I was very anxious when first booking here as I had heard some reviews which were not flattering about the rooms and the hotel itself.
I went there with my girlfriend for three nights and thought the whole hotel was exemplary. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the views from the roof terrace were fantastic and the breakfasts were great value for money.
The room was small yes but it was clean and nicely furnished with a huge bathroom, we also had great views over the city. Even if you don’t like the hotel it’s worth it for the views and the location. You really are right in the heart of this colourful and vibrant city. I would stay again!

The location is just fantastic. You can walk about 5 min and be in the Ramblas (overrated I thought) but the Gothic quarter where the hotel is based is full of character and interesting narrow sidewalks. Wonderful during the day but a bit spooky at night as the little corridor of shops provide a maze like experience. We got totally lost but found our way using the cathedral as a compass and people were very friendly.
Right by the cathedral turn right and there is a wonderful, cheap Italian restaurant with candles illuminating the tables at night. We didn’t realise the marina was so near too, we got a taxi and it took about 2mins to get to the sea life centre there! Also worth a visit just to see the sharks swim above you.
The hotel staff were very friendly, spoke good English and the breakfast buffet was superb. They had everything from bacon and eggs, to fresh strawberries, muffins, cereal and salmon. The room, a twin was small, but I had expected this as I had read other reviews, the location was more important. Saying that the bathroom was a good size and the room was very clean. One problem I had was the smoker I was with tried to open the window but it was sealed and we had to ask reception to come up each time we wanted it opened or closed. In the end we just left it open to the noise of the city, in the distance but nevertheless I am not used to honking and beeping in the early hours and it did keep me awake. It is NOT a noisy hotel at all but a city doesn’t sleep and with the window open I could hear it all.
Downstairs there is a nice little sitting area for having a coffee and snacks, a good place to plan your journey with lots of tables. We used the bus system ...the tourist bus (the receptionist explained it all) is so cheap and you can basically go anywhere.....we saw so much this way. Don’t miss Gaudi's architecture, his park, the house he designed, the cathedral that is still being built called the Sagrada. The cathedral is jaw dropping...huge, magnificent, like a sculpture of wet sand of stalactites....go there and see for yourself!
There are plenty of places to eat, not so many street cafes, but it wasn’t expensive there at all. We were warned about pickpockets but had no problems ourselves. but we had them lassoed around our arms! Anyway Barcelona was terrific, and the H10 Montcada Hotel was too. So good in fact that my sister in law, who I went with, has recommended it to her father who is out this summer. Remember rooms are small but clean, very clean and the location is a MUST MUST MUST!!!! Have fun.

I've just come back from my hen weekend to Barcelona and stayed in the H10 Montcada Hotel. On arrival, we checked in and were given champagne in the reception, we sat down and my bag was stolen next to me (on the same chair that I was sat on!!), it had everything in there passport, all my money, credit cards, driving licence, ipod, camera, mobile...everything! I ran up to reception and the lady said she saw the person who stole it and had tried to stop her, yet we heard nothing and we were sat not too far from the reception desk!
They said they would phone the police but no one came and they said they didn't have cctv! I went to the police station and filled in several forms, no one spoke english and I was shocked at how many tourists were in the police station reporting the same thing! The following day I went to the British Embassy and managed to get an emergency passport, which my friend had to pay for, as I didn't have any money, or ID! The staff in the British Embassy weren't even British! The hotel didn't help with anything, didn't even check if we were okay - it was appalling!
Then on the last night, myself and two friends were walking arm in arm, literally seconds from the hotel and a man crossed the road and grabbed my friends bag, which was around her body and dragged her down the street, luckily we still had hold of her, but he stole her camera, bank cards, money and hotel keys. Again the hotel done nothing...and by then we were all too scared to leave the hotel to report the incident to the police - we just wanted to come home!
Yes Barcelona is beautiful and the hotel is lovely, but please do not go here, as it's not worth your own personal safety!!!! When I spoke to the receptionist about it she said it happens all the time and we were luckily that we weren't hurt, as normally the thieves are aggressive!!! This is awful, so please, please don't go here as I really don't want anyone else experiencing what we have this weekend, it's seriously not worth it!
