Aug 2007, Mr P Wilkens

We were extremely pleased with the hotel, great pools for the children and being situated on the beach was lovely. Only a 5 minute walk away was Yahsi with restaurants and a few shops lining the promenade.
There are a few small shops selling clothes, trinkets, shoes etc. The only thing Yahsi doesn't have is a cash point machine.
The best restaurant by far is Viras. The staff are very friendly and the food is superb. Everything we had there was fantastic, the steaks are the best I have ever had. Mustafa the owner and his wife Vicky will do anything for you. Definitely the best place to go for value, quality and cleanliness.
We had a great holiday and will definitely be re-visiting this resort.

Aug 2007, Mrs K Watkiss

Lovely location with beautiful sea views, do not let them put you on the other side of the road as they did with us, rooms are like prison cells and have cockroaches!!! Once they moved us everything was fine.
Even though the hotel is rated a 4* I would say it’s more 3-3.1/2. Stayed in August so was a nice surprise to find that there were plenty of sun beds available at poolside every day, was really nice and quiet.
We stayed BB and breakfast was really quite bland. Do not and I stress ‘do not’ eat at Jimmys only if you want to get ill!!!! Viras by far is the best of the bunch worth every penny.
Overall had a nice relaxing week’s holiday with not a cloud in sight.

We stayed a week at the Lighthouse...
9 / 10
Aug 2007, Ms Y ANDERSON

We stayed a week at the Lighthouse hotel. I checked the reviews about this hotel before I booked and I'm pleased to say that it is indeed a very nice place to stay; well kept with friendly and helpful staff, including our cleaner.
We (my daughter and I) stayed on a half board basis and were horrified to note that drinks or other foods were not allowed to be taken into our room, which meant that a lot of our money was spent on buying the drinks sold at the hotel, which were a tad expensive, if you ask me! Anyway there are ways and means of sneaking the forbidden goods into your room??
The food, well I don't want to knock this too much, but am inclined to agree with comments of other review writers about this. Just cover the food, please!? As for the main dishes, lets just say I was not impressed and I am not a fussy eater, it just didn't look appetising. My daughter ate very little even at breakfast time: often just sticking to toast (don't worry I told her off, as the breakfast choice isn't that bad). Probably best not to stay on a half board basis. Having said that, we did eat out once, in one of the restaurants in Yahsi Beach, I wont say which one, but it's supposed to be popular, according to the reviews. I was disappointed with that meal too, other than with the freshly baked pitta bread served with garlic butter, umm lovely.
Its very easy to get around with the Dolmus buses stopping right outside the hotel and really cheap too. Make the most of this service. The beaches were a little stoney/rocky so the purchase of a pair of rubber shoes would be a good buy. On the whole a fantastic enjoyable holiday. Lovely people, lovely place and I would go again.

This hotel was fantastic. Even though it wasn't finished being built you really couldn't tell. We got a fantastic price for this as a result and I felt it was worth a lot more.
All the rooms have the most breathtaking sea views I’ve ever seen. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Our room was cleaned every day and the hotel was spotless the whole time we were there.
The staff are very friendly and polite and if they can't understand you they quickly find someone who can.
The only thing that let this hotel down was the breakfast service but they were starting to cater more for the English style of breakfast towards the end of or stay.
The beachside bar serves excellent snacks for lunch and decent price too.

We had a week at the Lighthouse Hotel...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs L Barter

We had a week at the Lighthouse Hotel early June. It was a lovely clean new hotel.
There were lots of staff who were very friendly and polite. It was, we were told, early in the season and it was quiet. The views were lovely and the beach with its many sunbeds and supplied beach towels very good.
There was a little loud music but it varied. Both pools were lovely, very clean plenty of sunbeds with nice pads. We only used the small pool with the flume. There were only about six beds and cushions up there but if you timed it right it was practically empty and the sun was there until after 6.30.
We only tried the food in the hotel on the Turkish night and it was excellent, really authentic and plenty of it.
Beware the gold centre raffle it costs £4, they say you can win a piece of jewellery but if you are picked out you have to go on a trip to the Cesare gold centre in bodrum and although they are very polite and you do get a minute pair of gold earrings and a Turkish eye pendant (without chain) it is a bit of a con and the prices are really high.
The break dancers were breathtaking and the Turkish dancers were colourful and energetic and got the audience involved as well. There was a belly dancer and she was good but it went on a bit too long.
We ate mainly at jimmies just around the headland. The meals were very tasty, plenty of it, lovely free puffy bread, small meze, large salad and the main course and the drinks came free, a good bottle of red wine or anything you fancied coffees brandies etc. all this for £10 a head. Jimmy was a great guy, friendly, not really pushy but enthusiastic!
We also ate at Viras once and the food was good although more expensive and with the drinks much more expensive, also the welcome was disappointing and they were not very friendly at all although polite.
We went to the market in Turgutreis on Saturday with an organised trip. It was good but also ended up at another gold centre in bodrum. You don’t have to go in but you then have to get back to the lighthouse.
This is easy on the bus and if we had realised how frequent and easy the buses were we would have gone around a bit more. We liked Bodrum, there was plenty to see and do and it was really easy on the bus.
This was our first time in Turkey and we were captivated by the friendliness of the people, we enjoyed all the food and will definitely go back.

Jun 2007, Mr Gm Goulton

Everything at the hotel was 1st class. The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble.
We only had one meal in the hotel but it was good. The facilities are 2nd to none.
Gym, 3 pools, pool bar, beach bar, free sun beds at both pool and beach with towels provided. All in all a top class hotel.
If you are going out to eat try Jimmy's, its very reasonable and the food is very good.
A most enjoyable 2 weeks holiday, wish it could have been longer. Dolmus buses run to bodrum and other resorts and are not expensive.
If you want to try Turkey, start here.

Have just returned from a week at the lighthouse and can't praise the location, staff, and cleanliness and comfort enough!
Will be returning soon! Breakfasts were a little disappointing, but overall the holiday was excellent value for money.

May 2007, Mr D G Goodall

Well I have already made a review in 2005, but when I went back the next year it’s all a different story.
Walked in to the hotel and I immediately felt warm and exited. The views were also amazing.
We woke the next morning and the maid was coming into our room and this was far too early. We went out by the pool side and I went to get an ice cream. It took 2 mins for the staff to even take notice of me, plus they didn’t speak very good English.
The night life was rubbish. For the children especially, for English children, there was a very rubbish kids club as they played Turkish games and didn’t include most of the English children. The foreign guests were also very very rude.
We had to pay 10 pounds for cokes. We weren’t even allowed to bring in food and drink if we did it got took of us!!
As we went half board we had breakfast and tea and I tell you know they were very un-hygienic they didn’t cover the food.
For your own sake, I wouldn’t come here.

For the £320 we paid for a week at...
10 / 10
Mar 2007, Miss C Hutchings

For the £320 we paid for a week at the Lighthouse at the end of September, I would say that we got an excellent deal for a great holiday. We were after peace, quiet and some sunshine so the lack of evening entertainment and the relative quietness of the resort really suited us. (Only thing on offer was a Rep's cabaret night and a drag act about 20km up the coast!-we avoided both) I imagine there's more on during the busy season.
Hotel itself was very clean and obviously new, our room was cleaned and the sheets changed daily. The facilities were great; choice of two pools which we pretty much had to ourselves and a peaceful beach. I can imagine that it gets pretty packed during high summer as there isn't that much in the way of space around the pool and the hotel beach is fairly small.
Staff were really friendly, although on the first night when we asked where Ortakent village was to find a restaurant the member of staff on duty pretended not to know what we were talking about and tried to sign us up to the hotel's evening meal plan (5 days minimum booking). Breakfast wasn't particularly pleasant; cereal, bread and cold meats which reappeared day after day and were left uncovered.
In Ortakent you will find a wide variety of very reasonably priced restaurants, most offering a free bottle of wine with a meal. Jimmy's was very good; he was friendly, we ate by candlelight on the beach and I think the bill came in at about £15 for two of us including dessert and wine! As a vegetarian I found that there was a choice of local foods as well as pizza etc. Vira's was also very nice and they were very helpful with information about visiting Bodrum on the rainy day we had.
I would definitely recommend the Lighthouse, particularly at the end of the season for a quiet break with good weather. We were warned about sea urchins and some people had rubber shoes to wear whilst in the sea which might be a sensible idea.

Nov 2006, Ms R Lyne

The hotel was fantastic for the price we paid. The place was spotless, our room was cleaned everyday from top to bottom.
The room was amazing and the view was breathtaking. Even though the hotel wasn't quite finished and they were still building the water sports complex at the back you couldn't tell, they hardly made a sound which is a welcome surprise compared to other hotels we've stayed in.
The staff were fantastic and friendly and even if they couldn't understand what you were saying they would quickly find someone to translate.
The beach bar served amazing food though the breakfast could have been lot better. We had no problems with taking food and drink into our room-we even asked a member of the staff and they agreed.
If anyone is thinking of visiting Turkey and wants authentic Turkey with stunning views then this is the place to go.

The hotel was really nice so I don’t know what you are all complaining. Mine and my friends air con worked perfectly the music on the beach I thought the music added a nice atmosphere. The drinks were not expensive. The waiters and bar staff were great!
They made us laugh and were always friendly. I would recommend Jimmy’s restaurant to anyone and also the hotel food was very nice and there was plenty of variety.
The bar staff made me and my friend made us laugh so they were mint. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. 10/10.
