Special Offer Rooms not 4 star!!
We booked this hotel through an online Travel Store and were delighted with the deal we got for it in comparison to the hotel's own website's rates. We were really excited to be staying there after reading the other reviews, but were deeply disappointed when we saw our room. It's pretty obvious that the "special rate" rooms are not the so-called 4 star standard which the hotel claims. In fact it was nothing better than a chain motel, with tired decore, worn bed-linen, a tiny portable tv with 4 channels and windows which were over looked by a... more
That's better!
Having just slated the Breaffy House Hotel, I want to balance things by saying that this hotel is excellent. Stayed only one night but would have stayed longer if I could. Receptionists were attentive and friendly. Room absolutely excellent - couldn't say a bad word. You have everything here you need in a good hotel - super large room. Prestine bathroom. Separate shower and bath - heated towel rails. Room was warm and well laid out. I really felt pampered here. Would have liked to try out the Wellness centre, but time did not... more
We would like to go back to this hotel!
Location South of Cork by the Southern Ring Road. 5Km from city centre. The hotel description states that it is 10 minutes from the city. I presume this is by helicopter! (Cork has traffic problems particularly during the rush hour). Buses leave from outside Tesco to Cork city centre – 1.30 euros each way. The bus stop is about ten minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel is close to the suburb of Douglas that has a shopping centre with a Dunnes open to midnight weekdays. There are also several decent restaurants... more
Wedding went with a splash!!!!
I stayed at this hotel on September 16th 2005, it was for my sisters wedding. It was for one night. Overall the stay was lovely. When we arrived at the hotel there was a number of staff waiting for us at reception. They were very friendly and helpful. The meal itself was okay, the room I stayed in was a family room with two double beds. It was a dark room, not alot of light. Very clean, the bathroom was big. all and all a good stay!!
Nice, clean and frieldly
Stayed here on 2 different occasions, first time had a single room and it was lovely and clean but a little on the small side, the second time had a twin room which had 2 double beds, very large in size, finished well and again very clean. The leisure facititles on both occasions was very relaxing and clean, small but pricey but worth the extra bit!
Loved It
We have just returned from a 2 day break at this hotel. When we arrived at 10 O' Clock in the morning our room was ready for us. Everything about this hotel was excellent. We had a room on the 5th floor and had excellent views. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned when we were out. We each had a lovely hot bath at the end of a long day. The food was superb and breakfast menu fab. The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. The hotel was at an excellent location for the purpose that we were there and will return at the end... more
wow!
wow, wow, wow!!! This hotel is something else. It is so pretty. You get a sense of being somewhere special almost immediately on entry. The staff are so friendly, which makes all the difference, particularly in the restaurant where the manager couldn't have been more helpful. I have to say the hotel, despite being completely over-run with wedding guests/others staying was run totally efficiently and I never heard anyone complaining about anything during our 2 night stay. The pool is out of this world- it is honestly the nicest pool in... more
Disappointing
Stayed at this hotel only one night to attend a friend's party. For the price, the room was really nothing special. the bed wasn't great and the view over the rear cark park a bit depressing. The hotel was noisy throughout. Breakfast was pretty normal, with the usual hot and cold options, but no real outstanding feature. A bit disappointing.
