The Paladim. Good pool, pleasant sunbathing area. Rooms clean, good size & quiet at night (room overlooking pool better than overlooking roadside - sea view on third floor). Good size balcony. Location is fantastic (equi-distant) for Fishermans Beach, Old Town, Strip and... more

The room we were given on arrival on Thursday (103) is right outside a 6 lane rounderbout this resulted in constant traffic noise from 6am to 3am the next morning . This resulted in us trying to sleep for 3 hours.-guess what no sleep at all!!! Next morning Friday we went... more

We stayed in a studio over looking the pool. The hotel overall was nice and regulary cleaned. The bar was cheap and served nice snacks. Happy hour is from 13.00 till 17.00 and a pint is €1.50 which is fantastic. The only complaint I would have is the room. The studio's... more

Stayed at Paladim on 17 Aug 2008. Age group from 20 to 56. Had two One bedroom apartments on the front of the hotel. Yes the road is busy but it was fun watching the traffic. At night once the doors were shut we couldn't here a thing, so we had no problems and thought... more

Well, back from the Paladim this week. Not bad apartments, as a whole, however, how they can claim to be a 4* hotel when some rooms dont even have 1 bed in beats me! Bearing in mind Hotels in Dubai such as the Jumeriah Beach is only 1* more, I feel like I have been... more

Great value for money
Tina and Mal - Liverpool. My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful 2 week holiday, staying in the Paladim. Rooms cleaned every day and staff were always polite and helpful. Only downside is our room was above the Eden Bar and our peaceful chilled out holiday was ruined by the very loud evening entertainment (and karaoke) most nights. Would recommend as long as not in room 202! Lots to see and do, Vilarmoura, old town, and Praia da Oura beach a must. Zoo Marine and Slide and Splash well worth a visit too. Would well recommend Doce Diner tucked away in the town. Hello to Linda and Linsday - wonderful hosts and not to be missed!!!!! No problems with sun beds around poolside due to time of year. Had great weather for full 2 weeks. Got a last minute Thomas Cook bargain, and would definately return :o)
One week was too short !
My family and I stayed at this appartment for one week, from the 19th August, and we didn't want to leave ! We were probably there at the same time as Rhonda in the previous review! I went with my husband and two sons, aged 3 and 11 years old. The appartment was lovely, very spacious, spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped with all the utensils you could possibly need. One hint: bring some washing up liquid and a j cloth with you! I forgot these and therefore had nothing to do the washing up with! Was a waste of money having to buy a bottle of washing up liquid and a packet of 3 scourers just for one week! The two pools were excellent and again very clean. No sign of seagulls! My 3 year old loved the kiddies pool, as it was shallow enough for him to paddle in. There is definately a problem with the sunbeds however! Unless you were up at 8am, you had no chance! There are notices everywhere, asking people not to reserve the beds with their towels, but they are ignored! Eden's Bar was ok for snacks and Happy Hour was great! 1 euro for a large glass of wine! Cocktails were nice too! The location itself is good, except if you have little kids. The problem we found, was that the pavements were too narrow for our buggy, they were also cobblestoned. So after two days we gave up with the buggy! This meant at the end of the evening, we had a very tired 3 year old, who had to be carried home. As the journey back to the hotel is all uphill, we had to wait for either the tourist train or a cab, as it was too far to carry him back. Both of these had long queues. However, on the whole we had a wonderful holiday and would definately consider the Paladim in the future, once the little one is a bit older!!
great location
We are a family of four who have just returned from a weeks stay in Paladim Appts., Albufeira. We have two boys, 15 yrs and 10 yrs, who really enjoyed themselves by the pool and made lots of friends. The appartments have a great location and plenty of shops and restaurants on the doorstep, it is about a 10 min walk to Old Town and the tourist train takes you to the strip. The appartments were spacious, very clean and well equiped. The pool area was very well maintained but could do with more sunbeds. There is a rule that you do not use the pool area until 9.oo am and that you do not leave towels on sunbeds you are not using but unfortunately most people did not adhere to same. We will definately return! Rhonda, Dublin, Ireland. Travelled with Panorama Hols, Ireland
loved it
went as a family of 4 for 2 weeks from 18th June- 1st July 2006. Great apartments great maid service, friendly rececption staff and rep. This was our 2nd visit to Albufeira and these apartments were much much better than last years 4 star aparthotel. The best resort in the Algarve plenty on offer with the "strip" and the old town to choose from.Cheap cab service and fun tourist train to get around the resort. Would stay again at the Paladim pool are was large with plenty of places to sunbath if no loungers were available as there is alot of grass area around the pool which is nice.
Ups And Downs!!
Hi, we are a couple in our early 20's with a daughter who is a year old, we stayed in the paladim apartments from jun 18- june 25 2006, we found the hotel's maid service very good, they were always cleaning the rooms and the hallways, pool area was lacking enough sunbeds, so you will have to get up early to get a sun shade with decent sunbeds as there is not enough sunbed cushions to around. There is a supermarket right next door that has everything you will need, although prices are not that much cheaper. The area surrounding the hotel and everywhere for that matter is full of hills anbd can be very tiring if you have a baby and a buggie as we did. zoo marine was good but needs to be bigger for the money you pay, but dolphin show was brilliant!
Fantastic
13 guys from Kent stayed at the Paladim between 15th and 22nd June 2006. mainly intown to watch alot of the World Cup and enjoy what Albufeira had to offer. Hotel was excellent, rooms were very clean, maid service was top notch (imagine tiding up after 13 guys !) Fresh towels, toilet paper every day. Pool area had the most inflatables I've ever seen, looks like people leave them when they go home so everyone happy. Sunbeds were there but you had to be up early-ish to get one (we weren't !) Eden's bar was good, happy hour(half price 5-7pm) Sagres beer only 70p a pint ! Entertainment in bar too, although we were always out. Location of Hotel is great, 10 mins between old town (beach) and the strip, taxi rank/bus stop just outside, supermarket/banks next door.. Perfect. Splas and slide is the best waterpark, 21.50 euros from hotel for bus/entrance. Casa de Fonte(restaurant) and Steps Bar(say hi to Jason/Sara) in old town, worth a hunt down. Will definitely be planning another trip to Albufeira soon Paul Brinkman
excellent
just back from the paladim excellant apartments and brill holiday i have read so many rewiews about there studios being crap. well i went with my partner and my little boy at 16mts and i have no complaints what so ever it was clean there was plenty space and we had a pool veiw staff we great. we are going back next year best holiday we have had yet.
Nice
Stayed at the Paladim at the end of May for a week. Stayed in a Studio room, very basic had a few problems but nothing major! Sofa pull out bed (Very uncomfortable) was like a camp bed tried to upgrade to Appartment but couldn't. Good location, hotel is 15 mins walk to strip and 15 mins walk to old town. You need to get a sunlounger by the pool at 9.30 ish as they all went by 10 and there's not alot around the pool. Had lunch in hotel a couple of times nice lunch time snacks!
Dreadful
Just returned from a 4 night break (but stayed 2) at the Paladim. On arrival we asked if the room had a pool view, having read some of the earlier comments that they were the nicer rooms. The man on reception said yes, then looked at the booking sheet, changed his mind and said the room was on the other side, meaning a road view and that although the hotel was not full we even offered to pay to change to a pool view, but he was not prepared to help. Although the location on the whole is very good, at best I would rate this as 2 star plus and maybe with a pool view - 3 star. Our room had the most disgusting smell. I can only assume it was previoulsy occupied by a chain smoking Agoraphobic with a firm dislike for fresh air. The view from our room was of a litter ridden canopy, above a bar selling ready cooked chickens, possibly hence the Agoraphobic chain smoker! After 2 nights we left and moved to much nicer accomodation in the resort resort of Gale.
Fantastic
Stopped with my family for 1 week. We've been coming every year to the Algarve for the last 8 years or so and this has to be the best hotel we've stayed in. One of the good things with this place is your bang central for most things. Old town is about a ten minute walk whilst the strip is about 15 minutes. There's a taxi rank just outside for the less energetic and a bus route close by. For shopping there's Modello's which is literally next door and a smaller supermarket just over the road. As for the hotel we were lucky to get a room overlooking the pool. The rooms were fairly spacious and clean although if I had one negative thing to say they were a little bit on the basic but we weren't that bothered considering the length of time we were in it for. The pool was quite large with plenty of sunloungers and the reception staff were always freindly. Without doubt the winner for me was the Eden Bar. 5-7pm was happy hour with half priced Beer and locally produced spirits. Basically a large beer was normally 2 euro's was only 1 which is around 70p. The couple that ran the bar were really freindly and they also had a games room for the kids with 2 pool tables. They also had entertainment on most nights. Normally this was Kareoke but a couple of times singers came in ( Carlo's Lara was one). In the end we had a very enjoyable stay and would definatly come back again.
