Just back from Santa Rosa , this is not a hotel its a basic apartment holiday , food very average, you dont have to wear a white hat and call yourself a chef to heat beans and put chicken filets on a grill. Rooms also basic maybe cleaned 5 days in 7 but would not say the 3 min spent by cleaners is enough.Have never slept on such poor quality beds.Pool area not to bad but need a few more sunshades, so if you are happy with poor food a lousey nights sleep and average rooms this is the place for you.

good 3 star standard hotel

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Santa Rosa Apartments in Costa Teguise. The hotel was of a good 3 star standard. Towels/bedding changed regularly and room kept clean. Opted for H/B - food good quality and varied. Large spacious pool with plenty of sunbeds available. The only negative side is that all the entertainment in the hotel is in Spanish as 2/3rds of the people staying here are Spanish. The hotel is situated in the Playa Bastian area of Costa Teguise approx. 15/20 minutes walk to the centre of the resort which may be a problem for some people, but there are taxis which are cheap. The Playa Bastian area has several bars/restaurants and we found it preferable to the centre of Costa Teguise. When we visited in the evening we found the centre lacking in atmosphere and bars etc., dotted here and there and some even closed or run down - maybe victims of the recession. However, on the plus side drinks, food etc., were very cheap!
I would personally recommend anyone visiting for the first time to stay for only one week as we found the resort somewhat limiting. Maybe if you hire a car for the duration of your trip there possibly would be more to see - in particular Timanfaya National Park - but we are not interested in volcanoes! We did visit Arrecife (the capital) and Puerto Del Carmen - Arrecife is 15 minutes on the bus and Puerto Del Carmen approx. 45 minutes - the bus stop is a five minute walk from the hotel complex. We did think maybe that Puerto Del Carmen may offer more for the tourist, but we did not visit in the evening.
Although we did enjoy the holiday it is not a resort we would consider returning to as we felt it was insufficient as a complete resort and lacked in some areas and there are nicer places to visit. I feel that we are people who appreciate scenery and Lanzarote for us is not scenic. However, we did speak to people who have returned time and time again - n.b. one mans' meat etc....

We arrived at Santa Rosa apartments on the 18th January, to which we were pleasantly surprised at how clean the complex was. We then got given the key to our bungalow it was close to the reception, and quite close to the pool, but it was also very close to the back of shops, bars and restaurants on the main street which we faced the back of them, all very brightly coloured painted. The good thing is that we didnt hear anything. The Children were very exicted about going to the pool, the sun was shining, on arriving at the pool it was freezing i mean ice cold the kids jumped in it made there head hurt it was awful despite being advertised as heated, we were advised that something had gone wrong with the pool and it was being fixed we were there for 14 days and it was still as cold on the last day, the management arrange for all the guests if they wanted to to go upto playa verde to use there pool (heated) which was nice. despite only have 1 day of ocnstant rain, and maybe a shower here and then and a bit of cloud the sun shone most of the holiday. Eating out was a nightmare most of the restaurants were empty, recommend el patio in the square and of course for a typical english pub meal steptoes. recommend the pool bar for breakfast we ate there every morning, thanks to Stephanie who was very pleasant and helpful. we had a really relaxing holiday the children met lots of english friends which was nice for them didnt see them most of the day. anyway would recommend santa rosa apartments for a break away at christmas. if any of the guys we met read this hello to all of you. kathrine, adie, kelci , kally & joe

we travelled as a foursome,i being the eldest at sixty.we arrived on december 4th.2008
and first impressions were favourable.the girl at check in was very helpfull and pleasant.we were shown to locality of our apartments which were basic but very spacious.
but i am afraid that was as good as it got!!
the majority of guests were spanish pensioners enjoying their freebie suplied by the spanish government.
the food in the restaurant smacked as freebie food with little selection and taste.
the evening entertainment consisted of the pensioners sat round a big screen watching spanish television.
then three very cloudy days into our holiday workmen started using heavy earth drilling equipment under our balcony and continued until our departure on the 11th.
in ten years of holidaying at this time of year in the canaries the santa rosa is at the bottom of our list.

  • Advice: i would tell them to go to playa blanca!!
  • Activities: even though we booked half board we ate out with any one of lani's restaurants being a good bet.

This was our 2nd visit to Lanzarote and to Santa Rosa and once again we were blown away with the standards of the apartments. Mostly the same staff this year as there was last year which to me suggests what a fantastic place they are to work for. Nothing is too much bother for them and they always have a smile on there faces. We had an evening flight on the way home and planned to get out of our pool wear and into our eskimo suits for coming back to scotland we went to reception to put our cases in and were advised that there was a courtesy room free of charge and we didn't prompt for it. The apartments were cleaned 5 days out of 7 one of the 2 days they had off was the day we arrived. The appartment once again was spotless and attention to detail was fantastic i.e. folding up phone chargers and putting shoes tidy little I know but makes a big difference. Costa Teguise itself is quite a quiet place well apart from the week we were there for all you scots out there and anyone else who enjoys live entertainment we would highly recommend scots and wry. Be prepared for a slagging but a very friendly family run bar and the food is proper home cooked heart warming food with TATTIE SCONES for breakfast. We enjoyed our holiday so much we arrived home late sunday night and we were looking on internet for next year on the monday to make a hat trick trip back this looks to be an annual religion now.

Just had a week away at this resort.
Was very impressed by the rooms, service and meals.
Rather quiet time of year to go. Many Spanish people around as older generation get 2 weeks away. Paid for by the state so i am led to believe. Maybe we could adopt the same policy in the UK for our senior citizens. Location was good. Not right in the town centre but within walking distance along the sea front. Rooms excellent and well maintained. Beds made everyday and clean towels every other. Good sized rooms and plenty of fresh water for bathing etc.. Good size balconies and some small villas are just superb. Close but private and independent from your neighbour. Food was good with selection varied and accommodated everybody. Pool area clean and plenty of sun beds, sunshades etc to use. Very friendly and warm welcome. Departure easy as well. Shower area to change if you want to before departure home. On bus route to capital. Good number of local bars for afternoon rest bite from the sun. Overall very impressed and would recommend to friends etc. Overall 8/10. Would return..

Surprise Holiday

We have just returned from a week's holiday at Santa Rosa which was a surprise 50th birthday treat for our friend. We were very impressed with the accommodation although like other reviewers could have done with aircon at times. We had a spacious one bedroom apartment which gave us the opportunity to make snacks and drinks whenever we wanted as well as using the restaurant for our breakfast and evening meal. NB Take kettle next time!! We found the choice of food very good - you are in Spain so don't expect "English" food although there was a very varied selection of hot food at breakfast including eggs, bacon (sometimes gammon steaks) and chipolata sausage. The chef was very obliging and cooked me eggs with a "runny" yolk when I asked him. OK so a couple of times the food was lukewarm but there was a microwave to sort that out. On a couple of occasions we wanted to eat out and were able to have lunch at the hotel instead of our evening meal. The rooms and grounds were immaculate and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back to Santa Rosa.

Me and my boyfriend went here and we have no complaints. The hotel was always clean, maid came in 8 days out of the 10 and the staff were friendly. Two beaches a 10min walk away, restuarants across the road and the taxis were so cheap you could go all over the island. Bus stop 2 mins away from the hotel and easy to get everywhere. Papagayo beach is a must see. Tropical fish swimming about (good for snorkelling). We loved the hotel and are planning to go back. Theres always someone in reception so if you need help they are there. One prob was the safe was playing up but they had it fixed in 30minutes of us reporting it. I've recommended Santa Rosa to everyone. It was so cheap and so much more than i thought it would be. Definately a place to stay i recon.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the apartments for 10 days in july.
We checked in and went to our room and was dissapointed.
We were given our apartment at the rear of the complex and thought it was very small.
We pulled the curtains apart to find three spanish men talking next to what i thought looked like a fuel tanker which was about three feet away from the window. They could see straight into the apartment.
Out of the Miniscule balcony at the other side was a bunch of rubbish bins set infront of a cocncrete building site background.
We went straight back to the reception; and after being told they were all booked up finally got it changed for a much bigger and nicer one looking over the pool (2015).
The following morning we went for breakfast to sit down to clap cold bacon, eggs and beans so we left to go to the bar round the corner and paid for a nice warm one!
In the evening we tried the food again which was not good as the smell put you off trying many things but chips and salad was the only thing we had just to try and get our moneys worth. The bar staff and food staff were, i thought, ignorrant and agressive.
The entertainment bar was empty and the entertainment was non existent.
Around the pool during the day was like a saga holiday, dead! We heard a lady welcoming noisy kids round the pool as she said it livened the place up a bit. No aircon in rooms, was severely hot.
We wont be going back there thanks! We did have a nice holiday though by getting out and eating out.

We are just back from the Santa Rosa apartments and I must say I was very impressed with the size of the room we got. We had only booked a one bedroom apartment for 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children). The entertainment within the complex was rubbish, we went to either Steptoes or Cheers everynight.
I would certainly recommend the Santa Rosa apartments.

We have just returned from our 1 week stay at the Santa Rose and were very pleased with what we got. The rooms were very clean and spacious and we had a lovely view over the pools. The staff were constantly sweeping the complex and it was immaculate. The sheets were changed every day apart from Saturday. The only thing that let it down was there could have been more drawer space in the bedroom and it was a bit heavy to carry your cases up 3 flights of stairs.
We opted self catering as it was the first time without the kids and we like to walk round to see the different choices of food but ended up having lunch and dinner in the restaurant itself which was very nice - lots of choice and excellent value for money.
The choice of restaurants is huge - especially down in the main part - which was about a 15 min walk away - down to personal choice - too many to mention.
We found a small bar just round the corner from Santa Rose - Steptoes which is a lovely friendly place - they do a few quiz nights, bingo, family fortunes! and the best thing is if you have one too many - at least it's not far away to get back. The Cavern also offers good food - the 'beetleburger' was a must!
We would recommend these apartments to our family and friends.
