" peace and quiet "

Stayed in villa 18 thru Style Holidays.
Beautiful quiet unspoilt location surrounded by private villas and houses.Fabulous get-away-from-it-all holiday.
The location makes this holiday.Villa was well-designed.Fittings probably let it down a bit more 3 star than 5 star but everything in it that you could want.Pool was cleaned twice while we were there for one week.Good sized pool for swimming. No complaints on the cleaning at all.Well-presented.Style rep available if you need her.Good value for price.
Only negative was no car available to hire but this was due to a general shortage of cars on the island this year in high seasosn.Car would have been good because busesare very infrequent to Binisafua or Binibeca.Taxis very reasonable though.E25 back to airport one way.
Would definately return but hire a car unless you like to walk a lot.

Advice: Small but a few good restaurants. One good supermarket to walk to.

Activities: The bar restaurant in Binisafua.Book early.Excellent spanish food.Laid-back atmosphere.

Good for: Beach

" Dissapointing! "

We stayed in Villa No.9. Although the setting was great - nice and private - the actual villa itself was very dirty. The bed sheets and towels were disgusting - we had to wash them before we could use them ourselves. The air conditioning units did not work. The patio area flooded everytime it rained. The villa smelt damp - and there is evidence of a leak from the roof in the lounge. The crockery available for self catering was a miss-match of items - Style / Thomas Cook charge a Breakage Fee to ensure all items are fully replaced before the next occupant, but this fee certainly isn't being used for that! The Reception area of the complex is a MUST to see ... a complete dump! That is also the area in which your bed sheets and towels get serviced. The team running the complex hardly speak English - (I think they are Mexican) ... make sure you brush up on your Spanish to make your complaints heard! Good luck!

Advice: Binibeca itself is beautiful!

" OMG ! "

My Father paid good money for a family holiday (Gold Star Award Apartments we were told!!) We stayed in number 5 Etnia villas which was in an awful state of repair and stunk to high heaven. 7 people stayed in this villa with another 4 staying in number 8. I had to make around 10 calls to our tour operator to get number 8 in any shape for people to stay. From ant infested rooms, air conditioning units that let out a smell that made you physically sick which then stopped working totally. A dirty pool, broken garden furniture. I could carry on all day about this apartment and the trouble we had trying to get help to sort this out. My parents spent most of the hoiday in the garden as workman dismantling AC !!
Number 5 just about topped things off. Our pool turned green due to pump not working. We tried to find help which was in the form of a note pad as nobody around ! We complained twice about pool. Which doesnt sound alot but read on ! Unfortunately too late as my 5 year old niece ended up in hospital fighting for her life with a cyst on her lymph node. My 3 year old daughter has green gunge leaking from her ear with an awful stench. She ended up at the emergency doctor many times !! My 4 year old daugther had such a bad ear ache she screamed for days. My sister and her partner, myself and my husband had such bad throat we could barely swallow. So everybody in Number 5 got ill. One nearly died !!!!! But we are told we are liars !!

" Not impressed with the accomadation... "

Not impressed with the accomadation for the money paid. Villa No 5 is tired in need of lots of DIY. Roof Leaked over lounge area when raining. Roof of covered patio area also leaked.
Towels old and stained. Towels replaced 4 times in 2 weeks. Bed linen once in 2 weeks. No general cleaning carried out. No rubbish removal. Pool cleaned twice in 2 weeks. Mould around ceiling window light and on walls. Ceiling fans going rusty and door furniture going rusty. No 5 suffers from sewer fumes from sewer vent attached to property. Pool water temperature extremely cold. Would not book these villas again which were once nice properties.

" We , myfamily of four with... "

We , myfamily of four with grandparents , two young children 3 and 4.. It is so beautiful here , peace, quiet, not touristy at all . WONDERFUL. Just the lapping or crashing of waves nobody shouting and we just loved it. If you want night life and entertainment then this is not for you ,, This is and felt like you lived there with the real menorcans.. You could see the sea from our villa and just a little walk a delightful beach with no sunbeds , just lovely people. Although the odd day lots of jelly fish but my two found that fascinating .! A little futher drive from binafasua we came across a tiny bay all to ourselves.. Just perfect .. A little steep getting down but wonderful .. The water was so clear a little cool but it was mid may and no mosquitos at all ..NONE !!!! We found some wonderful restaurants in es castell and into mahon by the harbour , food fantastic and not touristy at all ... Thank god no english restaurants in sight just lots of lovely yachts and beautiful poeple .
Son Bou is also a beautiful beach , a little windy on cooler days but still stunning . We have stayed the other end of the island before and this was by far the best , will and shall go back very soon ...Cannot recommend this area higher and the villas were certainly adequate .. Just loved the area ...mrs m slade norfolk ....

" We stayed in Etnias 6 which is well... "

We stayed in Etnias 6 which is well maintained, well equipped, quiet and spacious, a great 6 week holiday. The pool maintenance was excellent, almost daily in fact, though the villa cleaning service was not exactly thorough.

The sea view is quite good and the villa is located just a couple of hundred yards from the shore. The small garden is extremely well kept with palm trees and ample shrubs & bushes to form a screen round the villa. One really needs a car; it is quite a long walk to the nearest facilities.

The only real problem with the villa was ants. There are real infestations and we used a lot of ant killer. This problem is quite common in Menorca and is not limited to the villa or the Etnias site; for some reason ants seem to love the Menorcan soil.

We'd be very happy to go back to this villa if we decide to return to Menorca in the future.

" We booked Etnias Villas in April,... "

We booked Etnias Villas in April, only to have Style notify us that "there was a problem with the reservation" 3 days before we travelled on August. We had chosen these villas carefully (air-con was a necessary requirement as I was travelling with aged parents), and the best replacement Style could arrange at such short notice was a dog-eared "spare" at Cala n'Bosc, at the far end of the island.

To say I am livid with Style and the villa operators is an understatement, as I strongly suspect either Style, or the owner of the villas gazumped our booking as holiday prices had risen due to the poor UK summer. 3 days notice of holiday change is inexcusable.

I did drive by the villas to see what I was missing. I was underwhelmed. The pictures in the brochure and on the net are clearly 20 years out of date, and very deceiving. The pictures make the villas seem considerably larger than they are, and the development is now overgrown with shrubbery - the view is just no longer there. The number of mozzies in Binisafua compared to the other end of the island was very noticeable (mozzies love leafy environments). Binisafua was tiny and incredibly quiet apart from the frequent roar of planes overhead. Binebeca seemed charming but very, very limited for dining out. A 2 week stay would become repetitive.

I cannot under any circumstances recommend either Style or Villas Etnias.

" Our holiday to Etnia Villas, Menorca... "

Our holiday to Etnia Villas, Menorca was fantastic. We were out there during the children’s whit holidays between May and June '05.

There were 8 adults and 3 children in our party so we booked 2 villas. The flights were with Thomas Cook and were excellent, the best flights all of us have had in a long time.

Our package with Style holidays included flights, car hire for the two weeks 2 x 2 bed room villas, food hamper upon arrival and contact with the local rep.

Upon arrival at Mahon airport some of our party collected our luggage whilst those of us that were driving sorted out the car hire (this does take about 20 mins - but we had two cars to sort out). Whilst we were waiting to sort out the cars a rep from Style asked whether some of our party would like to travel to the villas via the free transfer - which 2 of our party did do.

We were provided with 2 VW polo’s, which if you have a large like us, we would recommend upgrading - we had a VW polo, which seated 4 adults and one child and a Citroen Picasso, which seated the rest of us. This cost an additional £100, but it was worth it for 2 weeks comfort!! All cars were air conditioned, a must in the Menorcan Heat.

The journey from the Airport to the Villa’s was pretty much on main road, no dirt tracks - we followed the signs to Binibeca Vell and then we were pretty much there (directions are given to you by your rep upon arrival). Driving over in Menorca is very easy there are not very many cars on the road and the only pain are other tourists trying to master driving on the wrong side.

Binsafua is about a 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive from Binibeca Vell, a recreated fishing village with a small super market (does have some English food too) a couple of pubs/bars, 2 souvenir shops and about 5 restaurants. If you like fish and seafood you must try the fish restaurant (I think its called Pescado's or something similar) excellent food. Binibeca Vell is full of nooks and crannies so you will find more and more the during your stay like we did. You do not get anyone hassling you either.

The beach at Binibeca Vell is about a 3-5 minute drive, but is beautiful. You can hire a sunlounger, the sea is crystal clear, there is a bar selling drinks and snacks and a lifeguard too. You can get the 'fun train' from here to Punta Prima

The next village Punta Prima is about a 10 minute drive, this offers a beach (with picture postcard lighthouse) several bars and restaurants a Spar shop (again more English food available) and a pharmacy. The one restaurant I would recommend here is one on the front, which has a lighthouse as its logo. We were taken through to the back where there was a beautiful covered decked area with tables, the children were treated like Kings and Queens - there is a little garden which has 2 tortoises which the kids loved watching whilst they waited for their meals. The food was excellent and extremely good value for money. We visited 3 times during our stay and never had a bad meal. There are local dishes on the menu as well as the usual food. We visited on our last day, all 11 of us! and a meal for 4 adults and 2 children including starters, main courses, wine and drinks for the kids cost £80.00 and the quality of the food again was excellent.

Where we were situated in Binsufua we were only a drive away from most villages and it was a 15-20 minute drive to Mahon, which must be visited when there is a market on.

We travelled to the water park in Cala n Bosch near to Cuitadella - which took about 30-40 minutes, we travelled to the beach a Cala n Porta about 20 minutes away, this beach again is beautiful, clean and you can walk out about 400 mtrs and the water is only up to your waist - excellent for snorkelling.

The villas we stayed in were lovely, we booked 2x 2bedroom villas and when we arrived they were 2 x3 bedroom villas very clean 2 bathrooms, one on-suite, beds changed once a week, towels twice a week and own private pool cleaned twice a week. One of our villas has a problem with the fridge which we informed the rep (she visits twice a week, you can wait to see her or leave a note) and it was fixed the same day. We each had a BBQ outside our villas, which was great for a night in. If you get your food from the big supermarket in Saint Louis (on the way out to the airport about 10 min drive).

Where the villas were situated you had lovely views of the rocky sea coves. There was a little noise from the planes over head, but to be honest they never really bothered us as we were having such a good time and they become a talking point at night (the last one was about 10pm). It also proved how safe air travel is when you’ve seen so many planes coming into land.

We would definitely go back again, our kids loved it.
