HCC St. Moritz

I chose this hotel because of the location and proximity to some of the Gaudi sights (Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, and the Sagrada Familia are all within walking distance). The hotel is close to the Passeig de Gracia metro stop and within walking distance to the Placa de Catalunya and La Rambla areas. The hotel itself was okay, but not great. We stayed 3 nights and found the hotel room a very pleasant place to come back to after being out all day. The location is perfect and the room was big and comfortable. The hotel is a part of a chain so it lacks some character but still we regard this hotel as a real success that helped us have a great weekend in Barcelona.

We stayed here while waiting to meet a cruise. Location is excellent, the hotel being a nice quiet nook in the heart of the city; and the building is top notch. The staff were extremely helpful, and quite fluent in English. We ate well in the hotel restaurant, but we found the service quite confused... a disappointment at these prices. In all, a very comfortable hotel, but not a particularly good value.

A very comfortable,pleasant-looking hotel in central Barcelona near the Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya offering excellent rooms with clean,new furniture, congenial service. A good value!

We stayed 3 nights at the San Moritz before our cruise and were very satisfied. Its a very nice, clean, mid-range hotel for those who'll spend most of their time out enjoying Barcelona. The location is great; right off Playa de Gracia and close to shopping, good restaurants and tapas cafes. Our room was good sized as urban European hotels go, the travertine bath was very nice. Barcelona is a city with the wide avenues and beach close by, chaotic traffic and crowded streets are only to be expected. There is no shortage of restaurants and tapas bars, be prepared to eat late. There is more than enough to see on a 3 night stay especially the Sagrada Familia and Gaudi exhibition. Public transport is excellent but we would advise walking to get a feel for the city. Fantastic central location in Eixample. Very close to good shopping, eats/drinks! Right across from Thai Gardens, a delightful restaurant. Also across from a stout English Pub. Around the corner from many good Tapas establishments and night spots. Walk 3 short blocks south to Playa Catalunya and catch the double decker Blue/Red Tour Bus to see the city. Initially a bit disappointed, as our double bed was two single beds pushed together. Not the best for Valentine?s weekend. When we asked for a room with a double bed were told our booking through Expedia meant we had only requested a double bed. The staff spoke English but were not particularly friendly. One night they allowed us to buy a bottle of water from the reception, the next they said no. The hotel room was large with an exercise bike in it and the marble bathroom was spacious and clean. Possibly a four star hotel, reasonable during the off season, three blocks from Ramblas and three from two Gaudi masterpieces. Services excellent, clean spacious rooms with great hospitality. Has secure parking on the premises (not included).

The St. Moritz is a very good hotel and has an excellent central location. Out the door and you are in the midst of downtown Barcelona and you can walk everywhere It is very clean and the rooms are large. The price is also right. The only problem is that the air conditioning goes off at midnight.
