Palais Salam Hotel
The accommodation, scattered throughout the gardens, is highly individual and characteristically Moroccan. A lovely hotel which gives a warm welcome and a magical setting. Please note that the hotel layout means that it is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

A stunning, elegant hotel. All the staff are proffessional and polite.
As Taroudant is inland from Agadir you get a real feel of the real Morocco, the Atlas Mountains are a short journey away and the town itself is a real treat to jusy walk arround.
We didn't get as much hassel from the locals as we were expecting and the majority of the local shops outside the souk sell the same produce at a lower rate without the hassel of haggling if you don't want to.
I didn't feel as though I was being watched all the time as a female, but saying that, due to the "elegant" nature if the resort nobody walked around in short and t-shirt anyway, if you want that stay in Agadir.
Back to the hotel, the rooms were cleaned every day, sheets and towels changed everyday, paths and gardens were washed and swept everyday.
Breakfast was a buffet style, pastries tea, coffee juice etc.... If you wanted anything else all you did was ask and was presented minutes later.
The evening meal was either buffet or menu depending on the guest levels again if it wasn't there the would bring it out. I am vegetarian and had no broblem.
The pools were cold ( it was Feb) but clean. the hotel itself has 2 blocks but due to the arrangment of rooms it seems very intimate, rooms are arranged around small courtyards, gardens or fountains.
There are2 guides conected to the hotel Mustaffa who takes you around the mountains and villages. And Adiz who talks you around the town both reasonably priced they also have a pet kitten called Mia!! Both are worth making contacting with they know there stuff!
A couple of bits of advice, first you are on your own, there is no rep in Taroudant so if you think that you will a rep to organise you, don't go. And second although children were present there, the hotel does not accomodate badly behaved families ( or probably anyone who behaves in an inappropriate fashion) one family was asked to leave as they didn't controll their children.
All in all the is a fantastic relaxing holiday, in a lovely hotel. I f you want a taste of real Morocco then visit, if you want to sit on a beach and visit water parks don't.

We stayed here at the end of a self-drive tour of the Sahara Edge Oasis and it was magical.
The banana court rooms are wonderful and we have come on this site because we are looking to book our return visit. Thoroughly recommend.
The memories are so good its photo has been my screen saver for the past 2 years.

We were initially apprehensive about this hotel as it's an hour inland and Taroudant is a small town. However, our concerns were unfounded.
The town itself is stunning, easy to explore and friendly. Scenery is amazing, as the town's on a plain between the Atlas and Anti-Atlas.
The hotel itself is far more beautiful than the pictures show - complete with two swimming pools and loads of sun loungers either out on decks or under the banana trees!
The old part of the hotel, previously the Pasha's palace is built around stunning tropical gardens with lovely rooms off them - definitely choose these cheaper rooms over the more expensive, new rooms with air conditioning.
Ours hardly worked and the rooms were much hotter than these old rooms, which with their thick walls and high ceilings were cool and quiet.
The food was great, very Moroccan, and so a little short on the fresh salad we like, but well-cooked and lots of choice. All hotel staff were, without exception, charming and helpful.
There are very few English guests, and although most staff spoke some English, a working knowledge of French, or a willingness to have a go is needed!
We highly recommend the Mustafa, the guide the hotel will suggest you chat to... He organised some wonderful trips to the mountains for us, and guided us around the souk (yes, we bought a rug!)
We're planning a return trip - don't miss out on this amazing hotel!
