Hotel Description:

Yiannis the owner is a beekeeper and claims to sell the most pure, fresh honey around these parts - try it and see for yourself. Surrounded by gardens, the family-run Yiannis is just a 700m walk from the beach and the centre of the resort. Manos guests have use of Billy's pool (110m).

" Underwhelmed "

We had high expectations of Yiannis apartments bearing in mind the reviews on this site. The location was good for a family, nice and quiet. The pool was excellent but some of the people around it quite parochial.I do realise the owners cannot select their guests so obviously this is not their fault. We were left with a nesty taste in our mouths however after being told that air conditioning is 5 euros a day, then being charged 10 euros a day because we had a 2 room apartment. We were then reprimanded for leaving it on through the day. The loo roll bins were not emptied regularly and the flies in our bathroom were appalling. The beds and towels were not changed till we had been there 10 days. The kitchen bin wasn't emptied unless we did it ourselves.I have been visiting Greece for 23 years now so I am used to quite basic accomodation, but I have to say their kitchen facilities were the worsewe have ever had. On a final note, my family and I had to buy airbeds to sleep on because the matresses and pillows were ancient and really lumpy and uncomfortable to sleep on. I have been home 5 days and I am still on pain killers for my back. This is the third time we have stayed in Kefalos and as usual the resort itself was lovely. On this occasion we discovered Marias Bar, which has cheap drinks and a good atmosphere.

" Nice and Relaxing "

Thanks to previous holiday reviews we picked the Yiannis Apartments. We were not disappointed, mind you we are returning in June but as Yiannis only have 12 rooms they are all fully booked so we are going to the Hermes Hotel instead. We had a great time last September. The apartments are very clean, rooms appear to have been cleaned every other day and the family are very pleasant. On a Monday night Sevvy and family do their own barbecue for their guests and it's free, although of course you will spend money at the bar but it's a nice touch. The resort itself is an eating and drinking haven. Pints of lager were in the region of just 1 Euro 50 at selected bars and most of the eateries are good value for money with lots of food. We hired a Quad Bike for the first time with Katerina's and it was fabulous. We shall do so again in June. If you want any more information please let me know. We also did the day trip to Nyssyros (volcano) and Kalymnos etc, well worth it. I cant wait to get back in June, I just hope the re-furbished Hermes is to my liking!!

" We have recently returned from two... "

We have recently returned from two very enjoyable weeks at Yiannis Apartments in Mastihari. We booked on the internet with Daphne who runs the Mastihari Uncovered website which contains a wealth of information for the independent traveller. It is well worth looking at! The apartments were well-equipped by Greek standards, spacious and very clean. Daphne, who has lived in Mastihari for the past 15 years, was on hand for any help, advice or recommendations at no cost whatsoever. If you want a really ‘Greek’ resort mingling with lots of locals, a beautiful beach, an excellent bus service to other parts of the island, friendly tavernas serving good, reasonably-priced food, no discos or loud music blaring out then Mastihari could well be for you.

been to yiannis apartments for the first time and had a great time at this family run accomodation. Yiannis, Sevvy and family could not do enough for you.Apartment kept clean and towels and bedding changed on a regular basis. Great pool and poolside bar, always made very welcome with snacks (crisps/nuts) on the table.I would recommend these apartments to anyone visiting Kefalos.
My teenage daughter says they do a fabulous cooked breakfast.

" Ideal location for crashing out and... "

Ideal location for crashing out and recharging those batteries for a week or two. The apartments are surrounded by well kept borders and flower beds with some amazing plants mixed up with various fruits and veg. Pool area is spotless with plenty of adjustable sun beds and parasols. The pool is an ideal size for doing a few lengths or just splashing about - it also has a separate section for small children. Bar is well stocked and quite reasonably priced. Bar snacks are available and reasonably priced. Rooms are basic but fully equipped for self catering. They are cleaned every two days with a change of towels. Air conditioning is available at an additional 5 euros a day. There is a supermarket about 2 minutes walk away which stocks more or less everthing you'll need - check dates on chilled goods if visiting at the start of the season though. Yiannis is about 7-8 mins walk from the tourist areas. The tourist areas are the Main Road and the sea front. The beach is course sand and there is a wide range of water sports. Those looking for traditional Greek food should go to 'Kampos' set back from the main road opposite Players Lounge - great homemade food and outstanding hospitality, or 'Faros' the last restaurant on the sea front as you head right. The Aussie Restaurant claims to have been voted number one but offers nothing to substantiate this claim - the lobster mignons in the surf and turf were creatively sliced seafood sticks and the steak was sponsered by Clarkes. For car hire ignore your travel rep and head to Manolis exactly the same package but 24 euros a day instead of 65 euros. An evening in Kos Town is recommended - Agora restaurant near the market square is great value and super quality set in an ideal people watching location in the shade of large trees.

Overall I would definately return to the Yiannis. Yianni and his family work hard to make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The honey is lovely - especially mixed up with some Greek yoghurt! Kefalos is a pleasant enough resort but is struggling to make ends meet as tour operators push people increasingly towards Kardamena. It was a little depressing to see so many empty bars and restaurants especially along the sea front. It is an ideal resort to visit for couples of all ages and young families. It is not a party town and if it's happy hours and all-nighters that you're after head to Kardamena.

" Ideal location, run by Yianni, Sevvy... "

Ideal location, run by Yianni, Sevvy and their family. rooms basic but very clean. great pool and poolside bar but could do with some background music for a better atmosphere, beach less than 10 mins, sand and shail with water sports plenty of beach cafes, try Bravos. Supermarket which sells everything about 100 mtrs away, plenty of restaurants on both the main road and harbour road, best food we found was, Aussie Bar(best steaks especially the New Yorker T-Bone) Rainbow across the road from the Aussie, Scorpios for curries these were to the left on the main road. Acropolis and Stop restaurants on the harbour side. Was not impressed with the Santa Barbara the food was very dry and the beer warm. All bars were very good, try Maria's bar on the harbour road for a good welcome run by 2 local brothers and decent prices cheapest around for all beers including Guinness and cocktails. Also try Sebastian 2 bar on the main road if you like all kinds of music, any request ganted from 50's to current time. Kefalos is very laid back and not commercialised as yet so enjoy this tranquil resort while you can.

" We have just returned from Kos and... "

We have just returned from Kos and want to go back again next year to the same place. We had such a lovely holiday made even more special by Yiannis and Sevvy, who run the Yiannis apartments in Kos. They made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The resort was peaceful and quiet with lot's of lovely restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend these apartments and this resort to anyone travelling to Kos. Also the weather was beautiful which is a huge bonus to us Brits!!!

" 15th visit in 9 years! 1 wk package... "

15th visit in 9 years! 1 wk package to Yiannis studios with Thomas Cook. Given honey made by Yianni on arrival & family very friendly. Bed not made or changed for the whole week. Towels changed every other day. No real evidence of cleaning in the room. Windows wooden & didn't fit very well. No:3 Best room though, probably as right side for sun + view over pool which was lovely - didnt try it - not important to us - prefer the sea. Not much in Kamari Bay is open 1st wk of season. Second 10 days in Studios Sevoula, run by Christina, opposite Manolis car + bike hire, main road - by far the best for hiring the quad + car; Catherine ex-pat + Katerina's english is v.good. Studio practically on the beach was clean +++, large with balcony. Christina is lovely, gave us eggs, oil, cookies and made ravani for the sunbed users everyday. 20(low season)-30euro(high)/day + 5euro for 2beds & umbrella. Recommended+++!! Restaurants: Rainbow (try the Mediterranean Cod!), Manos 24hr, Golden Fleece, Cafe Politis, Maria's Cafe Bar, Acropol Cafe, but for a really good meat meal - go to The Stop Inn (behind Maria's Restaurant) run by Irene and chef-husband & 2 sons -fab! Looking forward to trip No: 16 and to meet all our friends again: Ruby & David; Chris, Bill and Olive; Chris & Ken; ex-pats Kathy & Tom; and new friends - Pat & Duncan, Pat's birthday party we went to whilst in Sevoula - thank you again!

" Yiannis apartments are lovely quiet... "

Yiannis apartments are lovely quiet apartments and studios surrounded by peaceful gardens in a quiet country road about 10 minutes easy walk from the beach.

They were kept very clean by the friendly owners Yiannis and Eleni who tried very hard to make our stay a happy easy going one.
The beach is absolutely superb and there are plenty of pleasant restaurants and tavernas within walking distance. Agios Georgios is a beautiful place with some lovely walks.

We booked by telephone and to our delight found the accommodation far exceeded our expectations. All in all this was a great place to relax.

Brilliant apartments, very good Greek standard! With the added bonus of a new swimming pool. On arrival you are greeted with your complimentary pot of honey, really tasty.

Family run and very welcoming, really can't say enough good things about them. By the time your holiday is over you will be left wanting more! Can't wait till we re-book to go back.
