Sandy Golf Bungalows Reviews
" A relaxing place "
Submitted By: easterThe reception staff were always very polite, and the pool and surrounding gardens were a perfect paradise, my daughter fell in love with all the cats and named them all, they were well looked after and would not bother you if you did not encourage them.
I would go again next winter, if the exchange rate improves.
Advice: Quite resort, great for beach lovers
Activities: Try "El Torro" in Faro2 for a great meal, huge portions and reasonably priced
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Ms DargeHad a really lovely relaxing time. The bungalows were very clean and the gardens were immaculate. The pool was excellent-very big. Always managed to get a sunbed (although people did tend to leave their towels on them all day-not just the Germans), there were a mixture of British, Spanish and German people there and we had no problems at all. Staff all very friendly and polite.
My son fell in love with the cats, which didn't bother you unless encouraged.
There wasn't any entertainment in the evenings but there was over the road at Green Golf (the sister hotel). The mini supermarket at green golf was pricey, but handy for basics like bottled water and bread. Infact overall we found Gran Canaria to be quite expensive for most things-due to exchange rate.
Found a great pub in Grand Chaperalle shopping centre- The Windmill and Brittania (both British owned)-reasonably priced and showing football and English tv. Brittania-English food at great prices, friendly staff-especially Freddy! only a short cab ride away for about 3 euros.
Beaches were very crowded and a bit windy-wasn't over keen!!!
After reading some of the reviews, i was worried-but we hired the safe and everything was great. We really did have a lovely time. Just make sure that you take loads of spending money-because it is very expensive.

Submitted By: Miss T RussellWe were broken into within a couple of hours of leaving the complex, and it was only the recptionist and another member of staff that knew we were leaving for the day, in which we had enrtrusted our keys for safe keeping, when we reurned new keys had been added to our bunch and later removed when handed back to us, as yet we do not know what these keys were used for. On reporting our burglary to the hotel reception, we recieved no help whatsoever, they did not call the police, they gave us the advice to go to the police station ourselves, and even then they would not call us a cab to go to the police station, on Three seperate occasions, within 24 hours. we had to hail our own! I am absolutely appalled by their mannor, and i have intentions of taking legal action within more than one area of my holiday contact.
The bungalows themselves and their surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and were the nicest appartments we had ever stayed in, but DO NOT be fooled by their appearances. not all is as it seems.

Submitted By: Miss L MccandlessArrived at around 8 in the evening while it was still warm and sunny outside. The bungalows are very modern and very clean.Kitchen has your basic needs for s/c -cooker,toaster,coffee maker, pots, cutlery plates, cups etc.(we brought our own tin opener and corkscrew)shower is great, bedroom is spacious.Went outside for a look around, couple of kids were just coming out of the pool while my other half was jumping in(allowed in pool quite late)the bar was quiet-the whole week we were there,no entertainment but i was ok with that as we went out most nights. The bar did nice food -breakfast lunch and dinner/snacks/drinks/lollies.Drinks and crisps quite expensive.supermarket across the road at green golf, its hidden downstairs under main entrance. Also faro 2 shopping centre is a 5 minute walk.It has a big supermarket(has everything)and quite reasonably priced, great bars+restaurants banana bar was our fav.the guys(bar staff) are great fun there.Great music, free snacks, quiz nites.only downside to sandy golf was a very rude staff guy which hopefully has stopped working there by the time we go back.enjoy!

Submitted By: Mr S RidingSandy Golf is really quiet in the evenings, people who stay in the complex just relax on the bungalow patios. Night life is a walk or taxi drive away. Football, food, and shops are a walk away at Faro II, night life, the raunchy stuff is a 2.5Euro taxi ride away at the YUMBO centre in Playa-De-Ingles, plus exchange your Stirling there and if you get ciggys do it at the Yumbo.
If you are self catering for a week or more, get a taxi to San Fernando (locals town) a 3 Euro ride from Sandy Golf to the Spar International, and stock up from this big 2 storey Spar shop, great prices for food and booze. So, Sandy Golf is a great mix of English, German and Sanish holidaymakers. We are there in March 2008, and September 2008, already booked. Got told by the other half not to write this review as too many people will start going - Yep, it is that good - ENJOY

Submitted By: Mr A BarlowThe bar and restaurant in the complex is great service, good food at very reasonable prices. The place was never noisy and is a must for people looking for a relaxing holiday. My son is 13 and he made friends with the kids in the bungalow opposite.
There are cats but they never bothered us and kept away if you did not want anything to do with them. We are just in the middle of booking a two week break at Sandy Golf at Easter next year. There are lots of good restaurants just up the road at the Faro 2 Shopping Centre and a good little supermarket over the road at Green Golf.
We went to Green Golf complex one day and that was much noisier and even though the accommodation was bigger we were told by a couple that our complex was much nicer. Most of the people we met were visiting the place for a third or fourth time. HIGHLY Recommended.

Submitted By: Mrs M.E WillettsWhat a lovely surprise, they where clean and kept that way during our holiday, the staff very pleasant and helpful.
I loved the private area outside the bungalow with the loungers, as I am not a great swimming pool fan. I could enjoy the sun in my own little private area.
The kitchen is adequate, but a microwave would help as I found the restaurant seem to have more German food than anything else.
I have booked again for 1st week in December and never thought of booking anywhere else. Keep up the good work a wonderful place to stay.

Submitted By: campoUnfortunately my youngest boy was scratched within 30 mins by one of the many cats on site. Then things started to go downhill... Our first day around the pool started ok, children playing near the kids pool as they do, only to be greeted by an irate German women telling the kids to be quiet, then more Germans started to tell the kids to be quiet.
My wife went to reception to complain, he basically said Germans have more bungalows than English - not satisfied we rang our rep who quickly came to see us only to be mobbed by Germans in the reception, Tanya (our rep) was disgusted by their behavior and told us we can't stay there.
We went across the road to Campo Golf and had an excellent holiday, Kids splashed about and had loads of fun! WARNING... please if you have kids DO NOT take them to Sandy Golf I found the place to be very hostile, manager was useless and I only gave it an overall rating of 2 because the bungalow was decent... P.S you have been warned!!!!!!

Submitted By: Mrs S WarringtonOn arriving at the bungalows we were really pleased with what we found, the bungalows were really nice and clean, and pool area was beautiful. As we arrived on the Saturday night our first day was the Sunday so in the morning we got ready and went to the pool as you do. There were two shaded areas on either side of the childrens pool one was full but the other had 2 spare loungers underneath, the other 4 loungers had towels on them but no guests, we used the 2 loungers under the shade for the children and put our loungers in the sun. At 3pm 2 German couples came out to their loungers which were next to ours in the shade and it was obviously a problem that we were there. One of the German men picked up our lounger and shoved it forward so that he could move his lounger out of the shade and into the sun. We didn't say anything and just got on with our day bearing in mind we had been there all day and not touched any of their things even though it clearly states that no towels are to be left on sunloungers and these people did not appear until 3pm, but the fact that we had children was obviously a big problem.
The next day we arrived at the pool and one of the German ladies went over to the empty loungers and sat on one even though her towel was on a different lounger. I went over and put my childrens towels on the one empty lounger under this shaded area. We had to stay at this end because this is where the childrens pool was. When I spoke to my children the Germans were telling me to shush and one of the ladies told one of my sons off for running past her when he was wet. My two boys were playing in the childrens pool and I was next to them pushing my daughter on an swing when another German lady from another area of the pool turned round and started shouting at my children and telling them to be quiet by this point I was furious we had only been out 10 minutes.
I went to the Reception to complain and was told to ring my Rep if I had a problem, so I did. My Rep was there within half an hour and was fantastic. I explained what happened and the Receptionist agreed to talk to the Germans if they came to the office which one of the ladies agreed to do. Upon entering the office another 3 German ladies came in and they all just basically ganged up on me, even my Rep was shocked at how nasty they were screaming and shouting at me. It was basically a problem that we had children and we were British, their words not mine. My Rep asked if children were not allowed but the office said yes they were. The male Receptionist who one of the German ladies was on first name terms with sided with the Germans because they had more bungalows than us, again his words not mine. Within one hour we were moved to the Campo Golf Bungalows which is just around the corner and has a very peaceful setting just like Sandy Golf but children are made very welcome.
I would not recommend Sandy Golf to anyone based upon the way we were treat and especially if you have children. We also have video of our children playing in the pool and they are just playing not screaming and shouting which is how I was treat by these nasty people.

I found the bungalow to be smart, clean and comfortable. They all have patios with sunbeds and patio table and chairs as well as back yards for hanging washing.
Sandy Golf is fairly quiet at this time of year. Most of the residents seem to be middle aged Germans who, from their deep suntans, look like they live there! The swimming pool is a great leisure pool and not busy at all.
It is a good walk to the beach/sand dunes, which were crowded. I've never seen so many people walking up and down. It was like they were on a pilgrimage!
For the evening, there are a few shopping centres with bars and restaurants within walking distance but again quite a way. The bar at Green Golf was busier in the evening; the one at Sandy Golf was dead.
Advice: Great for all year round sunshine!
Activities: Favourite restaurants were Bali, Sorrento and Grand Italia.
Good for: Beach
