Meliton Deluxe Thalasso & Spa at Porto Carras Grand Resort

I stayed at this hotel Tuesday, May 21 through Friday, May 25th for a business meeting. My review as follows: Room nice, with great balconies and views.....Maid service outstanding. Beds hard as a rock. Service overall good. Most people had a good laid-back attitude and seemed eager to please. Four friends and myself have been going to the Meliton for 15 years or so. It is a very good hotel with friendly helpful staff. The hotel is right on the beach and there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols. There is a beach bar and a pool bar. The pool area and meandering swim area also has beds and umbrellas. I stayed at the Meliton for one week after organising a work conference there. The hotel should receive an award for the rudest most unhelpful staff every employed. The reception process was painful the staff behind the desk were busy talking to each other or busy trying not to be helpful. The rooms were spacious ours overlooked the Marina and the sea, our room was clean and made up every day although we did have to constantly ask for fresh water. The Meliton is a very, very large resort complex advertised as 4-5 stars. I would rate it as a 3 star. The hallways are impersonal and huge, never-ending journeys to your room. The room is renovated and large, has a nice view, and a decent bathroom. The restaurants are below mediocre, they are poorly serviced and offer junky restaurant food. The swimming pool is nice, the shuttle service to Neo Marmaris (the town nearby) is great because that's where you will end up eating real Greek food, the beachbar is in need of a bartender's guide... more

I have stayed there 10 days during an International Horse Show which was being held at the Resort..I have been told that the compound was in the receivership process and Banks were managing the resort..It is a pity..Thus may be that is why there were no European tourists but a lot of free staying native gamblers... May be that is also why all the Greek staff was unbearably rude impatient and unpleasant..However some of the service staff which seemed to be from Chezc Republic and Poland was very pleasant..The food overall was terrible.... more

My wife and Ì, who are not resort people, spent 3 nights at Porto Carras for a medical meeting. The site was a caricature of problems with resorts for non-resort people. Furniture was nice and the room spacious. The principal restaurant was USA fat-person food and not at all Greek or appropriate portions or selections. Service in the restaurant also fairly poor. The saving grace was a walk along the beach for a km to the nearby small town of New Marmaras - which was still tourist -oriented, but still charming and had wonderful Greek food... more

We stayed at Meliton the first weekend of June. For those who don't know, it is part of a huge holiday resort which has the size of a town (yes, that's right !), in which you'll find a casino, plenty of sport facilities, a marina, stores, etc. The rooms are spacy, very clean and beautifully furnished. Very impressive entrance into resort. Arrived at Meliton hotel which looked so impressive on the internet and immediately thought of a "Conference Hotel". Hotel was basically empty, with almost every activity advertised, not available. Room was very nice, which is where I stayed most evenings. I stayed last July 05 at Porto Carras hotel at Meliton resort, and i had the best experience ever!!! The place is gorgious, and the hotel service is incredible. We are a couple with 2 kids 4 and 2 years old and we had everything we asked for the kids. Its the 2nd time we went there and we decided to go every year for some days. The pools are impressive, the beach is very well organised, and the reasturants had excellent meals. The room service was perfect, and the rooms were very clean! My husband and I went to Port Carras last June 2004, it looked wonderful on the internet,night club,casino ect..but we were very disappointed, if it hadn't of been for the lovely greek people our holiday would have been a disaster.
