In total there were six 18 year old lads and we Went for two weeks. After reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting much but, honestly, who writes these reviews because this was amazing! The hotel was set aback from the strip, and you have to walk up a poorly lit road from the strip to get to the hotel. Whilst we were there, a moped drove past this girl and snatched her handbag. As a lad, I walked up there on my own a few times and never had a problem but I'd suggest definitely walking up there in a group. I'll start with the hotel; Olympion Village is easily the best hotel in Kavos. When we were there, several acts stayed at the hotel: Benga & Young Man; Wretch 32; and Dirty Sanchez. They do have a few rules: no bringing guests back; no noise after 1am; pool closes at 7pm; you have to hand your room key into reception before leaving the hotel; you can't eat or drink anything around the pool not bought from the restaurant bar due to 'tax reasons'. This sounds bad, but really it didn't affect us. You can ask the security guard to let you into your room if one of your mates came back early, and if you go to the strip before 1am it's dead anyway, so you're out of the hotel at 1am and then when you get back you just want to sleep at like 0530 am anyway. Air Con was extra per week and safe was extra for the duration of our stay. I can't remember how much - sorry - but I'm sure it's on other reviews.
During the day, the maids will come into your room and tidy round you whilst you sleep. If you want, you can get up and they'll change the beds but they don't force it on you (like some reviews said they do). A tip as well, keep your balcony chairs inside your hotel room because otherwise people from neighbouring apartments will take them, and then you'll get fined €20 per chair that is missing / broke (all chairs have room numbers on the bottom of them). We found this out the hard way, but our rep managed to get it down to just €20 as we admitted breaking one of them. The beds were comfy enough. The shower area was pretty small but that's irrelevant for lads; girls may get a bit annoyed at it.
The restaurant food was really nice, and the cheapest you'll encounter compared to any restaurant on the strip (plus Karen, the waitress, was really friendly!), but if you're going down the strip to eat out you should try Drunken Squid at least one (most expensive, but really big portions. The quality of food is only slightly better than anywhere else). Don't just walk into a restaurant either; you should mill around outside until one of the PRs approaches you and offers you 15% off or something. Albeit the Drunken Squid is the only place that doesn't give you offers. If there was anywhere that I'd say to avoid, then it would be Sizzlers, but only because of the appalling customer service that the waitress offers; she was horrible.
There's a mini market on site, which has good prices; no different to the markets down on the strip. The shops on the strip do have more variety for alcohol though.
The only excursion that we did during the day was Scuba Diving with the Kavos Diving Centre. It was €44 per dive and I've dived in both Barbados and Spain and of course this wasn't as good but hey, if you haven't done it before it's a great experience :) Everyone we met at the hotel said how great the Booze Cruise was, but we could never be bothered to get round to arranging it :( We also went Go Karting, which was €15 for half an hour. It was a good laugh. Just go to a shop that advertises it, tell them you want it and they'll ring the place who will send a car to you. It's a 2 minute drive and 20 minute walk if you wanted to walk.
When you go down to the strip at night, there is a bar on the left hand side called JC's Bar (assuming you're staying at Olympion Village) and you have to try the 'Haribo Head******'! €6 a pint (average price in all the bars) and you get Haribo sweets in it! It tastes really nice, so nice you can get through three or four in half an hour without meaning to, and they get you pretty drunk. There's a fair few speceiality cocktails that JC's do, all of which taste great, and DJ Mad****** is an awesome guy! We started our night off here most nights and they gave us so many free shots for being regulars. People mention how the PRs are annoying trying to get you in their places, and to an extent I can see why they can be, but if you can just banter and have a laugh with them then it just becomes part of a great night out! Towards the end, a PR would walk up to us and before he could say anything we'd tell him the offer he was about to give us! It was a laugh, though some of the offers are pretty good. The free bars are alright, but you're limited to only a certain type of drinks. A place called Rocky's did three bowls, two shots and a fish bowl for €5 each. Buzz Bar is a really good bar to go to because of the music and flashing lights etc. There is a club called Venue that is only open twice a week, but has acts on each time, and it's €20 a ticket for a free bar all night. It's a really disgusting club (I'm sure you have one in your area) where the floor is horrible and the toilets are etc. but we've all been in one, and you just accept it. A free bar sounds good, but whatever you ask for they don't pay any attention and will give you a vodka and sprite or vodka and orange (the ratios are 50:50... the drinks are disgusting). If you're going to Venue, you should probably get obliterated before you get in there!
Negatives about the strip would be that Kavos has a law whereby music has to go off at 0130 am. This doesn't happen, unless the police drive past, and then they'll shut the music off and turn it back on when the police go. It was random how many times it would happen in a night. One night though, there'd been a fight and so the police car parked in the middle of the strip and all the bars had to turn their music off, so that night finished pretty early. Another negative is the gypsies. The women will try to sell you roses and other useless items, and the children will just be walking around, some will do breakdancing (to their credit, they were awesome at it), but this is to distract you whilst they try and pickpocket you. If you go skinny dipping on the beach, expect to come back to all of your clothes being stolen as some gypsies are stationed on the beach waiting for you to do this!
The beach is not really very nice. It's sandy, which is something, but where the sand meets the ocean it's just seaweed. There is a place called the 'Secret Beach' (which is where we went Scuba Diving) and this is really nice and quite secluded. It was about a half hour drive but if you get a taxi it may be something you want to do for one day if staying in the hotel all day is getting tedious.
That's about everything. To summarise, Kavos was my first lads holiday and it's one I won't forget. It was an absolutely amazing experience that was added to by the quality of the hotel. If you're going to Kavos, stay at Olympion Village.

Went in June with 3 other friends. Couldn't believe how beautiful the surroundings of the hotel were when we arrived, and the price was fantastic. Bar staff are very friendly and are up for a laugh, with a bar that runs pretty much as long as you want it to. Brilliant cocktail selection. Food from the restaurant was fantastic and quite cheap. Rooms very clean and cleaned every day with new sheets and towels. 3 minute walk from the beach and the main strip with fantastic bars, nightclubs and restaurants. (Try the Tex Mex restaurant next to ezee bar its amazing! And rolling stone bar was our favorite.)
Beach wasn't great but we just stayed by the large pool most of the time.- Don't jump in pool after 7pm- €150 fine.
Reps friendly and helpful.
If you're looking for a mental clubbing holiday with your mates come here. We saw a lot of other hotels in Kavos and this one is DEFINITELY BY FAR THE BEST. Families- STAY AWAY its not for kids.

I booked this holiday before I read the reviews about Kavos – if I had known I wouldn’t have gone!
Firstly the accommodation...
Well, as most people say the staff are very friendly and helpful. We found that although it is advertised as a family accommodation there isn’t much that is really aimed at families; indeed my two children (11 & 13) spent a lot of time complaining they were bored! When we were there most guests were groups of 18-20ish but there were a few families. Most of the families I spoke to admitted that they had also booked without doing any research and they too wouldn’t have come if they had known about Kavos! However, there is a strict policy about noise, anti-social behaviour etc. and whilst we were there was no trouble or noise (although I did hear one family complain about being kept awake by noisy neighbours).
We had a two bedroom apartment which consisted of a corridor with the bedrooms and bathroom leading off; there was no lounge area as such and the ‘dining area’ was a table and chairs in the corridor. The ‘cooking’ area was a sink, two electric rings and a toaster and fridge at the end of the corridor – I wouldn’t recommend trying to do any cooking as the equipment was VERY basic. If you want to sit down you use the beds or plastic furniture on the balcony. Each bedroom did have a telly though and air-con for which you pay extra (it cost us 190 Euros for both bedrooms for two weeks). The bedrooms are quite spacious but we found that the actual furniture was rather ‘seedy’ – cheap chipboard furniture manufactured for light domestic use in a situation which is really industrial use so the shelves were broken, the doors to the wardrobe kept coming out of their tracking and jamming etc. one of the wall lights had been ‘repaired’ using blue tack or similar. I could go on listing these fairly minor things but the fact that they had not been put right makes the indifference between really good accommodation and something that is just average.
On arrival the rooms were superficially clean but when I looked I could see sticky rings on the surfaces that had not been cleaned and the crockery was dirty and stained from the previous occupants. We also had an ant infestation but I did check with other people and not everyone had this problem so I guess we were unlucky. During our stay the rooms were cleaned every day to a reasonable standard except if you are in the room they won’t clean it – the bins are emptied but that’s it!
Having a shower was a bit of a lottery – the water pressure often fell so that we got a trickle or nothing at all and then it suddenly rises and you get hammered into the shower tray! As for the water temperature I often couldn’t tell the difference between the hot and cold water taps – at most the water is warm – you never get a hot shower but then again who wants one with the outside temperature in the high 30s?
The public areas and pool were kept very clean and tidy – no complaints about this. The restaurant serves reasonable meals (huge portions!) at a good price - I do recommend the cooked breakfast!! The mini-market is a bit of a rip-off but this seems to be the norm these days – items are cheaper in Kavos if you want to walk into town (about 2-3 minutes walk downhill.
Mosquitoes were a big problem – I had over 40 bites at one time but other people didn’t get bitten once. There were also a lot of wasps when we were there but the staff zapped them with an electric ‘tennis racket’ thingy!
Lots of sunbeds around the pool and no need to go and put your towel on them at dawn as there were always enough to go around; I didn’t like the charge of 4.20 Euros for an umbrella and 4.20 Euros for each mattress though.
Kavos itself... what can I say that hasn’t been said? Very quiet (almost dead) by day and VERY lively by night – definitely NOT for families in my opinion. ? Nearly every establishment is a bar or club selling cheap booze (e.g. pints of spirits). Kavos is exactly what it says on the label; I’m not complaining but it’s not my idea of a holiday resort and as I said, if I’d have checked first I would not have gone there. As others have said the beach near the Olympion Village is dirty and not really suitable for anything other than sleeping off the hangover amongst the detritus of the last night’s booze!
Overall I find Olympion Village to be a bit of a paradox – ‘family friendly’ accommodation in a resort that is not for families and I would have thought that those coming to Kavos for the nightlife wouldn’t want to stay in accommodation that is ostensibly aimed at families. I found it to be OK but I won’t be going back.

We took our holiday under the advice of our travel agent, saying it was a nice family resort and apartments with plenty of things for our family(2 adults- 2children)to do, which in my opinion was a complete pack of lies!
the apartment in its self was very nice, and the staff were very nice people. This is a resort for young people wanting to rave/party.the beach was filthy full of empty bottles, used condoms & a genral mess. I would recomend this complex if you wish to be kept awake until 7am and would like to see naked people running around and jumping in the pool. The smell around kavos main strip is very bad, it could with a cleaner to get rid of the urine and sick! this is definitely not the place for families with young children!

Before going we looked at lots of reviews for Kavos and read very mixed, to the point where before going we were doubting whether it was going to be a good holiday. We needn't of worried though!
Kavos as an area is lovely, the strip in the day is busy with restaraunts and shops and lots of people, and at night is jam packed with pubs, clubs and bars, all different types of music with people having a great time. One of the highlights is Buzz, an amazing bar. The drinks were surprisingly cheap, with the PR's giving you good deals on cocktails etc. Worth trying a fishbowl, and definitely worth trying a gas chamber, not as scary as it sounds! Like most clubbing islands, the drinks are probably watered down but you couldn't tell at all, they were so strong and got us drunk! Everyone there was so so friendly and we made lots of friends.
Olympion Village as a resort is considered the best in Kavos, and easily is. It is set off the strip, about a 2 minute walk, although the alley way connecting the two is quite dangerous. People have been mugged and chased walking up there by themselves, not surprising as the richest people in Kavos would tend to be staying there, but as long as you stay in groups you'll have no trouble. The pool is gorgeous, clean and clear, and the sunloungers (free) are available all day, so there's no rush in the morning. Pool gets busy around lunch time but not uncomfortably.
The restaraunt by the pool is amazing value for money, and delicious food, we ate there nearly every day. With a 3 course meal for 6.60 euros, and a massive fry up (Brits Brekkie!) for 2 euros, it saves you a lot of money and walking. Billy's cocktail bar is also a must, well priced and strong! Billy himself is lovely, as is Alex the receptionist, and you normally end up getting on well with them. Rooms were spacious and clean, although the shower was a bit tempermental, with it not fitting in the holder at the top and the water pressure being inconsistent at busy times. Not a big enough flaw to ruin the hotel though.
We read lots of reviews about how much Kavos smells, and at some times it does, but normally only really late at night/early in the morning or as you're going out at night, it's not that strong at all and most of the time barely noticeable, we never noticed it once at the hotel. Kavos beach is pretty poor, with it being aobut 6 feet wide and looking quite dirty, which makes Olympion's pool all the nicer!
Would definitely reccommend the Twenty's Booze Cruise, 50 euros but an absolutely amazing day, with watersports, bbq, swimming in the sea and a rave in a cave to finish off! Would definitely reccommend the organised bar crawls, gets you very very drunk, and is a good way to get to know people and the strip itself.
Overall, don't listen to any negative reviews of Kavos! Also, don't listen to people who call it Chavos (for its apparent popularity with chavs), we didn't see that many more than you would any where else! Plenty of lovely people. We worried beforehand, but especially at Olympion Village we had nothing to worry about, it was a gorgeous place, and we would definitely visit Kavos again! Your holiday is what you make it and it will be amazing!

We visited the town of Kavos as a large group of 18-21's and stayed at the Olympian Village hotel.
My first impressions of the town itself were that it is a boozy predominantly chavvy/ yobby party town- which is a shame given its beautiful location. Definantly not a place for families or a relaxing break, Kavos I thought was quite frankly grim. On the face of it people are friendly and Reps hound you with amazingly cheap food and drink deals, however the beach was covered in condoms and other waste, with sewage pipes running into the sea.
However much to my suprise our hotel 'The Olympian Village' was fanstastic! Clean, friendly and good value for money I enjoyed our my time at the resort. The rooms were well kept and decorated to a good spec, and since we had booked directly through the hotel our air conditioning was included in our £140 price for seven nights. I honestly felt under charged! The staff were friendly, relaxed and eager to help, Billy the barman was a favourite :) There's a nice bar and restaurant as well as small supermarket selling basic foods, toiletries and souvenirs.
Definaately a young party town, but if you must go to Kavos stay at the Olympian Vilage!

I went as a group of 12 girls and 3 boys, all 18 and was VERY pleasantly surprised on arrival. The rooms are spacious, pretty nice for the price and come with a balcony which is useful for smokers. The only issue was the shower which was quite small with no shower curtain in a couple of rooms so made the whole bathroom (which was fairly small) wet - but it wasn't really a problem as we just used the showers by the pool instead. Small price to pay considering it really is worth it in every other way.
Olympian Village is BY FAR the best play to stay in Kavos. Value for money and the only nice, clean, quiet place according to many people we spoke to.
Whereas the majority of hotels are on the main clubbing strip, these appartments are on a side street just of the main strip but not inconveniently so. The extra 2 minute walk is well worth a decent quiet nights sleep. We had another 3 groups of male friends with lower expectations staying on the strip who complained that it was so noisy until 6am that if you did decide to return early from your night out, there was no chance of sleeping through the vibrating racket - plus it was just annoying! Same comments from the many people we spoke to out there and they all paid a similar price to us. I didn't hear any good reviews about hotels appart from some people we bumped into from Olympian!!
We often snuggled our friends into Olympian Village to use our pool as again it is by far the cleanest and nicest pool in town and they were VERY impressed by what we had managed to land ourselves. They basically ditched their hotels for ours and slept by our pool during the day - only went back for a change of clothes!
I never actually went to the beach in the day but did hear that it was NASTY and when I did end up on it on a few of the nights (the clubs back onto the beach)...there is a bit of a sewer smell in some parts, so you'll need a decent pool like this to relax during the day!!
I can't remember how often the place was cleaned but I think that's because it wasn't a problem - it was cleaned often enough for us not to care!
Yes you have to pay the extra money for air con and safety deposit but when you split the price between a few of you, it isn't so painful. They are VERY necessary and you will have to pay this extra charge anywhere.
This place is NOT for families. There was as far as I could tell, one family staying there and the rest were all 18-30's having a good time. It is literally a long strip of clubs, bars and restaurants along the beach accompanied by very drunken, mainly British people, having a wild party! The nightlife starts at 12am and goes on until around 6am so there is no point leaving the hotel for the nightlife before then.
Food in the hotel was a little overpriced but there is a mini supermarket right next door where you can buy food to cook etc.
I saw 4-5 other hotels whilst there and I WOULD NOT go to Kavos and stay anywhere else - best location, cleanliess, style and service.

i have just returned from a fortnight at these apartments with my boyfriend and we had a lovely time, will definitely be booking up to go back at some point! staff are lovely, pool is great and rooms are very clean, food at the apartments is lovely and portions are huge. the 5 minute walk away from the strip is great as you are set back a bit from the busy nightlife and the noise, and it also means you only have to walk 5 minutes to find more restaurants and bars. we loved desperados and the drunken squid which are priced at only a little more than some of the cheaper places but the food and portion sizes are great! we also loved scorers sports bar for a relaxed night out and a few games of football shown on the big screens. the PRs can get a little annoying but if you are polite to them and let them say their piece, they will begin to recognise you and leave you alone. there isn't too much for kids to do at the apartments so i wouldn't advise families to bring children, but for us there was pool tables for €1 a game and computers etc. the umbrella charge is only €1.20 per day which is ideal as the weather was often too hot to lie out in the sun all day. we also didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn for a lounger as there was always plenty available, and even when the pool area was at its busiest it wasn't uncomfortable. rooms were cleaned every day and if you were in the room, the maids would still empty the bins and not disturb you. we found the extra charge for €30 for the safe for the fortnight was reasonable as it meant you could lock your valuables away safely whilst you weren't in the room, and we also didn't pay the €98 charge for the fortnight for the air conditioning as we found a shop on the strip selling fans at €21.50 which was much better for the room, also meaning we could face it to the bed at night when it was too hot to sleep! only one complaint about the room was there was only 2 sockets in the living room/bedroom area, one of which the television was plugged into. the television was also great as most of the channels were english, which is unusual for a television abroad. the main strip of kavos isn't the cleanest but you do not have to spend time down there if you don't want to, the apartments have everything you need without venturing out. we weren't disturbed by noise, and our apartment was very close to the cocktail bar which didn't shut until 5am but this still wasn't a problem. only thing to beware are the mosquitos as we didnt prepare for this and we were covered in bites! We didn't go on any excursions or hire a quad out as we wanted a relaxing pool holiday but these were easy enough to find along the strip if you needed. we would definitely recommend this holiday to people aged 18-35 without children, as the majority of people here at the same time as us were young and there isn't anything to keep children amused. although kavos is classed as a 'party town', we didn't find this a bad thing as we were home most nights before 1am and at this time the strip still isn't at its busiest. because the apartments are a walk away from the strip you can choose which type of holiday you are after. we would love to come back at some point as we had an amazing holiday and we would only return to these apartments.
