovely indoor swimming pool (although changing facilities were limited to one tent-like structure at the side), good tennis courts, a ten-pin bowling alley adjacent to the hotel. Children's activites were also on offer ..hosted by Fatima, who also ran the action-packed children's disco every evening. Food was plentiful and varied, offering everything from Tunisian to English fare. Outside the hotel, you could walk along the beach in both directions for miles, and the Metro station was opposite the hotel for trains to MAhdia and Sousse. Anything negative? If you want to make use of the hairdressing facilites just make sure that you speak fluent French before submitting to the scissors and bleach...a request for blonde highlights resulted in a head of dark grey and brown hair.
Not 5* but nevertheless......
Not 5* but nevertheless we had a an enjoyable stay. The service is friendly and efficient. The bedrooms are very clean but just comfortable and could use a few more 'at home' touches. The allowance into the Country is 1 litre of spirits each; be warned, the mini-bar has only a couple of cans of local beer and imported spirits over the bar are very expensive. Local wine is available; described as good value...we thought it poor with some so dry its undrinkable. The food is what lets the place down most overall it's poor..exception is the omelettes/fried eggs in the morning..made to order. There are things to do at the resort....costs more though except sunbeds. Thought the golf was seriously overpriced and then you have to rent the clubs!! We found the man in the hotel shop to be ok. He could take the 'no' for an answer; eventually. Tipping is expected everywhere and the harrassment outwith the hotel is terrible. Watch out for the extorting tour guides in the public attractions...they will cost you!!! Corruption is evident, take care. The Country itself is not especially attractive; but the culture is pleasant and laid back. We got out and about quite a bit and met very many lovely people and overall it is a cheap holiday. But the need to tidy up is critical; what a mess lies about. For us definately not an experience we would repeat.
