Traveled as a family of 4 (children 8 and 14). Had a wonderful holiday. Complex very relaxing and easygoing. Fantastic atmosphere and no late night noise. My 8 year old spent most of her time in the pool and my 14 year old was happy enough with the basketball and... more

Arrived at this hotel at roughly dinner time on a Sunday & took an instant dislike. The staff were unhelpful & snappy. The complex was like faulty towers in every way. We were quite a walk from the centre of Alvor & beach, we generally regretted ever setting eyes on the... more

I have been going with my husband to Quinta Nova Apartments for 7 weeks in January and February for many years. The apartments are reasonably furnished, including fridge and full size cooker. There is a small supermarket on site which stocks most basic things, and a larger... more

great value for money
we stayed here in july me my partner and three childern accomadation clean maids came every day except sunday as we stayed on a allinclusive basis food ok had two dodgy days out of the fortnight where there was not much choice kids loved the icecream as there was several different flavours and of course it was all free which pleased me the daytime entertaiment team were brill mini disco for kids at night all in english but sadly the adult entertainment was rubbish and reapeated itself the second week so it was early nights for us second week reccomend using the free bus to beach from complex as ithe hotel is on top of a steep road and aboat fifteen mins away 2 hours if talking young children as we found out they dont want to walk after a day at the beach i loved the beach at alvor reccomend awalk to the coves beautifuL !!!!!!!!! not much in town nice and quiet didnt eat out much as we enjoyed the food in hotel overall a good holiday my eldest daughter who is thirteen was a bit bored and lived on the internet in reception but my younger two loved the hippo club recmend this hotel for families with young children
Accommodation Basic Food Basic would maybe stay again self catering but doubtful
A couple in our early fifty's we have just come back from a weeks holiday on a fully inclusive basis, we found the accommodation and the food very basic indeed. No directions on the complex to help you to find your way around, paths very slippery. The food served is much the same each day and is not a good example of typical Portuguese food. There is no display showing what it is your are supposed to be eating and the salad bar which probably has the most choice is not kept chilled. I believe that the Quinta Nova is fairly new to catering for fully inclusive packages and this may have been part of the problem, as they appear to have much to learn. Children staying seemed to enjoy the entertainment, and the entertainment staff made a lot of effort. Alvor itself is a lovely town with lots of good restaurants and an excellent beach, would not hesitate going back but would probably not stay at Quinta Nova.
Not a Lot
Firstly, when we put the two single beds together they were different heights and extremely uncomfortable. Then there was the smell of raw sewage every morning. Expensive and slow at the poolside bar. If you have get a problem and need to go to reception you will be kept waiting while workers have 20 minute conversations with one another. Also my partners mobile phone and charger got stolen from the room buy a guy whose watch broke off and fell into her suitcase. All we were told at the reception was that it was a mans watch so therefore could not have been one of the cleaners!! Only up side was the two childrens entertainers who were great.
Basic but clean and Friendly
We arrived at the Quinta Nova as two couples in our early 60s. We had requested adjoining apartments which were provided with doors opposite, this was realy convenient. The apartment had a nice size bedroom with very confortable twin beds, our only complaint was we had no storage space unlike our friends who had a chest of drawers. The kitchen was reasonably equipped for four people with full size cooker, microwave and toaster, alough our friends had no toaster. The lounge had a put-u-up bed easy chair table and cabinet, from the lounge was a balcony with table and two chairs.Although the room was a little tired and dated it was kept spotless with a daily maid service, except Sundays. We only came into contact with the reception staff and the maids who were always extreemly friendly and helpfull. As it was the end of March none of the facilities were open.Although we had a car it was only a ten minute walk into Alvor where we found excellent restaurants serving a large selection of food including locally caught fresh fish. We would have no hesitation in returning to the Quinta Nova as we thought it was very good value
Not that bad
I stayed here with may family last August and had a ggod time. The accoMmodation is quite basic but ok. The food is ok but much the same each night, they cater for a range of nationalities so there is some food that we brits may not be used to. I would also suggest that you stay in an apartment away from pool area as these can be noisy until late. The pool whch is further away from the bar is much nicer and also quieter and much cleaner. The staff are not to bad give them a tip and they might be more helpful. I would not return as i have been to better for a more reasonable cost. I also recommend a trip to the water parks if you have kids as these are great! Change your money in the supermarket in Alvor town as you get the best exchange rate.
very good value for money
We stayed at the hotel in the last week of September and we were surprised by the constant whinging from other guests about the food and the staff. The food was more than adequate and there was a varied menu BUT the food was not English style which seemed to upset a lot of the guests who previously had been on self catering holidays and gone out to local cafes and restaurants to partake of their full english breakfast and steak and chips! The hotel is only a 3 star and the price of staying there is very cheap so let's face it you get what you pay for, which in our experience was very good value for money. The hotel was very clean and our appartment very spacious especially as we were all inclusive and only used the kitchen to make coffee. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful especially to those who could remember the odd please and thank you but unfortunately there were not too many people who thought that the staff deserved such treatment. We travel several times a year and stay in both 3 star and 5 star plus all inclusive hotels and would say that this hotel is extremely good value for money. The town of Alvor is lovely as is the beach and the hotel put on a coach several times a day to the town and beach free of charge but we had hired a car very cheaply before we left home and picked it up at Faro airport. Anybody thinking of staying in this hotel or any other hotel ,in any country, on an all inclusive basis should realise that the food will be what is eaten locally and there will not always be English cuisine on the menu. Also if you are only booking a 3 star hotel then it is very rare that you will get 5 star accomodation and food for that price. We most certainly will return some time in the future to the Quinta Nova because Alvor was lovely and it was also a good base from which to travel around the Algarve and see all the sights.
Don't Go!!
Luckily we were only staying here for one night in between our stay at the Alto Club, but I couldn't believe that people could stay in a place like this for two week. It really was like Cell Block H - we were in cell block 16 - the living room was small with 70's furniture and cracked tiles, the kitchen had your basic essentials in poor condition and the bathroom was really smelly. If I had been staying here longer than one night, I would definitely have moved on. Apart from that the resort of Alvor is absolutely perfect with a fantastic beach and great for families
Cell Block H
We agree wholeheartedly with the person who visited this complex in April 2005 - our comments would be identical and I wonder whether we were allocated the same apartment! Ours too was disgraceful; smelly, dilapidated, poorly equipped. The paths running through the resort are well-worn cobbles which run up and downhill and are treacherous. Sadly we also found the bar staff were rude to anyone on the new "all-inclusive" package (apparently because this means they no longer receive tips) and ensured they were served last. We definitely would not go back to Quinta Nova Sun Club and had we been staying for any longer than 1 week we too would have complained and would have moved on. Fortunately the village of Alvor is delightful;fabulous beaches and lots of really good restaurants (we chose to eat out even though we'd paid for all-inclusive!) so our holiday wasn't completely ruined and we'll definitely go back to Portugal.
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!
Only Two of us went on this holiday, but we had a fantastic time! All the staff were very friendly and I would definitely reccomend the Qunita Nova Sun Club to anyone !!!!! The appartments were good and we wouldn't have had a better time anywhere else.
Never ever ever ever again
First allocated room was smelly and very poorly furnished. Second room was marginally better but had an ant infestation. Resort transport had windows missing. Staff unhelpful, food poor, games room and bar area dated. Walkways around complex trechorous be careful I nearly broke my leg !! Best bit moving to the hotel behind this one the Iberotel even though it cost an addtional 300 euros. First and last time to Portugal because of this experience. Think twice before booking even on a late deal.
