" Not too bad for the money paid "
Submitted By: kee1984Our air con broke twice and we were left overnight in July heat as they had no engineers in the evening. The second occasion was a lot quicker and it was fixed within an hour or so. The staff were mainly friendly but the hotel Manager could do with career change! The cost of food and drink on site was expensive really and if you have kids i could see it being costly. There is no beach near the hotel, only the harbour which is nice with the breeze but not suitable for swimming. You have to get a bus to Coral beach which is about 20 minutes away. Take food and drink with you as there is only one shop/kiosk and they charge silly amounts of money.
Paphos itself is a real tourist trap. Whilst i like to feel welcome and have food that caters for all, it was almost like staying in Leicester Square London. If you want to experience traditional food you need to hire a car or get on a bus away from the tourist area.
Drinking out was also expensive. A local beer was around 3 euros and imported was 4 euros. There is a bar street which has a small strip of bars all of which have PR girls trying to entice you in. Be prepared to pay 5 euros for a smirnoff ice and the same for an imported drink. You cn sometimes get two for price of one so that isn't too bad.
Overall it was a good holiday and i think my advice would be to get a half board deal or stay a little bit out of Kato Paphos so you can experience Cyrpus.
Advice: It is expensive and very touristy. Be prepared to spend more money than you would in the UK.
Activities: Coral beach a short bus ride away
" FANTASTIC HOLIDAY "
Submitted By: debrahardyI could live in Cyprus if i had €150,000 free to buy an apartment.
I defy anyone to go to paphos and not have a fantastic holiday.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE.
Advice: Fantastic place everyone is so friendly.
Activities: KALIMERA RESTAURANT OPPOSITE OTHELLOS.
Good for: Beach
" fantastic "
Submitted By: lindabownessprestonReception staff were helpful when needed but we had very little call on their time. The pool area was delightful and the pool itself was a haven in the heat.
The promenade was five minutes away and during that time we passed numerous restaurants - too many to try when we were just there for a week. Our favourite was Rustic Kitchen just down the road. We could have eaten there every night and each had something different. Tea for Two was another we enjoyed but this had a more limited menu but still very enjoyable.
A trip on the bus to Coral Bay gave us an enjoyable day on a lovely sandy beach though the taverna there was rather limited. The Troodos tour up to the monastry was not to be missed but if you don't like heights don't sit by the window.
Good value for money and a fantastic place to stay. Have already recommended it and would go back there if we went to Paphos again

" Once is enough but still a good hotel "
Submitted By: beasty259The rooms were what you would expect, nothing special but just what you need. The maid service was good and they kept the room very clean. The view wasn't great as we didnt have a pool view and the view we had was of the gardens which doesn't sound bad but there was a tree blocking most of the view.
THE POOL - 9/10
The best part of the hotel was easily the pool. Its big enough to accomadate everyone that wanted to go in it and tehre is a section which is where the adults tended to go and just through a little bridge a section with water shoots and sprays where the children would be.
OTHER HOTEL ACTIVITIES - 6/10
Just next to the swimming pool was a couple of pool tables and table tennis tables which i would usually use but unfortunatly there were hoels in the table tennis tables and the pool tables were ripped. Behind the hotel was a newly refurbished park and a volley ball net which looked quite good but becuase of its location away from the pool it was never used but at least its there if you do want to use it.
LOCATION - 8/10
Your right next to the main street full of bars and restuerants but you dont hear anny noise when your at the hotel. A short walk form the harbour and a few ruins if that interests you.

Submitted By: Mr G LikeEverything clean and tidy, with a maid cleaning around us most days as we prepared to go out and about! Pool excellent... it's big enough to do lengths! Parking for hire cars under hotel in shade. Air con in appartment worked well - didn't struggle in the July/Aug heat.
Recommended eating: Edelweiss, towards the end of bar street for real home cooking, run by father and son. Rock Taverna: Just walk down towards the seafront - you can't miss it. It's run by a guy with a South African accent whose lived in Cyprus long enough to know what is important.
We hired a rather grotty air/con Suzuki Alto from Chris's cars: 10 days for Euro 24/day - 2 drivers. It struggled but got us everywhere we wanted to go!
You must visit Adonis Baths. The road is interesting... take your time over the pot holes... go early and take your swimming costumes... a nice cool alternative in the July/Aug heat.
Hopeful this link will show the extent of the Sofiana's grounds, including the garden and play fields: http://tinyurl.com/5g3u4x and some other useful places we visited.
Get to know Andreas and others in reception... he can help you out and can book tickets at no extra cost.
Note: Some local attractions have free bus transfers.
Overall: totally recommended

Submitted By: Mrs P E HATTONYou can get much cheaper at the Rose Bar, but if you want to stay on site this is ideal. Apartments cater for all age groups, no problems with noise from Bar Street which is very close by. We frequented Zorros bar very friendly and reasonably priced. We ate in the Moonlight Tavern good home cooked food, Greek family run right opposite Sofianna, they will do whatever to please you. Just to meet Chris the front of house guy is worth a visit, unfortunately with the temperatures topping 40 we rather lost our appetites.

Submitted By: Miss K GThe staff were wonderful, especially the staff in the pool bar. There was a nice pool, section for the kids, park as well as an indoor pool and sauna.
The Appartment it self was cleaned every day except for a sunday. Fresh towels every day too.
Its situation in the quiter part of Paphos, but it is in walking distance of everything.
If you like a good curry I would defintley recommend the Raj Curry House.
Overall really nice appartments, so good we are thinking about going back next year!

Submitted By: Mr M StrickletonHas there is only 2 of us we have a studio which is quiet spacious and well kitted out.
The tv is very handy bbc 1 and sky news 26 inch picture.
We allways request a room facing the gardens which we allways get.
The pool is fantastic plus plenty of sunbeds which are allways available.
The pool bar does english beakfast and food to 5pm. Prices not to bad.
In recieption there is all so a bar.
Big supamarket 5 min walk with a cafe in.
Even though all the bars are on your door step it is very quiet once in your apartment.
It is only a 10 minute walk to the sea front where the tavernas and harbour is.
Staff are great and very obliging.
Looking forward to going back 2008

Submitted By: Mrs Pam KingSOME PLACES TO RECOMMEND ARE THE ZOROS PUB AND GEORGE AND DRAGON BAR THEY SELL DRINKS FOR VERY REASONABLE PRICES AND THE OWNERS ARE SO NICE.
FOR EATING YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE WINDMILL RESTAURANT IS ONLY A FEW METERS AWAY FROM THE HOTEL. THEY HAVE SET MENUS WITH 3 COURSE DINNER FOR A VERY GOOD PRICE. THE FOOD IS LOVELY AND THE OWNER IS SO FRIENDLY.RESTAURANT WAS RECOMMEND BY SUNDAY TIMES AND SKY T.V. THEIR MEZE IS EXCELLENT BUT COULDN'T FINISH IT THEY WERE SO MANY THINGS TO EAT. THE FOOD IS PERFECT. WE ALSO WENT TO CORAL BAY. ATE IN PALM GROVE AND SIENNA. YOU MUST TRY ALL OF THEM.
YOU CAN GO TO THE HARBOUR SEE THE CASTLE THE MOSAICS ODEON AND SARANTA COLONES. DON'T EAT AT THE RESTAURANTS THERE. FOOD DOESN'T WORTH.
HAD GREAT HOLLIDAYS.

We have so far spent the last 14 years visiting Pafos, and I think that for 6-7 of them we've stayed at the Sofianna apts...the rooms are always very clean and airy, and the air con is very efficient, in fact after walking around in the scorching sunshine all day, it's like entering a fridge when you get back to your room.
I must agree with other people's reviews when they say how quiet Sofianna is, you would never guess that there is so much activity going on just around the corner.
Regarding the local restaurants, the best one quality, and price wise is directly opposite the Sofianna and is called the Palermo...the staff are the best that we've ever encountered, and the food is wonderful...a little further afield there is the Mandra Taverna, a little pricey, but there again the quality is first rate...their Garlic Mushrooms are the best in Cyprus!.. at the other end of the street from the George and Dragon you will find the Othello Taverna, well worth a visit...I cannot praise the places that I have mentioned too highly, and would recommend them to anyone, there again, what can I say more about the Cypriot people other than, wonderful!!!!
As I said to begin with, roll on June!
