We had a fantastic holiday. The apartments have recently been refurbished and they are beautiful.

The gardens around them are stunning and the complex is maintained to a very high standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We would definitely recommend the Sandy Golf Bungalows to anyone and will definitely go back there.

Recently retired, we were looking for accommodation that would attract adults, rather than families with children and this was perfect.

As this was our first holiday (term time) it was lovely because it was so quiet. We had read reports of Sandy Golf and it sounded like what we were looking for.

It was lovely there...the gardens were great...the pool was very clean ...large enough for swimming across (it took me 50 seconds) and it was definitely heated while we were there (you could sit in the jets of hot water at one side of the pool.)

For those who said it wasn't heated... I think you were unlucky and that it wasn't working while you were there.

There were only ever 3 or 4 people in the pool and at times I had it to myself!

The weather was perfect... hot and sunny throughout the week.

I personally do not think the site and its facilities were particularly suited to children, as the pool was the only facility apart from a couple of swings.

Supermarket, restaurants etc were a 5-10 minute walk away.

Would probably go again if I was sure that the site had maintained its ambience.

Just returned from a week staying at the Sandy Golf Bungalows. Very peaceful with beautiful gardens.

The pool was very clean but not heated so you had to be brave to go in but you soon warmed up as you became used to the water temperature.

Restaurant/bar has a limited menu but the food was of a good standard. Taxi ride to the shops/restaurants near the lighthouse at Faro Maspalomas is about 4 Euros but well worth it for a variety of eating establishments and shops.

Only downside was that our room was broken into and the safe was removed containing passports, tickets etc.

The hotel staff were obviously most concerned and very helpful in dealing with the police etc. I cannot praise the hotel staff enough for all the assistance they provided.

Sadly the same cannot be said for our travel representative, who apart from providing a telephone number for the police report, did not contact us at all to enquire how we were progressing and did not even let us know when the bus was going to pick us up for our return to the airport. We had to telephone the customer helpline.

We were very fortunate in the police finding the safe and most items being returned to us. Would return to Gran Canaria again and would consider the same venue despite our problems, however would not consider using My Travel again.

Clean and quiet. We did not know what to expect when we booked the trip at the last moment. So we were for a pleasant surprise. The pool was nice, but not heated. That is maybe the one minus point.

Appreciated the breakfast with a wide choice foods and fruits. Had also some afternoon snacks and one dinner at the restaurant. The food was quite good and the service personnel friendly and witty.

Originally wanted to have a place closer to the famous Maspalomas dunes. However, the free bus rides from Sandy Golf worked out nicely.

First timers here - would go back again but not to these bungalows. The accommodation was excellent and staff very friendly. Not far from anywhere so why wouldn't we go back?

We have two children (7 & 6 yrs) and along with other children that had arrived during half term week, they played in the pool. In this one week we heard three complaints from other guests moaning about the noise the children were making.

This noise is the sort of noise you would expect children to make when they're having fun so nothing outrageous. The holiday companies definitely need to decide if this accommodation is for families or not! If people want a quiet, relaxing holiday why go to accommodation that advertises itself as "Family Friendly" and why go during half term week? We have to pay enough as it is as parents and we're locked into specific periods through the year these days so I'm not very impressed really.

We had one German chap walk from his bungalow out to the pool area telling the children to be quiet because he was resting. This was at 4pm in the afternoon!

Bearing in mind the complex bar closes at 11pm, 10:30 most nights because of the lack of customers and a general feeling that some guests prefer the children to be seen and not heard, I feel this place should concentrate on residents who want a quiet and relaxing time and stop misleading families with children into going somewhere obviously not appropriate.

Our second consecutive stay at Sandy Golf, the first was in September 2005. Once again we enjoyed a totally relaxing two week stay in refurbished apartments, excellent colour scheme with upgraded kitchens and bathrooms, plus ceiling fans to cool things down when the rooms got a bit hot.

Staff at reception extremely helpful and friendly. Even where the shower was faulty on Sunday afternoon, it was fixed by the evening. You wouldn't get that sort of service in England!

Cannot recommend these apartments highly enough, especially if you want a relaxing holiday. For those that like the nightlife, Playa del Ingles is a long walk, or a short cheap taxi ride away.

Excellent Pool, very clean and if you want a good meal, go to Melonaras Playa, an hour walk or 4 euro taxi ride away to Sea & Golf, right on the sea front and an excellent place to watch the setting sun. Ask for Hassan, el camerero, who will give good service.

Just got back from 1 week here and thought it was fantastic. The rooms were beautifully furnished and immaculate when we arrived. They were cleaned everyday except Wednesday, fresh towels provided every day and the sheets were changed twice during our stay. The kitchen was quite basic but not a problem as we didn't go on holiday to cook. The only thing we missed was a tin opener for the tin of fruit cocktail for our home made Sangria.

The pool and pool area were excellent although we only spent two days here. We never had a problem getting a sun bed even though the majority of guests were German. Only used the bar and restaurant on site once but found the food and drink to be ok and the staff were extremely friendly.

We ate at the Faro II most nights as there is quite a good selection of restaurants with a wide variety of choice not all burgers and chips.

Our rep recommended the Yumbo centre as an excellent place to shop and eat. But I have to say I was extremely disappointed as it was just Blackpool in the sun full of tat shops and English breakfasts. The shopping centre near the beach in Maspalomas was much better.

We went on the super cat (catamaran) on one of the days and this was worth every penny. I would highly recommend this.

I would definitely go back here as it had everything needed to make a perfect holiday.

The complex had just re-opened after refurbishment and the bungalows were freshly decorated. The pool is massive so it never gets crowded and the gardens surrounding the bungalows are lovely.

The only down side is that it is a bit of a walk to the nearest supermarket and you really need to go to Playa del Ingles if you're looking for entertainment and a good selection of restaurants in the evening although only 3 euros in a taxi.

Overall a lovely complex if you're looking for a quiet holiday.

Absolutely lovely complex - quiet, relaxing, beautiful gardens and amazing swimming pool.

This complex is in a great location - walking distance to all the things you need - Faro 2 is the main shopping centre nearby with everything you need 7 days a week.

Is joined to Green Golf- you can use the facilities and there is a small supermarket on their site you can go - not too pricey for the convenience.

If you love gardening, you will love this resort- I am 23, but even I liked the gardens that surrounded the bungalows.

Our only problems were:

The kitchens are quite basic- no oven or microwave, but as long as you are happy cooking on top - i.e. pasta / frying, you will be fine- there are too many nice restaurants near by to stay in all the time.

We had an attempted burglary - our door wasn’t the most secure- but the staff were brilliant and came instantly to our room and secured the door- we were right next to reception and I think he was a novice as we were the second to get hit - but the other property's door was wide open.

I cannot explain enough how amazing the pool was- peaceful- and no fighting for sun beds. No screaming kids - which was great - not that kids are a problem - just nice to have some peace and quiet.

Staff were brilliant and the setting was perfect for a week in the sun - I would seriously recommend - and Portland as usual were great travel company (although everything done through parent company Thomson once there).

It was my 2nd trip to Gran Canaria and it was a fantastic one to. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the pool was nice and clean and fun to play around in.

The brilliant part was where it was located, it was in the quiet part of Maspalomas which was peaceful and lovely. Also there was the faro 2 shopping centre across the road so you could go there for a night out or to get some food.

Also the bus service was good and on time and I also liked the yumbo centre which is a few miles away. Also the water park was great for all ages but it is very hilly so not so good for older people. All and all a very good trip and I cant wait till I go back next time.

This was our tenth consecutive trip to Gran Canaria since the year 2001. We have previously stayed at Green Golf and at El Palmeral apartments, but found that our latest stay at Sandy Golf rated highest in our trips to this lovely island.

The apartments are set in attractive gardens with a central swimming pool. They were clean and comfortable and not too hot at night despite the lack of air conditioning.

My wife and I felt so relaxed for the whole fortnights holiday. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

My one slight criticism is that the kitchens in these apartments could be slightly better equipped for those who want to self cater. There are just two hot plates and no oven apart from microwaves, which can be hired.

I would thoroughly recommend these apartments although my understanding is that next May they are to undergo refurbishment work, so check availability before booking.

We wanted a relaxing week of sunshine and that’s what we got.

The bungalow was fine - clean and well-equipped. Ideal for two people but a possible squash if there had been three of us. The drying area was fab - make sure you take pegs though! The whole complex was clean and tidy with amazing flowers. The only down side was a noisy family opposite but I guess that can’t be helped. Reception also quickly dealt with the cockroaches that appeared a couple of times!

The pool was lovely with plenty of sun beds and shade - although it was Easter weekend it was never crowded.

The rep was ace - no hard sale and full of useful information - directing us to suitable eating places and being generally helpful.

The free bus service was good, the supermarket well-equipped and the trip to Garbo’s was cheesy but fab!

We had a top week and are going back next Easter!

Location: Sandy Golf is away from everything. There is nothing to look at on route to the shopping centre with its restaurants. To get to the shops the path takes you across a dry dirty bit of wasteland.

The Faro 2 is only a 5 minute walk away but it is a bit of a concrete jungle with very little character. Good restaurants with similar menus on the top floor (all outside looking out onto nothing much)

Apartment Complex: Lovely design with superb gardens. We had very unusual weather in that it reached the mid 40's whilst we were there. This had the disastrous effect of bringing out all the cockroaches.

Every night despite spraying the rooms before we went out, the nasty creatures looked up at us as we entered the room. They were big and load of them. The staff did fumigate our block but still they reappeared.

We had to keep all windows shut at night to prevent the majority entering. Believe me it was hot even with a fan.

The pool got dirty by the end of the day and during the searing heat it did not get cleaned. The staff was very good and friendly at all times. I was thrilled to see that the Spanish chose it for their holidays -- always a good sign. There is no kettle in the apartment but there is a coffee machine.

The safety deposit boxes work on a code so no need to carry extra keys around. Keep your windows closed during the day or you will find a moggy asleep on your bed!

We used the buffet restaurant service in the Green Golf apartments opposite and found the food to be very good with a good choice. We also went across to watch the drag show which was a bit like pantomime dames but very funny (watch out men they will seek you out)

The free bus service to the beach ran on time and was fine. The staff at reception will call a taxi at any time. We visited the Yumbo centre but like many other reviews in this site stated we too were disappointed with it.

It had a somewhat intimidating atmosphere. someone offered money for my 15 year old daughter within 5 minutes of being there. The pressure from the restaurant touts is unbearable

World of Tui company as good as usual with flights leaving on time and very good transfers to and from the airports. we did one tour with them to see the whales and dolphins. The trip was well planned but beware of the number of passengers requiring the ubiquitous plastic bags! The whales were amazing but the dolphins were in hiding.

I would go back to Gran Canaria but to a different resort where you didn’t have to rely on buses or taxis to get anywhere. having said that, being a little far out did mean that it felt incredibly safe.

An excellent base for a relaxing holiday. Lovely swimming pool - loads of sun beds. Try to get a bungalow near to the pool rather than on the side near the road - although its not noisy. Access to surrounding area good - free bus service available. Cheap taxis. Some excellent restaurants nearby - Faro 2 centre - Michelangelo (top floor) Good cakes, coffees etc Cafe de Paris.

Excellent steak - Cita centre Tibor (top floor)

Good cheap meals on the front at Playa del Ingles.

Cash money at the commission free exchanges - particularly in the Yumbo Centre.

Excellent island tour with the tour operator seems expensive but is amazing value. Don’t be frightened to go on the free half day blanket trip- there is no hard sell ! Local buses cheap and reliable - Atlantico centre(bus 69) good for shopping.

Don’t wait for the reps advice as she wasn’t great.

I have been to these apartments four times and would like to go back again. I have been there on a girlie holiday, honeymoon and family holiday. It is so versatile it suits any holiday.

The apartments are always clean, as is the pool, gardens and sun terraces.

The Faro 2 sports superb views of the surrounding mountainous landscape on one side and sea view on the other.

There are many different restaurants to cater for most needs.

Would and have recommended these apartments to anyone.
