Cannes Riviera Hotel

I Booked this hotel through Reserve a room Online.Com. I had seen it with various hotel booking companies but with this one, we got breakfast thrown in.
I booked 2 double rooms for 4 adults (my husband and I went with 2 friends), and an extra bed for our 7 year old. The rate was 103 Euros per night B&B (our son was free!) which I thought was excellent as a lot of hotels in Cannes charge a minimum of 15 Euro just for continental breakfast.
It is situated right outside the train station and the views aren't fab but.....it's only a 5 minute walk from the old port and all the shops. Lots and lots of good shopping and good eating nearby. There is also a small supermarket about 100 meters away.
Our friends room was quite nice, very clean with a big bathroom...no balcony but we expected that. However, our room was FANTASTIC. We expected a double with a Z bed for our son but instead we were given an executive suite on the top floor which had a balcony. This comprised of large bedroom with kingsize bed, TV, bathroom with bath AND shower cubicle. Seperate loo and then another room with a double sofa bed, wardrobes and another TV. It was HUGE and, with the air-con, was nice and cool. For £84 per night for all of us, with breakfast, it was a bargain.
The roof top pool is very nice, small but cool. Plenty of tables and sun loungers and beach towels are provided for a 10 Euro deposit. BE WARNED....there are no parosols on the roof and no other shade and it is hot, hot, hot......we asked for a parasol but were refused due to Health & Safety regs (it might be blown off by the Mistral wind and impale a passer by!). That's fair enough, but I think maybe a wooden gazebo or something similar would do the trick.
There is a small bar in the hotel and prices are very reasonable which surprised me. A bottle of ice calle Heineken beer was only 3.5 Euros, a barcardi and coke was 6 which for Cannes is cheap.
The only downside is that they do not provide snacks such as sandwichs etc which would have been nice. There is a snack machine for drinks and crisps but with a small pack of crisps at 3 Euro its a rip off. Myself and my friend had to smuggle in food like a couple of criminals as you are not allowed to eat or drink anything except the hotel food. I thought thought this was a bit mean.......
Breakfast was excellent.....lovely, air-con room with pastries, bread, cheeses, ham and a great fresh fruit salad which was was.....FRESH...everyday, melon, kiwi, apple, pineapple etc. Couldn't fault it at all.
The area where the hotel is situated reminds me of the Kings Cross area of London...there are a few hobos dotted about, and some rather dodgy looking characters milling about but we were never bothered by anybody. There is a room safe which is free which we utilised all the time.
BE WARNED.....the price for the pay TV is 19 Euros a day. The cost of the garage is 14 Euro per 24 hours which I thought was quite reasonable. If you have a big car, be prepared for a tight squeeze into the underground car-park. However, it is secure and away from prying eyes so it's worth it.
OVERALL....we had a great stay at the Cannes Riviera, staff were helpful, rooms always cleaned each day and I would definately return...especially if I was given the Exec suite again (....by the way, if we had booked this it would have cost us double what we paid).
