Sunotel Aston

We stayed a week at this hotel and found it to be amazing value for money. Nice staff (especially the cleaning ladies who all spoke fairly good english - unusual in Barcelona), comfortable and tidy rooms with really excellent bathrooms (could do with a few more hooks though). The beds were in very good condition too. Location is quite okay. A walk of 20 minutes will take you into central Barcelona and if you don't want to use your feet to much, the metrostation is just around the corner. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. Located reasonable close to the fun parts of Barcelona (10 metro ride to Las Ramblas) Airconditioning was centrally controlled and was only on between 10am and 6pm. Was not on at night time and room was VERY HOT! Had to open window for air but traffic noise made sleep difficult. Pool hours between 10am and 8pm, so no early swims or late night dips.

Speaking as a wheelchair user who has just returned from a second visit to the beautiful city of Barcelona. We stayed for 6 nights in June 06 at Sunotel Aston and had a very pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable, double bed, TV, clean decent sized bathroom with a great power shower! This included a mini bar, which was very reasonably priced. Clean linen, towels regularly. We stayed for 2 nights at Sunotel Aston and had a very pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable, double bed, tv, clean decent sized bathroom with a great power shower! There was a mini bar which was very reasonably priced. The pool and terrace on the roof looked good but we didn't use it. There is a cafe/restaurant which we also didn't use as we liked to eat out. Nice budget hotel.... Staff very keen to help. I'm a regular visitor to the city, and sadly most people think they have to base themselves in the Ramblas area, but this area is quieter at nights and with the added bonus of being yobbo free! Excellent frankfurter bar just around the corner.

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Room(402) was a bit small big enough for sleeping in but not big enough to spend time in which was a pity in view of basic facilities in small public area. Bed was very comfortable but thin walls and ceilings meant could hear neighbours who snored; and late wanderings in room above us of someone wearing high heels or tap dancing shoes well after our bedtime; and early morning calls to next rooms (including conversation). We stayed in a double room at the Aston for 4 nites in Jan 06. It was a decent sized room with a TV. The bathroom was cleaned each day and we got new towels etc. It is a bit out of the centre(maybe a 25 min walk to La Ramblas) but the Metro Clinic subway stop is a 2 min walk round the corner. The subway is excellent and we were never waiting more than 5 mins for a train. We bought a T10 for 10 journeys and it cost €6. Good hotel, clean and modern. Conveniently located near a subway station. In the Eixample district, a good neighbourhood which lacks the charm of the old city. Only drawback, the air conditionning was weird... it went on and off, sometimes the room was hot (it was July), sometimes too cold, and it seems like it's not possible to control it from the room, the staff controls it. Apart from that, I enjoyed my stay in this hotel and would possibly go back (I will go back for sure to Barcelona, an extraordinary city).

Although the 'trolley dolly' said our hotel was a bit out of the way, we found the location fine - the Hospital Clinic Metro station was only a hundred meters away. The rooms are excellent compared to what you'd get in the UK for the price (£180 for 3 nights for 2), very clean, comfy bed (a double, not 2 beds stuck together), nice shower complimentary toiletries (incl. comb, toothbrush & paste, shoe shine!) Hotel is in a good location, beside the Metro Station Clinic. Hotel was very clean and room was small but perfect for our 3 days there. There is a roof top pool and sunbathing area which was great in July. The only downfall was they charge you for parking which is NOT stated on their hotel facilities it just says "parking" and it's E18 a day, so almost E60 on parking when we didn't use the hired car once, if we had know that we would have went to Barcelona before we picked up our hired car for the rest of our trip.
