Rocha Brava Apartments reviews

Had an excellent holiday in the very well appointed Casa-Penn apartment, which was very spacious and homely, the new kitchen and bathroom are stunning. The Rocha Brava complex is extremely well kept, clean and has a nice serenity about it, feels very classy. The 3 swimming... more

Top class destination
Generally a great holiday stay, with young family (2 under 4 years) We were in unit 476B, a 'luxury' 2 bedroom apartment, overlooking the cliff-top pool. It was a very spacious, 2 level affair, with a *huge* split-level balcony and garden-level patio. 2 bathrooms, one with shower, one with bath. Moderate sized kitchen and large living area with sofa-bed. Most of the resort and the greater region is built on steep hills and cliffs and involves many steps and ramps. Not recommended for those with mobility problems. We... more
wonderful place to stay!
We were guests at this resort for 4 weeks. The hosts are very accommodating, the venue very pretty and comfortable, the resources(ie restaurants, food stores, cafes) are open often. All in all a great place to have for home base as there are many quaint villages to which one can travel. On Thursdays, there is a gathering of Canadians at Smiler's Bar in Carvoeiro- at 3 pm-a great place to meet fellow travellers from Canada
Not all apartments are equal ...
Rocha Brava is a lovely holiday complex with three swimming pools and extensive gardens. It is beautifully kept - always clean and neat. As the apartments are all privately owned, they do vary in quality of furniture and fittings, and obviously some have a better location on site than others. We have found it is better, and usually cheaper, to look for private owners via Google, rather than go direct to the management company, as then you know which apartment you are getting, and what it is like inside. Having said that, they are... more
Not 4 Star!
We have just returned from 18 days in Rocha Brava and found the apartment a big disappointment. Be warned this is not 4 Star accommodation as advertised. Our two bedroomed ground floor apartment (521A) was very tired. On arrival we found our patio doors would not lock and although the handyman did try to fix it - it was not secure. The apartment would benefit greatly from being painted, thoroughly cleaned and upgraded. The kitchen although adequate for basic needs was infested with ants - it was a constant battle to keep the works... more
absolutely stunning
We visited the Rocha Brava resort way back in 1998 and we have been coming back ever since, in fact almost every year. We have three children of various ages and the resort offers everything a family could want. choice of several beautiful pools, tennis courts, park, superb gym and something for the teens ( an internet cafe and pool table). The evenings can be passed by strolling to the poolside bar where the kids can have a dance, and there is a wonderful restaurant which serves superb food all beit a little pricey. The accomodation is well... more
Wonderful family holiday...
Stayed for a week - 2 adults - 2 kids (9 and 11) - had a wonderful relaxing time... Couldn't believe the size of the apartment when we got there; very generous rooms sizes. We had apartment 512A, on the ground floor, about 10 steps from one of the smaller, warmer pools in the wonderfully landscaped grounds. Reception were very helpful whenever we needed them (which wasn't often), but the Panorama rep. was pretty useless; started her welcome talk by admitting she knew nothing about the complex or surrounding area because she was... more
Location great but Rocha Brava could be better
The location is very good for beaches and the local town Carvioero has lots of restaurants to choose from (appx 2 miles). We stayed in 'luxuary' villa for 4, the additional cost seems to have been for a sea view (glimpse). The villa was outdated, the tumble drier was broken and the whole place smelt musty. The resort has a 4* classification, however we didn't have tea towels, washing up sponges or a hairdryer! Overall we wouldn't go back, compared to Balia Golf resort where we went last year Balia wins hands down. In it's favour... more
Very nice and clean complex
My husband and I have just returned from the Rocha Brava complex. We were very impressed with how clean and well look after the area is. I was slightly disappointed with the apartment we had at first but this was due to seeing pictures of other beautiful apartments on the complex online before going out there so my expectations were very high. I was told that double rooms are on the ground floor and twin rooms on the top floor. Unfortunately should you have an apartment downstairs be prepared for hearing your neighbours upstairs. Sound... more
Superb apartment and beautiful resort, loved it
Had an excellent holiday in the very well appointed Casa-Penn apartment, which was very spacious and homely, the new kitchen and bathroom are stunning. The Rocha Brava complex is extremely well kept, clean and has a nice serenity about it, feels very classy. The 3 swimming pools are all good and each have separate kiddie paddling pools. The Reception staff at the complex couldn't be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Theres also some very picturesque beaches close by esp the beautiful Marinha beach. Carvoeiro village is very... more
Great Honeymoon location
We stayed in Rocha Brava in October for our honeymoon, and both my and my new wife were complerely impressed. Our apartment was a lower level, with a walk out to the back lawn. We were on a cliff, with a view of the ocean. The sunsets were incredable. The apartment itself was spaceous, and tastful. Everything we could have wanted was included in the kitchen, and since we love to cook, it was great. A small fridge was more then enough, and the stove was acceptable (took a bit to heat up, but otherwise fine) The staff was... more
