My family and I have returned today from 17 nights at the Kervansaray hotel in bodrum. The turkish tourist board give this hotel a 5 star rating and Thomas cook a 4 star rating. In our opinon it is more 3 star than 4 and certainly nowhere near a 5 star. The hotel needs an... more

This was our third time staying near Bodrum, which is a buzzing town with shops, boat trips, bars and restaurants and serviced by dolmus mini buses all through the day and night. There is also a free hotel shuttle bus. I notice one reviewer had trouble with travellers... more

This was my 1st time to Turkey and I just wanted a clean hotel with decent food and kid's entertainment. The rooms were huge, I had a double bed, my 18 month old had a travel cot and my son had a single bed, with still enough space for a sofa, armchair and coffee table. ... more

I could not fault this hotel. There were 4 adults and one 3 year old in our group. All of us enjoyed our stay. Definately try the turkish bath in the hotel, this includes sauna, massage and face mask. It is a lot dearer but you feel like you are glowing when they are... more

charming hotel
i found the hotel lovely, the food good, the cleanliness second to none and the staff very charming. We had only booked the cheap room and found it quite adequate. The only downside to my holiday was that I was bitten by a mosquito and had an overnight stay in hospital because of it, this I know is not the hotels fault but I would just like to make you aware to use repellants as most people were bitten unluckily for me I had an allergic reaction. The hotel was not full at our time of stay so therefore never a shortage of sunbeds no queueing. for anything. The evening entertainment as others have mentioned is not to everyones taste, but the entertainment staff are so sweet they do their best and it is very diffilcult for them to appeal to so many different languages. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys the all inclusive concept.
Excellant hotel overlooking sea views
"This is really a fantastic hotel overlooking the sea with some great facilities. Had a minor few problems upon arrival where they allocated us a room with no view (as we specified) and next to a noisey outside generator. They happily changed this room immediately to another which had wonderful sea views and large balcony. Unfortunately, water work issues meant that we had to vacate this room several days later to a similiar one. However, the hotel offered us a free late check out and a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience. Please be aware, this entire complex is perched on a steep hillside and as such, boasts many hundreds of steps! There are lifts but may still proove difficult for elderly or disabled guests. The evening entertainment I have to say is rubbish! The shows are very ameatuer with limited props and often mimed. Not enjoyable, more irritating! The alternative was a 'disco' which was a 'dj' who played the same dozen tracks over and over the entire time we were there. Also live music comprised of two guitar singers playing 'Brian Adams' type tracks! If you want entertaining then please go to Bodrum town - really! Overall, hotel very good. Be careful of taxi fares here. A trip from the hotel over to Bodrum 10 minutes away cost around 20TLR (about £8). On the way back after 12midnight they wanted over 60TLR! (about £24). Managed to get it down to 30TLR but still expensive. There are buses every 10-15mins from outside the hotel but you do have to wave your arms so that they know to stop. They cost 2.5TLR each way (about £1) and run late into the night. The hotel provides a free shuttle service from the reception but you have to reserve a seat in advance. They run at 9am and back at 12midday, 2pm and back at 5pm and 9pm and back at 12midnight. Remember to barter heavily with the shop keepers in Bodrum as their prices are often heavily inflated. Expect to pay at least half of what they original start at. The castle is ok to have a wonder around but dont expect too much to thrill you there!"
Fantastic! Just booked again for October!
Just returned from the most chilled out holiday ever! Thought i would try all-inclusive,best choice i've ever made! Went with 6 adults and 2 teenagers, amazing hotel, very friendly, spotless clean, fantastic food and not a cloud in the sky all week! Evening entertainment could be a little more varied, but it give's you more of an excuse to sit by the bar all night getting served free drinks! Just booked up again for october, kid's loved it and great value for money! Very highly reccommended!
Really good fun - would go back.
Visited with a friend in the first week of June 09 - had an amazing time here and I would really recommend to anyone. We met people of all ages and all seemed to be having a great time. The rooms were fine, clean and modern - the pool was massive and wasnt very busy. I had been told it got busier towards the summer break, July/Aug but late May/June was a great time to visit. The food was really nice - very Turkish. There were only chips on one night which was fine for us but i imagine some people would have wanted more bland food. Try the Sultan restaurant it was great! We wanted a few nights out in Bodrum and the animation team does a good trip out every couple of days, taking and picking you up in hotel minibus. We also got the Dulmus into and back from Bodrum which was very easy, and regular. They stop around 1 or 2am. We got a taxi back on 3 occasions, costing between 55 - 40 lira so do bargain for a good price! Overall we were both very impressed with the hotel, the staff, the facilities and food. I would return without hesitation. The hotel doesnt get the reviews it deserves. We were told by somebody that it was regarded as one of the best hotels in the region.
WOULD DEFINATELY GO BACK !!!!!!
Had a fantastic week at the kervansaray, lovely hotel, lovely food and very friendly staff. Dont be put off by some of the reviews , you cant please some people !! Plenty of sunloungers by the 2 pools, enjoyed the water slides !!!!! Regular dolmus service that goes past the hotel approx £1 into bodrum one way. Have a massage its worth it !! Nice indoor pool !!! The photographer are great lads, had some lovely photos taken. I wouldnt hesitate to return.
Perfect!!
Travelled here with my boyfriend , Hotel is beautiful, very modern for a foreign Turkish hotel, The pool is huge and plenty of sunbeds throughout the resort .. The Animation team are fab very funny and make sure you get involved with them as they make your holiday.. Food is lovely the first time you go to the restaurant is a bit daunting but you will find something you like !! Omellettes and pancakes cooked by a chef outdoors were our fave! Bodrum is about 10mins away on a dolmus Taxi back you can barter down to 25/30lira we went in a few times but the hotel had everything so we chose to stay there.. We are a couple 26 and 33 and loved every minute of it the waiters are friendly and staff cant do enough for you photographers are great too... would go back again ,, Diddy from animation.. craziest girl I have ever met.. Have fun! x
Great value, and a great holiday
All the basics are well coverred at this resort. The rooms are clean and functional with a daily maid service. The hotel is well designed with most of the facilities you want at a hotel but it is on a steep hill so if you have mobility problems it's not for you. The food is excellent with a big choice of salad, veg and meat dishes always well prepared. there is an a-la-cart restaurant but only 1 visit per stay is allowed which is a bit stingey. The animation team where fantastic during the day (put your haaands up) even if it seems a bit OTT get involved with the games etc it will make your holiday! Their evening entertainment is enthusiastic although perhaps not to broadway standards but still great fun. All the staff were friendly and helpful and their English was excellent and seemed to be better to guests who took the time to talk to them and be courteous. The other guests where made up mainly of Belgians with a fair sprinkelling of Dutch Brits and French this makes for a great atmosphere (with fewer Germans and Russians) and we met some great people who we will keep in touch with. Our family had one of the best holidays we have had and would thoroughly recommend the resort (pay for the balcony/view upgrade it was well worth it) and also go and book a boat trip down at the Marina in Bodrum, very cheap (£12 each) and great fun.
Best holiday I've ever had, would go back tomorrow if I could.
Rooms were spotless, bedding & towels changed everyday. Food was excellent - restaurant staff and chef's never stopped. Advise to visit A'la Carte Restaurant at least once during your stay. Also, have Turkish Bath in Spa - add to basic by having a Peel/Foam & Massage - only 50euro. Prices will always be discounted. Hotel photographer's very friendly - we got some lovely shots taken at sunset. We will be returning. Couldn't fault the place.
Never Again.
Never again. Hotel was fine on the surface. First room we checked into was not clean at all, the lights didn't work, the fridge didn't work and the air conditioning was set to heat the room at night and not changeable . The room was also in front of a power room that smelt of petrol and made a mass of generator noise. We complained and the staff tried to fob us off that everything was fine. We waited for over 2 hours for 2 people to come to the room. Decided at this point to wait till the holiday rep came and demanded we be moved to a clean room away from noise. Spoke to the rep who agreed to speak to the manager and we were finally agreed another room. This was after 11am on Sunday. We'd arrived at 6am. The second room was better so we agreed as we needed to sleep having travelled during the night. We found again the air con was set to heat only and fridge and safe not working and locked. Requested the above issues to be resolved. Someone came after about 2 hours and couldn't fix the safe and he ask we call him after we'd done with our day. Rang again that night. Reported the same issues and we left to wait from 7pm till nearly 10 pm. Rang reception half way between and he said someone would come. Finally got fed up as dinner was due to stop being serves and hadn't eaten. Explained to reception I would wait no longer and said it acceptable for them to enter the room while we were at lunch and they could go ahead and fix the fridge and safe. Came back later that evening and everything was the same. By now I just gave up and decided I couldn't spend the entire week chasing after them. Tried to make the best of it and decided to complain at the end of the stay. All inclusive finishes at 12pm which is fine but staff where aggressively precise watching the watches and trying to limit the amount you ordered leading up to it, even to a point of filthy looks and comments we couldn't understand, and just ignoring our requests. Food was no real problem and lots to choose from but pudding where always the same and not of any quality. Fake cream, cheap and produced on mass. Hardly touched it myself all holiday. Hotel view was fantastic and can't be faulted here, but mother earth made that. Plenty of shade in palm trees and pool area was good. Bug Bare: Never book an all inclusive flighting in the early mornings. We paid for 7 nights and got 6. I think its false advertising and needs to be clear when booking that your travel is supposably part of you holiday. Paid £30 to have room extended for late check out and this was limited till 5pm. Complained via rep and had it extended to 9pm. pick up was 2am. I will never go back to this hotel and warn people of our issues. Other people had similair problems and one chap asked to be moved to another hotel as he's believed it was a 5 star (which it is not). I'd rate the hotel a 2+ star to 3 star. If you go make sure you get a villa not a room. Watch the sheets as they didn't change them one day and just made the same back up. I strongly think its about time the travel industry stopped selling this way and advertise clearly that your holiday is what it is. 6 nights all inclusive in and dirty hotel with complimentary buses to the town that fill up very early so you have to use the public bus anyway Holiday. Be warned and be aware.
Very good
The hotel is very nice: swimming pool, rooms and service. Food is above average for a 5 star in Turkey and will meet everyone's requirements. Indoor pool is not so good.
