Jul 2008, Mr A Atcha

I went with a group of friends for two weeks and all i have to say is that it is the best holiday i have ever been too. There were many Moraccan families on thier hoildays aswell and we made many many good friends. If you come here as a group you have got to meet with the locals. We all went out together, played watersports, went to the beach and i tell you something it is amazing. Families may not like it here as there is no entertainment at evening times but groups of youths will thoroughly enjoy themselves. We are all surely going back next year!!!

Jul 2008, Other E Christie

We arrived and after a few discussions were given a two bed apartment which we had booked, they had wanted to give us a one bedroom apartment.
The complex is run down and not what we expected. The shower did not work and the ring on the cooker did not work it was very difficult to self cater. There is no pool bar or entertainment and no televisions. The apartment is very basic. We did not stay on the complex during the day but travelled around to near by beaches and we did not use the Agadir beach as we had been advised that another traveller had caught an ear infection whilst swimming. The other beaches away from Agadir centre were beautiful. Don't expect luxury and don't expect to do anything on the apartment complex. We were disappointed but still managed to enjoy the holiday in other ways. We booked some very good trips to Marrakesh, Jeep Safari and sailing.
It is shame that the complex has been left to deterioate and we decided that this might be because it is a long way from the beach and does not have the amenities provided by the other newer complexes in Agadir.
There is nothing for a 17 year old to do on the complex and we had a grumpy teenager for a few days.

Mar 2008, Mrs I Wilkins

We arrived at the apartments quite late and when we saw our apartment my heart sank. It was right next to the pool and the toilets. We could not open the shutters to any of the rooms as they overlooked the pool and everyone could look in. Having to get up during the night the first thing I spotted was a cockroach. The next day we asked if we could change rooms and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and we were able to choose the one we wanted. Fantastic views, spacious and very clean. The maid came very day and was always cheerful. Agadir itself is a typical beach holiday and not much to do otherwise. Hired a car for 3 days and was then able to see the real Morocco. Two days before we left the apartment there was a party of 95 students who were all situated around us. The noise on the first night was unbearble and went on until 4.00 a.m. I complained to the reception and they didn't seem too bothered but said they would speak to the professor. I spoke to him myself and he assured me that it would not happen again. The next night the noise, shouting, music and drinking continued until 6.00 a.m. and then my partner had to go down to one of the rooms and ask them to be quiet. We once again complained to reception but they were not prepared to do anything as I think that 95 students = money. We also went to speak to the professor again and he just shrugged his shoulders.
This rather spoilt the holiday for us and more so as no one seemed to want to help - teachers, reception or security staff. They appeared to think that this was acceptable behaviour. I would strongly recommend that you enquire before booking as to whether there will be students there as this seems to happen a few times a year.

Our holiday to Igoudar apartments has...

Aug 2007, Mrs N Hayter

Our holiday to Igoudar apartments has been excellent. I had to travel with a broken foot and the staff at the apartments could not have been more helpful.
The cooking facilities are very basic but with so many close good restaurants eating is not a problem. There is good entertainment throughout the day and evening for all ages, during the day it is around the pool.
My 2 15 year old daughters were not board for a whole 2 weeks.
The apartment was clean and had a daily maid service. It is best to go to one of the larger supermarkets to buy main food, as the local one next to the apartments makes the prices up as they go along.
I would recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to experience the proper Morocco, if all you want is sun and food on tap then this is not the place to go. We were so happy that we are going back next year.

Igoudar apartments were lovely, the rooms were fresh, very clean and spacious and the bathroom was great.
The things I wish I had known before I went on holiday in Agadir were how easy it is to get sucked into a situation where you are forced to part with cash.
I don't even mind buying things - souvenirs, essential food etc, but on a couple of occasions we were vastly overcharged (£35 for a bag of six breakfast items on the night we arrived, £50 for a bag of spices from a spice shop near the front) from people who turned quite nasty when we tried to question it.
This is the only aspect which marred a great holiday.
Agadir beach is lovely, and Le Nil Bleu is a fab restaurant, find Uniprix for your shopping esp food items.
I will certainly return to Morocco. We travelled to Marrakech independently by bus and stayed there for two nights it is an incredible city teaming with life and atmosphere.
I would highly recommend Agadir and Morocco, just be aware of the pitfalls.

What can I say? Overall extremely disappointing. Two weeks is much too long here.
They offered many tourist trips but the only one that was satisfactory was horse riding.
One positive thing I can say was the cleaners were there every morning.
The food in the restaurant had me unwell for the end of the first week and late into the second week. Not a place for kids at all.
Also very far from the nearest town. Many of the staff were very ignorant.
I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Please please please don't go here.....I read the bad reviews and thought "who cares...load of rubbish" but they are true! The hotel is ridiculously basic...the live wires hanging out of the ceiling were just dangerous and there are wooden boards for curtains.
I returned from this hotel with a terrible phobia of cats because of the amount of strays hanging around my windows. The 'entertainment' is rubbish- one grumpy guy calling numbers for bingo once a week is it. Reconsider going here now!

Mar 2007, Mrs A M Russel

We read some quite mixed reviews about the Igoudar Apartments and they are only 2*, so we weren't really sure what to expect but we were very pleasantly surprised.
The whole place was beautiful. Our apartment had a lovely bedroom, spacious living area and adequate kitchen and bathroom space.
Although it would be quite difficult to cook for a whole family on the hot plates provided, it was fine for the two of us and there are plenty of places to eat out within a couple of minutes walk.
We didn't really spend any time at the pool or the bar but both looked lovely and clean and seemed to be popular with everyone else, as some people didn't seem to move from poolside all week!
The location of the apartment is perfect. It only took about 5 minutes to walk to the beach and there were plenty of shops on the doorstep and a few stalls set up inside the apartments which was nice.
There is a little supermarket just outside but we were advised not to shop there as it was quite expensive and none of the items were priced so I think they just made it up as they went along.
There is a supermarket which takes just over half an hour to walk to as it is outside town but there are often taxis waiting outside the hotel and they are really cheap.
The reception staff were really helpful and friendly and there were facilities there to change traveller’s cheques or foreign currency, there was also a cash machine outside.
We had an amazing time in Morocco and would recommend it to anyone.
We met lots of people who back there every year and hopefully we'll get the chance one day!

Nov 2006, Miss C Wood

We visited Agadir for one week at the beginning of April, as we stepped off the plane in the evening there was a warm breeze and a magical sunset. As we left the airport a local took our bags to our coach, we weren't sure at first due to the western suspiciousness but they were honest and expected a fair bit of cash (Moroccan or English) in return!!
On arrival at the Igoudar apartments the staff were helpful though their English was limited (the best English speaker only worked days), we were told where our room was and left to find it ourselves, which was fun.
I had to lug a big case up the steps, once we discovered where our room was, although it was signposted for the rooms it was still quite difficult to locate. The apartment itself was clean and basic, a kettle, 2 hotplates and some pots and pans sufficed for the kitchen. The bathroom was a decent size and the living area was functional with a kind of eastern feel to it.
We didn't really use the pool it was always busy and full of young children. Also, at reception, you can leave a refundable deposit for the keys to the safe in your room, it was approx£15 for the week and well worth at the lock on the door was what I'd say was far from secure.
The beach itself was gorgeous and very clean, the water was beautiful, and definitely how you'd imagine it. On the 10min walk to the beach there are shops dotted around, mostly fixed price but the occasional one or two you could haggle at, if the mood took you.
Saying that the best place to haggle is at the Souk, it’s an amazing place with lots of traditional stalls, although be wary of people approaching you as we got invited to a few stalls and once there were expected to buy something.
Agadir is an up and coming tourist location and the locals have picked up a few sayings e.g. "cheap as chips" and "feesh and cheeps" and the best one we heard was "garlic bread?" had us in stitches!!
We took a trip to the anti-atlas (opposite the Atlas Mountains) and on to Tiznit where they make silver. I definitely recommend both but not the anti-atlas if you have young children due to the length of time you're on the coach.
There are a few other things to do in Agadir, the mini-train that drives around Agadir will give you a good insight as to what’s on offer for culture and things to do in the daytime.
There are a few clubs for the party animals at night and there’s loads of restaurants along the beach front and a couple around the corner from the Igoudar Apartments, recommend Foukets (yes that’s the real spelling) brilliant food and an excellent atmosphere. The beach front restaurants are ideal for lunch on the beach.
All in all we had an excellent holiday and are planning to go back for our honeymoon and for a bit longer this time around.

Sep 2006, Mrs TA Fallon-Topham

The hotel is extremely basic; if you are hoping to cook it is not easy to do with two extremely slow, electric plates. Very few cooking utensils. The initial room we were given was through a maze of alleys to the top room of a three storey clay building.
The room appeared clean upon entry, however when I looked around, both the sink in the bathroom and kitchen were crawling with ants. I then proceeded to check the beds, pulling all blankets and sheets back to find all beds were covered in ants. When I complained the male receptionist looked at me as though I was a Martian!
The next room was slightly cleaner, although not much. I bought cleaning products and some cutlery so we could eat. We found out from an English couple (who were chefs, and also suffered with the stomach lurgy), that you are supposed to be given a kettle, this was just before we were ready to depart.
The resort of Agadir is okay if you want a beach/pool bum holiday as there is very little there!! If you want to explore, visit other towns forget it. We went on two excursions; one to Marrakech, although it is very similar, putrid smells, flies everywhere, even on the food, people mithering you to purchase something.
We vacated for two weeks, and I had a stomach bug twice, which lasts around two to three days per time. Costs are just slightly cheaper than England for meals, although alcohol is dearer; this is probably due to it being a Muslim country. If hygiene is not a major factor in your checklist, then this will be okay for you.

Jun 2006, Thompson

We thoroughly enjoyed Morocco. A little sceptical beforehand (don't know why) but any fears were soon put to bed. Morocco is a poor country but has a rich heart and warm and friendly people. The facilities are excellent. Food is a good standard. We dined at local restaurants every evening at very reasonable prices. The people are absolutely lovely (genuinely so). The beach at Agadir is very clean although the Atlantic can be a little rough some days but there was always a warm breeze to cool the high temperatures.
Our Igoudar Apartments were spotless. The staff could not do enough for you although we did feel that the place needed repainting in places. Having said that the last day we were there they had started painting (we had not said anything, honest!). The only criticism we would make would be the pestering when trying to just window shop or at the Souk. As soon as you put your face near any of their goods it seems like a plague of locusts descends on you. Be polite with a firm "No" and that usually suffices, but not always so be warned.
Morocco is magical, different, laid back and has a charm we have not experienced before being quite widely travelled. We would recommend it - we do not think you will be disappointed.
