Best Western Cervantes Hotel -- Seville

This was my first time in Seville, and I would recommend Hotel Cevantes. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. My room was big, clean and well decorated, and had a spacious bathroom. My room over looked a lovely terrace with a palm and orange trees. I did not use the hotel for breakfast as there are many cafes and bars nearby, but the breakfast room look very nice. My wife and I stayed in Sevilla for 2 nights at Cervantes hotel (which I found through Tripadvisor). Sevilla itself was a revelation, but also a hotel. I booked a twin bed single room, and was amazed to feel ourselves almost guests in a royal palace - pictures on walls, statues, patios with flowers, fountains. Hotel Cervantes is an independently owned member of the Best Western franchise. I have to say it certainly stands head and shoulders above most of the others I have stayed in. The hotel is as difficult to find as other reviews say certainly by car however a good look at the map before you start and trying when the traffic is light will certainly help. June 2006. Just got home from this magical little find in Seville, read other reviews before booking, and am so glad that I did, a bit of advice would be to at first get a taxi from Airport direct to Hotel until you get your bearings in the twists and turns of the streets, and then you will find you are no more than 10 mins walk to all main site seeing attractions and the river. Cervantes is difficult to find at first. We took a taxi from the bus station and driver was consulting a map on how to get there. Once we arrived we were impressed with the layout and overall ambiance. Our room faced the open air patio which was pleasant in May, may be less so later in the summer. Rooms are OK, having two double beds pushed together to make a queen was irritating but seemed to be common in other Spainish hotels. There was no safe in the room. I expected a little more given the positive reviews on this site, but wasn't terribly impressed with Cervantes. The room smelled musty and was drab, bed (two twin beds pushed together) not all that comfortable, no in-room Internet access, no in-room safe. Friendly staff every time we asked for assistance. Stayed 2 nites. Didn't eat the breakfast; found plenty of small cafes in area to sit outside and enjoy. Would stay there again.
