Myself and my friend have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Byzanthium apartments. What a lovely place! The rooms were clean and there was everything you needed for your stay. As there were only a few chalets it was very cosy and you got to know everyone that was staying there with you. Costas and his mother were the perfect hosts - they tendered to your every need and nothing was too much trouble.The BBQ night that Costas put on was the best night of our stay. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and although Troulos is a quiet part of Skiathos it is beautiful and still traditional. I would definately recommend these apartments to friends and family and would go again.

Myself and my partner have just returned from a weeks break at the Byzantium. Great place small and quiet with just 13 little chalet type rooms, basic but very clean. Sheets changed once a week, towels are provided but they are old and like cardboard so take your own The pool is immaculate as Costas cleans it every day. Small informal bar reasonably priced with snacks available, if Costas or Mama - his Mum isnt there just help yourself and leave the money or pay him later !! Air conditioning is available but is 7 euros a day - we coped without it but it did get to 41 degrees one day !! You will need a plug in mossie killer and some citronella candles and there is a supermarket next door for all you need, papers come in at 12.15 every day. The beach is a 10 minute stoll away and is clean but you need shoes as it is rocky in the water. Must do is the Vareli restaurant near bus stop 18 best Mousakka i have ever had in my 25 years of going to Greece !! The food may take a while to arrive but the meal will be stotting hot and fab so well work the wait - house wine is more than acceptable. Skiathos Town is a 15 minute bus ride away and costs 1.60 euros each way per person so no need for taxis.

This was our tenth visit to the island and it has been by far the best, both Costas and his Mom made us very welcome and nothing was to much trouble, the accomodation was typical Greek except the shower was always hot (this was the first time we had experienced hot showers in Greece) food was excellent and so was the service all rooms had air conditioning if required. We were visited every morning and lunch times by the local sparrows who enjoyed titbits taken out of your hand, the swimming pool was refreshing clean and well kept, the karaoke was also good fun, we shall certainly be returning next year thanks Costas for a memorable holiday.

We had a great holiday in the Byzantium complex.Spotless room, always hot water, nice and secluded. Kostas, and his Mum do really nice food, basic, but cheap. The pool and the whole area is spotless.The nearby beach is one of the best we found on the island. Lovely island great holiday.

would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay,ok the rooms are basic but they are clean,.we have made a return booking for next year.the owner Costas and his mother would go out of their way to help you.if you want a totaly relaxing holiday then go too the Byzantium apts in Troulos.

Can't believe anyone could give this place a poor report ! We had a super, relaxing holiday. The owners could not have been more helpful. Yes it is basic, but thats Greece!
It was cleaned daily, the pool was small but lovely and the accommodation is well placed for visiting the rest of the island. Lots of nice places to eat and beautiful beaches to discover.Everything we wanted.

Positives, ok, people were very accommodating which i must say we found goes for the whole island but the family that run the studios were very friendly, poor English but at the end of the day it isn't their job to know my first language. The food was lovely and the pool was nice. I read very good reviews on the Byzantium but I unfortunately can not match them. I read how towels were changed daily, we had to request towels full stop on the 2nd day after she had removed all ours without replacing them and we didn't get clean ones at all on the 3rd day. But this is petty and you can live with that. However, what we couldn't stomach was having no aircon. This is an impossibility staying in Skiathos in June! The first night both myself and my partner struggled sleeping from the heat but what upset me was the amount of mosquitoes the apartment possessed. Something we should have preempted given the amount of squashed ones above the headboards left from previous visitors. We were eaten alive which isn't pleasant when you have to sleep naked due to the excessive heat. Having lost the first half of our first full and proper day due to late/lack of sleep we decided to hire a fan which the Byzantium offer...at a cost! hmm! Ok. Pointless! The 2nd night was just as bad especially when they come in to clean your studio during the day they open all your doors so when you come back your attempt of trapping out the heat and bugs have been completely pointless. We left after this and stayed in the Beltsios Hotel around the corner and could NOT fault it in anyway, my advice would be stay here if you want a nice holiday!

Really disapointed. We read such wonderful reviews I was so excited. What wrecked this for us was no aircon, seriously an impossibility in skiathos in June! First night no sleep, not only that we were eaten alive by mosquitoes as the cleaner after cleaning leaves all the doors open. We didn't have fresh towels daily as others seem to have done, there isn't even any soap for you to wash your hands with when you arrive. There were numerous mosquitoes squashed to the wall above the head boards from previous visitors and you have to pay for a fan which in all honesty does jack! And lastly there is nothing (suitable) for you to sleep under, now as i have explained in fairness it is too hot but to have hidden under a sheet from being bitten all night would have been a little helpful, all that's provided are thick scratchy HORRID blankets that in all honesty you'd have thrown on the bonfire 15 years ago. The place is like a morgue. Sorry but NOT happy. After 2 nights of being too hot and attacked by mosquitoes we called it quits and found other accommodation at the Beltsios, now THERE I WOULD advise you to stay, wow. Please see review.

I booked my holiday a week before departure and wasn't sure what to expect but I have just come back from one of the best holidays I have ever had!
Troulos was the perfect resort for me (i'm 27, female, travelling alone and wanting to relax rather than party) - beautiful beach (the best on the Island in my opinion), nice tavernas and restaurants, quiet but not soulless! On the bus route from Skiathos town to Koukanaries (each end of the island) so it was easy to get around (i don't drive), a selection of supermarkets and everywhere was run by the Greeks not the English - perfect!
Byzantium was the icing on the cake for me and just what I wanted for my holiday. It was basic but very clean and tidy (the cleaner came in daily and left everything immaculate) and the setting was beautiful. As a family run business Kostas and his mother are always on hand to help out with any problems or advice about the island (they are locals from way-back) and make you so welcome. the apartments only hold about 30 people at capacity so it has a friendly atmosphere and i stayed up quite a few nights drinking with fellow guests. There is a small bar on-site which does light food (omlettes and meat on the grill), drinks, icecreams has cable tv and a computer and a pool that is kept fastidiously clean. There is a taverna and supermarket next door and the beach is a 5 minute walk away.
This is not the place for 18-30s (try skiathos town) but has a mix of younger people, families and couples. For those who want to relax during the day and party at night then the bus runs from Troulos in around 10-15 mins up to skiathos town, every 20 mins to 30 mins and the last bus from the harbour in skaithos is 1am. Cabs are around 7-10 euro.
A brilliant holiday - i wil be back next year with any luck!

We visited Skiathos again this year for the 7th time and stayed once again at The Byzantium. It is such a wonderful place we're almost tempted to tell you not to go so that we can always get in!
Skiathos is as beautiful as any other place in the world I'll guarantee. The locals are very friendly and Costas and Rania who own and run the apartments are no exception. the beaches are lovely, although the water sport places are starting to play music loudly on some which is a shame when you want to lie and just listen to the sea, but with so many on the island it's worth hiring a jeep and finding the right one.
An excellent holiday.
