We really enjoyed our stay at the Green Oasis as it was exactly what we were looking for, family resort, sunshine and a pool.
The hotel and its facilities are standard, but as it was a cheap last minute deal we were happy with what we got.
I was happy that we went all inclusive as we all found the food there pleasant. Again, it wasn't amazing but there was always a selection (a meat like pork or chicken and fish) and a good spread of fresh fruit and salads. In addition all bar snacks were included - so f you missed breakfast you could always get a cheese/ham toastie.
The evening entertainment was a bit lame - but they did out something on for the kids and adults every night. During the day they had several kids/adult activities planned.
Outside the resort there wasn't much locally except a shopping centre.
I would recommend the resort for families and those looking for sun and relaxation. However, you would probably get board after two weeks - but one week was just right.
I think a four star rating is wrong it is definitely a 2-3 star.

Apartments were good and the gardens were lovely. Food was about average but we always found something to eat. Beaches are fab an I would recommend that you either hire a car or get a taxi to a couple of beaches up the coast as they are great lovely and clean and not too busy (just how we like them). Costa Calma is very quiet with a couple of restaurants and bars but if you are looking for a get away from it all holiday like us then this is the perfect place. Would go there again if looking for a total rest.

This hotel offered a standard of accomodation / service well below what my wife and I expected based on our previous 4 star experience in the Canaries and elsewhere. Some detail around perception as follows:
The room was clean and well maintained however the furniture / furnishings did not offer 4 star level of comfort. The bathroom also clean and well maintained however quality of towels, toilet paper and other consumables not to the expected standard
Food was plentiful but not great quality...very often Luke warm
The function room where evening entertainment presented was dark and depressing and the entertainment itself was largely of a poor standard....karaoke and bingo each made up much of a night’s entertainment
Overall we would rate this hotel towards the bottom end of 3 star

This is a quiet resort hotel about a ten minute walk down to the beach crossing a main road, there are mostly Germans and Dutch with few British, but all were friendly and spoke good English. Not a lot in Costa Calma few shops and bars. Beach was lovely. Not a lot of entertainment when we went maybe time of year! 28/11/2004 villas were clean and tidy, not very often you get an upstairs bathroom and bedroom, and this was great. Pool was small but good, the area was cleaned every morning. Pool bar was good, snack, and drinks all day.
Staff we helpful, the mini club for kids was good, my two enjoyed it every time they went. Many thanks to 'Emily’ who was great with the kids, thanks (Josh & Jess). The only thing that we found poor was the variety of food. Little choice from day to day, could not put up with this for two weeks being an all inclusive, we stayed for one week.
We all enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it was a nice quiet holiday just what we were looking for.
Q: Would we go back here!!!
Yes, we still all totally enjoyed it and would stay again.

This hotel was definitely not up to a 4star standard, this was not just our opinion, but that of all the other guests whom we spoke to while staying there.
The food was poor, not kept piping hot, and what was left over from one day, was mixed up with vegetables and rice etc, for the next day. They were always running out off the main courses, as if they hadn’t prepared enough. The dining room in general was organised chaos, twice they took my plate away from under my nose, when I wasn’t finished.
Most of the staff were friendly, but some were very rude. There were not nearly enough sun-beds to go around, we heard several couples complaining about this during our stay.
The hotel is very isolated, there is nothing outside of the grounds. We will not be recommending this hotel to any of our friends.

I totally agree with M/s Hayes review. I stayed there with my husband and adult son, we found the standard of the staff and hotel to be above average. We were understood although we could only speak English, most of the staff could speak 3 or 4 languages. The beach was about 15 minutes walk away depending on the heat. A superb beach and the sea was everything you could wish for, very clean and warm. Our room was kept clean and the sheets were changed despite the fact we were only there for 7 nights. The entertainment was excellent and catered for all, a challenge as there were several different nationalities staying at the hotel. We would certainly go there again and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to our friends and family.

Having just read the other review on this site for this hotel I feel as though I must have stayed in a totally different hotel! I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Sun River and I had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean, cool and spacious enough. The maid service made sure that it was kept that way too every day. Whether or not I had a better experience than the other reviewer on here due to the time of year I went I’m not sure, but it was most certainly of a higher standard than a 2/3 star. I was not disappointed in the least.
The food was varied and plentiful. I also would like to add that I never saw sandwiches on the menu except for in the pool bar, which offers snacks throughout the day, and there was always something like chicken nuggets and chips if you were feeling a little less adventurous.
I didn’t see a single beetle, spider or cockroach during our stay, and the only ants I saw were around waste food or spillages. (No great surprise there!) The whole complex was kept very clean, and when we requested any extra service; i.e. our balcony light bulb had blown, a serviceman arrived within 20 minutes of us calling reception, and this was at about 10 o’clock at night!!
Having read the advice before we went, we actually hired a car, as it is true that unless you want to spend the week solely in the hotel grounds, or immediate area, a car is a necessity, but are available very cheaply if you shop around a bit on the net first. However, if this really isn’t an option, there is a supermarket and several shops nearby, probably a good 15-minute walk, but certainly not out of reach.
The whole island needs exploring, and nothing is obvious, so you are best off grabbing yourself a map, and then asking in local hotels or shops, as we found they were always more than happy to offer you a detailed area map, or directions. As this is the southern part of the island, you will find it is a lot less anglicised than the northern parts of the island, so as I say, you’ll have to have a little bit of motivation to actually find things if you want to make the most of it. Don’t be put off by the lack of advertising, as this makes it all the more special when you stumble upon some of the most spectacular beaches you will ever see down a bumpy dirt track a mile off the main road. There is plenty to see. So much that we are going to have to make a second trip to finish!
I would advise everyone to pay a visit to the Jandia peninsula, which is only a 15 minute drive from Costa Calma and a little way before Jandia town, as this is just an unbelievable beach. The tide is out through the day leaving vast lagoons of warm calm water just deep enough to lay back and float on, while if you like a bit of wave jumping or windsurfing, the sea is almost as warm with good size waves. The breeze is quite strong though and we at times got a little sand blasted on the higher parts of the beach, but all the more reason to stay in the water!! It is also so vast that you would have absolutely no trouble finding a patch big enough to have your own little bit of peaceful tranquillity, unlike some beaches that are jam packed with sun loungers and parasols!
Having just returned, I could rant on and on for hours about how much I enjoyed my time here, but all I can say is go and see it for yourselves. I have read the odd negative comment about this hotel and the resort itself, but as with all places, it doesn’t suit everyone, but I don’t think that the hotel claims to be any more than it is, and if the description appeals to you, then I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed.
Only thing I will say is that they advertise the rooms to have a mini-bar, which would be more accurately stated as "a fridge", as it isn’t actually stocked! But its no great problem as if you go all inclusive, your drinks are free and for after hours, there is a shop open in the hotel through the day selling the essentials cheap enough, so you cant really go wrong!
I would certainly visit this hotel again, in a heartbeat!

On the description of the hotel it says the beach is 900 metres away; that is untrue it’s at least a 35-minute walk. The hotel is more on par with a 2-3 star definitely not a four star or like no other 4 star I have ever been to.
The children’s area is so small there are only 15 sun loungers, there is one restaurant which the menu is less than adequate, there is no food suitable for young children, our ground floor room was full of ants, the town centre which is over 35 mins away has about 3 shops, 1 bank and 2 restaurants.
The lifts at the hotel are the smallest lifts I have ever seen or should I say the lift, as there is only 1 lift for 4 floors. The night entertainment is quite good; the staff are mainly very friendly and helpful.
I would never go back to this hotel; as for the week we were there it was definitely enough. Just glad I didn’t book for two weeks as wouldn’t have been able to stand the food and the fact there is nothing for miles near the hotel, also the pavements are so bad you can’t even go for a walk. Also the snacks in the evenings consist of left over fruit from during the day and 2 choices of sandwiches on bread, which has curled up at both ends.

Just a pice of Information re these apartments, I was on holiday in Fuerteventura May 2008 and as I used to rep this property some years ago and I happened to be passing, I thought I would take a look.
Sorry to say, completely derelict, no one in residence, pools empty, broken furniture strewn everywhere and the lovely gardens all overgrown.
Such a pity, it was a lovely complex.
