Helios Apartments

After four fantastic holidays at Helios, we've booked again for this year. Michael and Rania look after us so well, apartments are always clean and too comfortable, it's hard to get out of bed after a night at the bar with Michael.
We are always made so welcome, it's like a second home. For good food (apart from Rania's breakfasts and lunches) try Elotia - a 10-15 minute walk, great welcome and fantastic food. where Akiles will always make you welcome.
Only one fault keep meeting a guy called Les and have to drink loads of local wine.

Heaven! I can't say enough good things about this place. The apartments are perfect, everything that you would need for a relaxing holiday. The air conditioning is a big bonus. The family who run the apartments are just amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them, very obliging and friendly. The pool bar offers food all day which is simple but excellent.
If your looking for somewhere relaxing with good accommodation then this is your place. The pool is small BUT spotless! Perfect views over the bay in the mid day sun watching the boats going to and from Agios to Elounda with a cold beer in your hand.....what more could you ask for.
We have visited this accommodation many times and it will always be a firm favourite of ours.

I really enjoyed are 2 weeks at Helios Apartment because it is a family run place and the people are really welcoming. There was a nice swimming pool in the ground so you could have a nice dip after the sea.
There are nice seas near by and there are shops and towns nearby. There are nice restaurants near by so in the evening you can walk down for your meal. Again i can say that the people are very welcoming.

My wife and I have just spent our second fantastic holiday in Crete at the same apartments and again we had an absolutely fantastic holiday. The staff are extremely friendly and sociable and there is nothing they will not do to help. Apartments are spotless and comfortable and over the winter will be re-furbished by the owners which can only make them even better.
Pool is ideal for either just lazing around in or if you feel a bit more energetic, swimming. Plenty of sun loungers to go around and several sun canopies for when it gets really hot. There are sun terraces which overlook the pool too! Bar food is always available during the day and whilst simple it is always well prepared and delicious.
Plenty of variety within 10-15 mins to spend an evening out with The Candia particularly popular with local hotel & apartment guests. Public beach with 5 minutes walk of apartments is ideal for those who want change of scenery from pool.

Myself and my boyfriend Keith had a fantastic time at Helios Apartments. Staff were very friendly and always had time to chat with us. Our room was really clean with a nice big balcony. Swimming pool was not too big but nice to have quick dip after swimming in the sea. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Plenty of places to eat. Candia was our best place that we went to just 10 minutes walk plus various other bars and restaurants. Beach was only 8 minutes walk (Shingle) not too crowded and plenty of sun beds with lovely views - cannot wait to go back.

What can we say...we have just spent two weeks at the Helios apartments and have had the time of our life..
The Apartments are basic but very clean and Christoph and staff at the hotel are pleasant and fun to stay with....the Bar was a surprise as the Brochure was older than the Bar.
Dassia was only a ten minute walk away...are there are roads in Britain that are much more dangerous...you just need to take care. And buses are less than a Euro and every 15 Minutes, and that’s fun to.
From Dassia you can basically go anywhere as its so central...In Dassia itself there is everything from Traditional Greek entertainment to watersports or "British Karaoke".
The beaches are busy and very hot..but safe for Children due to No Main Road on the front.
A Bar to be " Drunken Duck" with Greek dancing from Costa and The Dutch landlady anna..thanks to all.
A place to Eat " Mr Giros" Greek or English food available all day.
Cant wait till next year...

Very small rooms, marble flooring very dangerous when wet. Bar opening times unreliable. Very quiet area even within Dassia itself. One bar doing karaoke twice a week cancelled it frequently as too quiet. In fact owner told us so quiet he is selling up. Great if you want quiet holiday with little to no entertainment.
Would like to recommend a cafe bar we found just inside Dassia on right side if coming from Helios or other which is called "To Syrtaki". They have Greek dancing, plate smashing etc. Just a wee place but people very friendly and welcoming. We loved it. Also be careful on roads as on our first week a car crashed into and demolished wall just outside Helios apartments. Very scary.
The second week it almost happened again and there was also a motorbike accident just down road. Lucky nobody hurt. In general people were lovely, helpful etc except our holiday rep. Round corner to right of Helios apartments is restaurant called Anis where food is reasonably priced and lovely.
The owners are very nice, friendly and helpful. Buses are cheap to use but definitely advise getting hold of a time table to avoid standing out in hot sun for too long. Would also recommend bar in Dassia called Advantage selling small range of cocktails at 2.50 euro.

My partner and I both loved this great little place. Neither of us had transport so we had to stay within the confines of Dassia although buses are frequent. Our studio room was nice though small, in the morning it was bright and fresh, in the afternoon a nice relief from the boiling sun as we sat on our balcony and in the evening? Well we went out of course!
The cocktail bars were many and great and the nearest is just a mere 15 minute walk from our studio. Yes along a dangerous-ish main road but it was all part of that
Dassia charm that I loved.
The restaurants were very good except for one were I ordered a tuna spaghetti and ended up with a plate of tuna, the English was...er, minimalist and another where my chicken burger may have been a cat. But I wasn’t bothered cause everywhere else was great and the prices were great. Mr Giros was a great place to get both Greek and English cuisine and there was also a lovely little pizza restaurant that you could see the sea from. If you are more into the nightlife though Ipsos is a short journey away via bu or taxi or even on a rented scooter.
The beach though pebbled was nice, the water clear and clean and plenty of things to d, such as pedelo hire, some with slides on for the kids. there is also plenty of watersports for the grown-ups.
The swimming pool was small but nice, though not a single day went by when we would walk in at 12 to 1 am and some (loser) one hadn’t laid their towel out ready, by 7am nearly no sun loungers were left. Only the kids really go in the pool but the place wasn’t overrun with brats.
Supermarkets are plentiful and prices are great and cheap with a good range of food stocks and also cheap branded alcohol. Highly recommend the banana juice to try.

I disagree! There must have been 20+ restaurants to choose from a 10 minute walk from the apartments into cassia. As for the roads it’s just a matter of common sense! All Greek roads are dangerous! But all the cars beep there horns constantly to let you know there coming! As for a pool and bar at the apartment didn’t you read the brochure? Did it mention a bar??

I have just read the previous review of this hotel, which does not give a true picture. The hotel is situated on an extremely busy main road +60mph, the only road to Dassia is along the main road, which has no pavement and is extremely dangerous (on our arrival 2 cars had crashed into the wall at the front of the hotel).
The hotel has no bar or restaurant and there is only one restaurant nearby situated right on the main road. The hotel seems to be solely operated by Kosmar whose reps appear to know nothing about the area but plenty about the rest of the island, and promote their tours for over 1 hour.
The hotel has a good pool with plenty of sun loungers this is the only plus point. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anybody with children.
