Alvormar Apartments

Just got back from 9 days in Alvor. Two teenge boys in tow. We had the one bedroom appt on 3rd floor. Very well equipped if you want to self cater. The pool area was very small and a bit murky no good for teenagers, so went to beach every day. Lovely beach . Small supermarket opersite which was handy for milk and rolls in the morning. Pingo ten mins walk away had a great selection and the same prices as Tesco. Laundry next door to Alvomar very handy for a wash and dry mid week. A great location a few mins walk and you were in the thick of it. Lovely resturants tried a diffrent one every night didnt have one bad meal. A few lively bars, but most people were drinking coffee or soft drinks by the harbour most nights, seemed to finish off about midnight. Caught the bus No 10 to Portamao look round. From roundabout a few mins from appts. In all a lovely resort not to quiet but not too loud either.Both 15year olds thought it was great.

just returned form our 3rd stay at the alvormar and not disappointed again. They are in great central location the staff are friendly and helpful. the apartments are cleaned six days a week and you also get fresh towels everytime they are cleaned too. There is a small pool for children and a lovely big saltwater pool.
The children's play area is great if the children want a break from the pool and there is a very good snack bar too and you can't beat the central location!I have read some people saying the apartment need updating,this year our apartment kitchen had been replaced and I noticed a lot of maintenance going on too, a problem with apartment door was fixed right away.I would recommend the alvormar for families with young children my children have always loved staying there

This was our second stay here and " Location Location" is everything. As far as the Alvormar apartments are concerned it ticked all the right boxes. Only a few minutes stroll from the town centre and 10 minutes to the beach. the bus stop to other parts of the Algarve is just around the corner as is the taxi rank. The rooms themselves are well equipped and comfortable with a large balcony, some of the equipment is well worn and if being critical some of it was in need of replacement.The staff on reception were friendly and helpful. There is a small swimming pool but to be honest it is a bit cramped and naff.There is large book exchange library. One tip when booking request a room not overlooking the road whilst it is not not noisy some noise can be heard from people rather than cars returning home in the evenings. Not really suitable for families but ideal for couples who want a central location and enjoy going out and about rather thousand being accommodation base. We will return here again without doubt.

Returning to the Alvormar Apartments after a few years at the Dunas Do Alvor we found them very dated. Although reception had been revamped and a crazy golf course put on the roof the apartments had not been touched. The windows did not lock properly, there was a dangerous loose socket in the bedroom, a window was cracked and the bathroom door had a hole in it. The wardrobe drawers and doors were still warped, and the dressing table still in the corridor with poor lighting. We had to clean the old kitchen cupboard doors because they were sticky with food. We were not impressed either with the mould on the walls round the bath. Obviously these apartments now need to be revamped to match the price that we were charged. We love Alvor enjoying the atmosphere, the restaurants and the superb beach and we did not let this spoil our holiday. The climate is wonderful with the Algarve breeze to keep you cool on a hot day. Needless to say we will be returning again next year but not staying at the Alvormar Apartments.

We have just reurned from our Anniversary break at the Alvomar apartments, these apartments were spotless, cleaned everyday, fresh towels everyday, very well equipped. the attention to detail for the enjoyment of their guests was second to none, a Library, chat room, games room, childrens plat area, two pools, gardens,information,massages ets. the apartments are so central, with a mini-market on the doorstop. Our rating would have been a 10 had it not been for the " other residents " a group of birds, noisy birds,who chatter early morning and evening, not good if your having a holiday long lie.

We found the alvarmar apartments to be very well placed almost in the town itself and near to all local facilities. The apartments were perhaps a little dated but very spacious and very clean. Rooms were cleaned daily except Sundays and fresh towels provided each time. The staff were helpful and friendly and Alvor itself is a lovely little place full of character and had a good atmosphere especially in the evenings. We were a family of ten in three apartments which were really well equipped with a full sized cooker and lots of utensils pots and pans if you wanted to do all your own cooking, there was also air conditioning which we found we needed. I would recommend the apartments and Alvor to anyone. We all had a great holiday and would be happy to visit again. In Alvor there were lots of good places to eat and lots of bars, the buses were very close to the apartments and ran on time to various other resorts. The promenades were about 10 minutes walk and about 15 minutes to a wonderful beach.

The Alvormar apartments were very clean and tidy. Staff were very helpful towards us and we felt welcome. Our ground floor apartment was, although basic, practical and lead straight out onto the lovely gardens. The apartments are situated in the middle of town so there was plenty of amenities. Alvor itself was a pretty fishing village with lots of restaurants and shops and food markets.
The only let down was the amount of stray dogs roaming around the streets, some we had to be aware of , so I suggest if you are frightened of dogs then this is not the place for you.
But the apartments were beautiful and in the town there were some very nice beaches. We chose to go swimming with the dolphins which took place at zoom marine in Albafura, which was a great experience and only around 100 euros .

My wife and I found the Alvamar an ideal base to explore the surrounding towns and villages. The fishing village of Alvor itself was pretty and the people friendly with lots to eat and drink. We found the apartment just right although we would have liked to have overlooked the pool, but then so would everybody else. I read the comments before we went on this web page but reserved my own judgement.
The resort is not aimed at the teenage market so the usual happy hours at knock-down prices do not occur. Noise is of a minimum the only thing that I can think of about the comments about noise is that the people who wrote them are old and go to bed early. I experienced the best English breakfast ever in my travels on this holiday, just by the apartment go to the round a bout turn right and its on your left with fake grass on the patio area.
The Venue had good entertainment and although it looks like a sports bar it isn't at night time when the cabaret is on. Check out Mark Mortons bar he runs it and sings in it at night time, its situated at the bottom of the small hill turn left and in the apartment area on the right. To sum up this area it would suit 35 years and upwards not really for children or teenagers but perfect for us at 46.

A great choice. A central location 4 minutes walk from the Town centre.
The beach is about 15 minutes walk away.
Lovely large clean apartments with loads of equipment. Also a good book library.
The swimming pool area is small and ropey and to us was the negative point.
Can recommend to couples who want a good location and do not want the beach on their door step.
Taxi rank and bus stop just around the corner.

A great location 5 minutes stroll from the old town in a quiet road. The rooms were superb, well equipped and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was an excellent book exchange library here and a small bar. The swimming pool and surrounding area was the only slight let down being small and cramped. The beach was a 10 minute walk away. We can highly recommend this accommodation although probably not for families who would be better at one of the sea front locations. Staying in Alvor you are either near the centre or by the beach, the centre being a minimum of 12 minutes from the beach.
