" Brilliant "

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the Paladim apartments in the first week of march. The weather wasn't brilliant but we wasn't banking on it, so it wasnt much of a let down. - It was still weyy hotter than england.
We got the paladim apartments for a VERY reasonable price so were not expecting much from them either. We arrived at mid-day but were expecting to be refused check in until late afternoon as stated on the hotel policy, to our surprise they allocated to our room and were VERY friendly.
We were staying in a ground floor studio rather than apartment, it was very spacious and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Air conditioning was free and the kitchen and bathroom were fully equiped with everything you need (even a bottle opener, hurrah).
The only bad thing about the room was the beds, it was a sofa bed and not the comfiest. Nothing to put us off though.
Me and my boyfriend are very young so liked dining out, there were plenty of restaurant around, in the old town and the strip (which there is a tourist train to, operating all day- very useful). WE reccomend the mexican in the old town.
There is a HUGE supermarkeet right next door and directly opposite aswell as a mcdonalds, kfc, subway and pizza hut all on the same road.
We Loved this holiday and would urge anyone to book.
#unfortunately we didnt get to go in the pool because of the weather. There was a bar downstairs in the hotel were the drinks were ery reasonably priced, especially happy hour 1.50 a pint!! Lovely hotel, loely staff, lovely place.

Advice: would love to go back in summer

" Paladim Apartments "

The apartments are amazing. okay it was our 6th year hoilday and we weren't expecting alot but we thought we'd won the lottery. the place was VERY VERY clean and the pool was nice and was NEVER over crowded. the bar downstairs was extreamly cheap and the food was good for the days we couldnt walk the length of ourselfs. the surrounding area was also REALLY really handy with the supermarket across the road and local cafes also very cheap for food and drink we didnt have to go far to enjoy ourselves. however on nights out the local 'strip' was visible for the room and in definate walking distance (although there was next to no noise) and if walking aint your thing it was only about 2euros for a taxi. in the opposite direction was the old town also in walking distance but further than the strip this was full of authentic little bars and resturants, and the beach and could be accessed buy the local tourist train 3euors for the whole day! overall an amazing holiday and will definatly go again!!

Good for: Beach

" We stayed in a studio over looking... "

We stayed in a studio over looking the pool. The hotel overall was nice and regulary cleaned. The bar was cheap and served nice snacks. Happy hour is from 13.00 till 17.00 and a pint is €1.50 which is fantastic. The only complaint I would have is the room. The studio's are over cluttered with furniture and the beds are sofa beds which are uncomfortable and squeak. Top tip 'the sofa bed that pulls out from underneath has legs'. You have to pay €10 Euro's as a deposit on a remote and €50 deposit for a safe plus €15 a week for use of it which I think is wrong. If I was to go back I would make sure I had an apartment as they are much nicer

Both the new town and old town are excellent. Places I would recommend to eat in the new town are The Yorkshire pub, St Mary's & the Celtic bar next door. The old town is lovely but some of the larger restaurants are over priced and charge you high prices for extra's such as bread. We found a strip of restaurants at the far side of the town behind The Funky Fish which are traditional and cheap.

" Stayed at Paladim on 17 Aug 2008.... "

Stayed at Paladim on 17 Aug 2008. Age group from 20 to 56. Had two One bedroom apartments on the front of the hotel. Yes the road is busy but it was fun watching the traffic. At night once the doors were shut we couldn't here a thing, so we had no problems and thought the rooms were better than the poolside as they are not overlooked. Rooms were clean and towels changed regularly and a well stocked kitchen. Prices for drinks etc were good in our hotel, my daughter was staying a few hotels away and hers was a nicer hotel but dearer to eat and drink in. The day we left and had to get up early we found out that the towels on the sunbed rules DID NOT apply and most beds had gone at 08:15 (no people just towels!). As we used the pool late afternoons we could always find a bed or two. The beach is nice but the sea is very cold. Had some great meals out down around the square and was very glad of the new escalators to get you back to the top of the cliff as it is still a long walk to the top of the main road where the hotel is. Got a taxi to the harbour 5 euros for a trip out on a speedboat to see the dolphins, brilliant time. Also went to Silvas and up the mountain to the highest point in Portugal. Booked both trips from a shop just off the square. we would all recommend the Paladim as a good base and would stay again.

" Me and my friend just came back from... "

Me and my friend just came back from albufiera a couple of weeks ago. We had a fantastic time!! Paladim was brilliant, the room was really clean, the floors were washed everyday, and we also had clean towels and toilet roll everyday. We were lucky enough to have a family room so it was really spacious, it also had a really nice view of the pool ( number 004).The hotel staff were really nice. We went on the rep pub crawl which was in the strip, this was soo much fun!! really recommend it! Theres also some good shows on in the old town, and lots of entertainment! The strip is really good to especially matts bar!

This hotel is brilliant will be going again!!!!!!!

" My Mum & Dad took me and my best... "

My Mum & Dad took me and my best mate to Portugal for 2 weeks and it was the best holiday of our lifes! The strip is much better than the old town and much more lively.. Matt's bar and Garage were our favourites.. The pool was nice and refreshing and Mcdonalds and KFC were over the road which was good.. The restaurants were good value and there was a nice Itallian restaurant down the strip.. Also we ended up in the kebab house one night! The beach was ok but the banana boat wasnt that good as it didnt throw us off.. It was a brilliant holiday and we wish we were going back! Would recommend to teenage girls aged 15-16 taking a mate on holiday! Reception dindt like us and the boys we met up with much though and there was an old man who didnt like us jumping in the pool in the night!!! Best holiday ever!!

" Well, back from the Paladim this... "

Well, back from the Paladim this week.

Not bad apartments, as a whole, however, how they can claim to be a 4* hotel when some rooms dont even have 1 bed in beats me!

Bearing in mind Hotels in Dubai such as the Jumeriah Beach is only 1* more, I feel like I have been ripped off!

Basically, one of us had to sleep on the sofa, and one on the narrow mattress stored below (which had stains on (nice!!)).

When we complained about this at reception on the first day, we were told "we cant do anything about it, see your tour operator" - we were only there for a week, we weren't going to be messing about contacting our tour operator and wasting our holiday.

The Pool area is nice, the staff are friendly, and the food / beer is reasonable.

We didn't have our towels changed every day, as we were told we would, and when we asked for new towels, they were reluctant to give us any.

Located ideally next to the large Modelo supermarket, and opposite a McDonalds & KFC - you could say it is in a good position. However, although the strip, beach, and old town are within walking distance, you dont want to be doing this every night. We were told thestrip is 800m from the apartments - maybe this is as the crow flies? A taxi to either is about 3.9 euros.

Personally, I wouldnt go back to the Paladim (simply because there is much better apartments out there). In my opinion, this should be a 3* Max.

" we recently visited paladim on a... "

we recently visited paladim on a girls holiday. We absolutely loved the holiday, it was fantastic, but for a family hotel i would not reccomend it. The hotel was very loud, and you could hear people moving funiture at all hours of the night! (trust me we were awake!) the noisy road outside is very busy until about 2am everymorning and then quietens down for a few hours, but still extremely noisy. most of the time this didnt bother us as we were knocked out from exsessive amounts of alcahol, but if you plan on bringing children i seriously think you should consider going elsewhere. for a lad's or girls hliday it has a great if you are on a low budget. I also would like to comment that in the handbook it stated towels were changed daily, when a few times we had to ask for clean towls as houskeeping didnt come! i did complain and they came everydy after that. they also said the sheets would be changed twice a week and our bed sheets didnt get changed once. the location is good for being near the supermarket, its a 2 minuite walk (literally) and the supermarket is fantastic. taxi's to the strip or oura beach are at max 4.70 euro's. but for the holiday... lets just say i loved it so much im desperately trying to go back this year!

" Just back from two weeks at the... "

Just back from two weeks at the paladim. What a holiday. I have to say we had a great time. My husband and I travelled with our 15 year old daughter and her friend. Our apartment was overlooking the pool, room 002. The rooms were a fine size and were cleaned and the towels changed every day. The food in the bar was excellent and very reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful, I would recommend the paladim to anyone going there. Only problem we found was that there could have a few more sun loungers there as the beach is a 15 min walk away and people tended to stay around the pool

"  Sleeping on a camp bed and the sofa... "

Sleeping on a camp bed and the sofa is not my idea of a 4 star hotel room. We had no oven to cook food, no dinner plates to eat off, there was no hairdryer and you could not operate the volume on the TV unless you paid for the remote control at the reception.
In a 2 person room - no bed, but there were 7 chairs and a sofa and 4 tables (what for?). The drawers and cupboards we thought were for clothes etc were full of cutlery, cups and saucers. Very disappointed with the room.
It is more than 10 mins to the strip or old town best thing is to get the train.portugal is lovelyplace hotel not very noisy as everyone as to get thier beds out at night.Facilites in hotel very very poor and dont bother complaing because theyv'e had your money!!!

" Me and my boyfriend went to the... "

Me and my boyfriend went to the Algarve in August and stayed here for a week.
It was very nice and extremely clean.

There was a nice mixture of people staying here..and a friendly atmosphere.
The hotel was only across the road from a really good supermarket..so could easily buy supplies if you needed..which in our case was noodles and oreos.

You could either walk to the lively strip at night which was a 10 minute walk..which had a great atmosphere .or you could walk the other way to the old town which had lots of nice restaurants to eat at...We thought Bank was a good one to go to..
Its a hard decision to make!

The weather was amazing..red hot everyday..gained a great tan which was much appreciated!

Also if you really miss your Mcdonalds..there is one a 5 minutes walk away..much cleaner & nicer than the English ones I must say!!

I would definately recommend this hotel..!!!

" Me,my partner and 2 friends stayed at... "

Me,my partner and 2 friends stayed at the paladim in sept 07 and loved it. We found it to be VERY clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was my girlfriends first holiday so she was anxious and didn't know what to expect but it was everything she could of wanted.

The location was perfect, next door is a big shopping center and food store which is ideal and it's not to far from the old town or the strip.
We prefered the old town to the strip, its very lively with loads of nice places to eat and the bars seemed much nicer there. At night they had street entertainment which my partner loved, loads of market stalls that she didnt stop spending her money on.

The zoo marine was excellent, had a blinding time that day, but got ripped off by the mad taxi driver on the way so next time will get the coach instead.

Really couldn't of wished for a better holiday. It was that good, were going back in july 08. Same location, same hotel, even asked fot the same apartment ha ha

Would recommend it to anyone!!!!

" My family visisted these apartments... "

My family visisted these apartments in july 2007 and they were so good we booked again to go back next year. the weather was brill and the location of the apartments was superb. the apartments were clean tidy and the staff were a great help. the pool was clean but make sure you get down early because people ignore the rule about placing towels on the sunbeds before 9am. the apartments are superb but try to make sure you get a pool view otherwise you may overlook a busy road. these aratments are great and if your thinking of booking you will not go wrong. also the rooms are cleaned daily with bedding changed every four days.

" The Paladim hotel is ideally situated... "

The Paladim hotel is ideally situated in the middle of Albufiera, right near the beach (well, 20mins walk) and slap bang in the middle area between the old town and the strip so we could explore both. It has a lovely fresh feeling as soon as you walk into the reception with a computer in the lobby with internet access and a hairdressers attached to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and there is a public bar in the basement of the hotel, also very fresh and nicely decorated. The staff here were lovely and by the end of the week we were all on a first names basis!! the have a huge range of drinks including lots of cocktails (which we just had to sample!!). everytime we went to the bar, a fresh bowl of nuts or crisps (complimentary of course!) were placed on our table. they also did food throughout the day which was also lovely, basic but good (fish and chips, steak, salads). There is also a games room attached to the bar with machines and a pool table. the outdoor pool is lovely and clean and there is plenty of room to sunbathe (we went in december though so pool was freezing!!).

(there is no restaurant so no chance of all inclusive)

The room had a nice fair sized bedroom which was clean, a little kitchen area which had all that you needed to cook in your room every night if you needed to. The room itself has air conditioning and a tv, both worked well and the room was also clean, fresh and bright. we did have problems with our bed (as it was a sofa that pulled out into a double) but staff were very helpful. we had a balcony (looking over the road, but was still nice with table and chairs).

I would definatly stay here again, it was very welcoming and we felt that we could spend a relaxed evening in if we wanted to or an evening out and feel safe and relaxed.

it is definatly good value for money ( if i remember rightly,(was a couple of years ago) it cost us £500 for a week with style holidays). But after research once we got back, we found we could have possibly gotten it considerably cheaper if we'd booked the hotel directly and the flights seperatly but definatly worth it.

There is a zoomarine a short bus ride away which was great, it has all sorts, lizards, seals, birds, dolphins. we actually decided when we got there that we would swim with them, which cost us 150 EUROS, although expensive it was well worth it and you get photos and a dvd of you experience with them. It is a full day out with a cafe/restaurant, water slides and childrens rides etc.

" Just come back from an excellent... "

Just come back from an excellent holiday at the Paladim.

Having never been to the Algarve, I was a bit worried but loved it! The people are friendly and chatty and nothing is too much trouble, if you have never been, then go.

The apartments are in between the old and new town, about 20 mins slow stroll to either.

We preferred the old town, lots of shops and bars, lots of choice of food! by night lots of stalls selling jewellery, leather stuff and beach stuff! The square is the place to start. We watched the England match and the atmosphere was fab!

The strip/new town is just like Blackpool, I didn’t like it. lots of bars, we went to Matt’s bar which was Ok but wouldn’t like it in the height of the season. OK for a night but not the place for a nice meal and a chat!

Back to the apartments, clean, comfortable and friendly. Get an apartment overlooking the pool, as the main road in front of the apartments is loud!

Maids are very nice and changed the towels everyday and cleaned also every day.

Pool is clean, need a few more sun beds!

Breakfast is cheap and my mom said she did the best eggs she has had!

Airport was dodgy! Quite small.

Please go to the Koala Gardens restaurant, the best meal we had!

Overall our holiday was great, thoroughly recommend the apartments, all English guest so no German towels, although we English are getting just as bad, there was nearly a flight over a towel when we was there!

Go and enjoy (Modelo nest door, the best supermarket ever!).
