HCC Regente

This hotel proved to be ideal for our stay in Barcelona. The location is close enough to walk to many of the attractions and a much more pleasant location than the Ramblas. The street is tree-lined with some excellent restaurants and shops nearby that are far better and cheaper than those on Las Ramblas. Our room was large and air conditioned, with a great bathroom. The roof garden and pool was also perfect for a first drink of the evening with a view over the city. Well worth a visit and we would stay there again.

we had booked another hotel then read reviews on tripadvisor and promptly changed it to hotel regente location was good near fairly near to all attractions.room was very good very clean and serviced every day as it should be,buffet breakfast was very good had choice of many things. hotel staff were very friendly but not so helpful in recommending somewhere good to eat! only complaint only entrance to hotel was quite a lot of stairs not too handy when you have a buggy to get up them!and lifts were so tiny you could just get buggy in... more

Perfect location on the Rambla de Catalunya in the Eixample area. It's a beautiful Modernista building and the rooms are very nice, clean and well equipped with a reasonably sized ensuite, aircon and an exercise bicycle in every room! Our friends had a room at the front with french windows overlooking the Rambla de Catalunya. We had a room at the back on the penultimate floor with a huge astroturfed balcony overlooking the buildings of the Paseo de Gracia. Quite a few steps to climb to get to the lobby, no easy feat when traveling with a baby in a stroller. Our room was ample size but with a view of a brick wall. It is also very near good shopping and many Gaudi buildings. Because it was so hot it was nice to have the small pool and terrace on the roof. We used it to cool off and to see the great views of the city. Breakfast was good (eggs to order), although you had to pay about 8.50 euro for it. We were upgraded to this hotel by the tourist information office in Barcelona. Although a 20 min walk or so down to La Ramblas, the area around the hotel is far more spacious, less noisy and less crowded. The hotel service was excellent. Room perfect, and maid service second to none. The staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. The roof top terrace and pool is excellent for simply relaxing, above it all. The Regente is in a brilliant loaction, right in amongst the great local Tapas bars and upmarket shopping boutiques. Walking distance from the Metro or the top of the Ramblas.Those who critise the rooms - this is Spain, not Las Vegas. There is a great city out there - hello?A great hotel in a great location in a great city.

I stayed at the Hotel Regente from 02/23/04 to 02/28/04 and I have to say I was very pleased with the service. The room was very nice and spacious and well-equipped: with a/c (even though I didn't use it), heating system (radiator attached to the wall), old-fashioned hair dryer (it looked like a vacuum cleaner), closet, safe, and other features you'll find at a four-star hotel. I agree - this is not a four star hotel. It hax a wonderful location naer most of Barcelona's major Antonio Gaudi buildings. We had read about the small rooms so we called and made sure we were not put in the back of the hotel. Our room was moderately sized but not large. One day the room wasn't made up until after 3 in the afternoon. While we were there the Scientologists were using a meeting room in the hotel to promote their program. Great location....BUT this is not a 4 star hotel! Rooms are very small and only 3 of the rooms in the hotel seem to have queen sized beds. Rugs in hallways ripped up during our stay without warning. Mediocre service. You might get stuck with a room with a view of a wall. Lots of nicer, newer 4 star hotels in the area. Definately shop around.

We stayed in the hotel Regente for a long weekend in May. We payed over £100 per night for the room and were expecting a certain standard. However the room we were given was only slightly bigger than the bed (which was small). It was really dark and the small window (in contrast to the one used in their advertising) looked out onto a wall which was almost close enough to touch, and was so tall you couldn't see the lovely blue sky outside! I asked to change rooms and we were given one slightly bigger and marginly less dark but still... more
