Occidental Cordoba

a bit out of the way from the centre of town and not found on my fully loaded tom tom 910. (the tom tom worked perfectly in frankfurt). free car parking was a bonus. room and bathroom both large, clean with all basic requirements. coffee at breakfast was amazing and i honestly would go back just for that! service was quick. disappointed that there was no fresh orange juice being served. grounds, pool and outside dining are very pleasant and are frankly a must for a hotel so far out from the city centre. we checked... more

A good hotel on the outskirts of Cordoba. Having read reviews of this hotel I wasn't exactly sure what to find! The room was good and adequate for our needs - confortable beds, extremely quiet and good clean bathrooms. The staff were extremely friendly, which contradicts many previous reviews on this, and other sites. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the centre of Cordoba, so if you haven't a car, or do have one , but don't want to drive so you can have a drink, then the hotel will order a taxi for you. A very nice hotel indeed, the Occidental Cordoba. The hotel is surrounded by a beautiful and big garden and has a lovely swimmingpool. It's architecture is nice, with a Moorish touch. There is enough parkingspace. The room we had was large and off very good quality. The decoration was nice and typically Spanish (dark wood). The bathroom was fully equiped. I stayed here for one night as part of a group guided tour. The lobby, rooms, and restaurants were good. The hotel grounds are beautiful. My room was very small (even for European standards) and the bathroom was clean. But my biggest gripe is how far away this hotel is from downtown. It is absolutely not within walking distance, the bus-stop is not nearby and because it's situated in a residential neighborhood it is difficult to find a cab.

Hotel is located in the suburbs away from downtown; we definitely couldn't walk anywhere. But it was clean, welll kept, the rooms were nice, and the grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed eating in the restaurant and had great service.

Just returned having spent two nights at this hotel. Large conference-style hotel, converted from a 70's concrete school building, more 3 than 4 star. Bedroom absolutely reeked of smoke, and was rather shabby, with stained rugs and corporate style decor. Plus points: gardens pretty and well kept, and rooms quiet and peaceful. Service very impersonal. Breakfast buffet very average, with rather harassed waiters slow to replenish depleted stocks.

Had 2 lovely nights here. Very friendly staff (pero estuvimos hablando solo español). Food well up to scratch & good standard buffet breakfast. We got upgraded to a better class room and this was the most impressive (and big!) hotel room we've ever been in. We were there in December so didn't get to use pool etc. (looked decent though). This hotel is in a beautiful part of Cordoba,very quiet and yet close the the old part of Cordoba.(5 minutes by car) The staff is very accommodating.We got a very large room for less than 50 euros which was a fantastic deal. The hotel gears mostly to large groups,but at this rate we should not complain about bumping into people in the lobby. If you like big hotel, this one is for you.

The hotel is in a very nice area of the city although the public transport links are not ideal. There is a only a bus that takes you to the city shopping centre and not to the old part of town that everyone wants to see. It is very easy to get a taxi though. The hotel is set in lovely gardens with a great pool and the staff are very nice. The breakfast was more than adequate with everything you could want and they serve until 11.30 at weekend which I think is extremely civilized indeed. My only gripe would be that the air... more
