We thought the apartments were...

Sep 2006, Mr P Ruddick

We thought the apartments were exceptionally big and spacious the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need including T towels which we have never had before. We found the air conditioning was great in both rooms.
We found that you had to get up really early to get a sun bed, they could do with getting more of these. The pool area was very clean and tidy and there were plenty of inflatables for the kids to play with. There was no pool activities so we found it got boring for the kids after the first week.
The location is very poor and was about a 15 min walk to the strip and about 20 - 30 min walk to the old town square.
We found that the strip was in two halves the bottom half was for the young and lively and the top half with Karaoke and entertainment bars that catered more for the kids. Taxi were on hand to take you anywhere for 4 euros.

Aug 2006, Mrs R McCarthy

We have just returned from a lovely weeks stay in the Paladim, Albufeira. The apartments are very clean, spacious and well equipped with maid service every day.
The pool area was very well maintained. Unfortunately, although there is a rule that no one can use the area until 9.00 am and that no towels are to be placed on beds not in use, very few people actually adhered to this request.
The toilets were at all times spotlessly clean with plenty of soap, paper and towels. The bar area could do with some more entertainment in the evening but served really good snacks and was very reasonable.
There is a supermarket right next door and also across the road. We preferred Old town to the Strip which was very noisy and full of young revellers. There are lots of good restaurants around the apartments and it is only a short walk into Old Town for many more.
We had a very enjoyable stay, totally stress free and would recommend this accommodation to our friends.

Our apartment was very spacious and clean. The apartment was cleaned and we were given new towels every day.
The staff, particularly the bar staff and the cleaners were very friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and there were plenty of sun loungers although you did have to get up early to get one. The hotel food was simple but good value. There was entertainment a couple of nights a week which was ok, basic.
The only complaint I had was nobody enforced the rules like walking through the hotel soaking wet and taking glass to the poolside. There was also no lifeguard. We had a great time and thought the accommodation was fine.

The apartment was spacious and clean. Our room was cleaned and towels were changed daily. The bar staff particularly friendly and helpful. It’s right next to the local supermarket, and in between the old town and new town.
We had a pool view, not so good if you had room facing the busy main road in front. Didn't affect level of noise at night though. We had Karaoke and rock 'n' roll and parrot shows on in the bar which were all on once a week.
The pool was clean and plenty of sun beds, although you had to get up early to get one. Not a lot to do in the area but in the hotel there was a computer with the internet and MSN and sky TV down stairs. (you have to pay to go on the computer)

Jul 2006, Mr Donnelly

I’m am disgraced to say I stayed in these apartments. They were very unclean and there was a strong smell of smoke everywhere. The pool was dirty and had children’s nappies in the pool, they also hadn’t got a life guard on.
The toilets were constantly dirty and they showed no sign of cleaning them.
Every night there was a large number of drunks wandered into complex in the early hours of the morning, and with children trying to sleep i was very upset. The staff weren’t very helpful and weren’t very friendly.

The apartment at the Paladim was...

May 2006, Mrs I M Denham

The apartment at the Paladim was spacious, clean and basic. The staff were helpful and friendly. Overall the amenities were good but some areas need looking at. For instance, I used the toilets next to the bar/cafe several times and most times there was no soap, no towels or drying facilities.
Invariably the smell of cigarette smoke was overwhelming (not to mention the cigarette burns everywhere). I had an upset tummy on my last day and had to use the Invalid toilet as an emergency. There was a toilet roll but no soap or drying facilities. This worried me as I saw staff using these toilets and I wondered about the close proximity to the cafe.
I had my 2 grandchildren staying with me and obviously I needed to bath them. Alas there was no plug! I asked for one at reception and they said they would treat it as urgent - still waiting!
It was very pleasant around the pool but unfortunately only one third of the sun beds had a cushion - so you had to get there early!

We Stayed in the Paladim whilst on...

Mar 2006, Mrs E Dunstan

We Stayed in the Paladim whilst on holiday. Apartments were really nice staff are friendly. We went out of season so lots of long stay old people!!
Room we had overlooked a very busy road and traffic noise all night. Old town was being dug up so not a lot to look at unfortunately but am sure when finished it will be very nice. The Strip is an experience!! Although out of season lots of places to eat recommend Country Cockerel Kitchen and Luigis very good food big portions.
The only major problem with this area is that no matter whether you are in the old town or strip there is a constant barrage of people trying to give you scratch cards then trying to get you into their offices to sell you timeshare!! They even drive around in cars and stop in the middle of the road to both you.
These people are very persistent and can be a bit overpowering. Although in one restaurant there was a sign on the wall saying these people were working illegally there did not seem to be anybody there to discourage them. They give tourism and the Algarve a bad reputation.
