most awful hotel
2 / 10
Sep 2010, LouLou

this hotel by far has to be the worst i have ever visited since i have been going abroad, we was expecting alot better as thompson told us it was a 4star hotel with a balcony on every room, entertainment and etc. we went all inclusive which basically means we shouldnt of had to take much money as food and drinks are all part of the package and entertainment was also mentioned. as a couple we took £700 to spent for a two week holiday on which we thought we would have been able to spend on trips and going out etc.. when we got to the hotel we was disgusted! before i could take a shower i had to clean over the shower head because as i turned it on mould was coming off with the water. the shower was covered in mildew. the majority of the staff working here are very rude and ignorant. the food was horrendous, the selection that was there was between dry bread, cracked wheat, salad and various turkish dishes. no butter or milk was available. the alcohol from the bar is undrinkable as they make it very very strong. every bit of spending money we took was spent on food eating out every day for 14 days! bobbys resturant and viras are very nice. the only thing i could say that is genuinely nice about this hotel is the fact that it is located on the beach front. there was no entertainment what so ever apart from a turkish night on a saturday and childrens disco which was organised by english visitors. the hotel cleaners cant be trusted as we was told by another family they was robbing things from their room, so we wouldnt let them in unless everything was locked in our suitcases, we put a dont disturb sign on our door and the maid still insisted on coming in, thinking we wasnt in the room. overall i wouldnt advise anybody to ever go to this hotel, it will make your holiday miserable!

Oct 2008, Ms C Windsor

If you are paying under £200.00 / week then i would say go. Anything over that and you are better off looking elswhere in Yashi / Ortakent.
Dont expect to eat in the hotel - because the food is truly horrible. We saw waiters scrape un eaten and half eaten food back onto service trays for other guests to eat! Food is luke warm - but that is to be expected of Turkey.
The drinks are so strong that they are undrinkable - the beer is ok!
The rooms are very...very...very... basic and shower had mould all around the tray. Lucky I brought the bleach! However toilet, floors, beds cleaned daily. Clean(but threadbare) towels daily and linen ok & clean.
The only reason we stayed in the hotel is the location. Fabulous beach and truly wonderfull views. Close to Gumbet and only 35 lira to Bodrum in taxi.
Great Restaurant next to hotel called Vira's - our saviour. Clean - great food - great service. A real pleasure!
Locals friendly and as we were three girls we felt very safe walking about at night.
I wouldnt recommend to families or elderly - however for 18 - 35 if your willing to go for a CHEAP break away - I wouldnt be too scared.
I would visit resort again - but I would give this hotel a wide birth.

Aug 2008, Mrs Linda Bailey

myself my husband ,daughter and 7year old grandson went and after reading all the reviews we thought about changing to another hotel but when we got their at 4pm after booking in were taken to our room,it was clean but had only 3 beds and a sofa so i went to reception and told them and within 30 mins they had taken out the sofa and put in a bed ,all the beds were ok.all the staff were very nice and you could have a laugh with them. There were plenty sun beds around both pools but if you wanted one right by the pool it was best to get one before breakfast. There are 2 water slides and they had someone at the top of them to let you no when it was ok to go down them my grandson loved them and spent most of his time on them.the food was not that good but if you not to fussy you could find something to eat i think that breakfast was the hardest to fill up on no bacon, sos or anything like that i made myself ham and cheese toasties they did make fresh pancakes which were very nice and had a choice of sauces to put on them.My husband and our daughter sometimes went to viva bar next door and had a breakfast about £3.They had chips at dinner and tea times veg pork chops lamb chops chickin, stew the deserts were not that good they were all soaked in a sweet sauce but there was fresh fruit.at about 3 30 you could have a snack of burger and chips which were made fresh and they were nice. The location was great right on the beach. They had some shows on which you could watch as you had your meal and at tea time you could sit around the pool if you wanted to to eat your meal.there was a childrens disco at night to and then at about 11pm there was a disco for the adults.Idont think i would go back their only because of the choice of food but if you have booked up dont let this put you off its not that bad as some of the reivews have said i think it must of changed

Jun 2008, Mr A Laird

On booking our holiday we were a little apprehensive after reading varying reviews. When we arrived we at Bodrum airport we were transferred from our main coach to a smaller bus with a driver who didn't know his way around the resort. Therefore our transfer took longer than expected.
When we eventually reached our hotel we were greeted by staff (nightshift) were we had great difficulty with the language barrier as our rep did not escort us to our hotel.
After beig checked in & escorted to our room we found the accommodation to be of an acceptable standard for a 3 star hotel. The hotel in general was very clean & the garden & pool area's were very well maintained. We found the staff to be friendly & polite. The only downside was the food, it was more marketed towards eastern europeans, although the food was edible & tasty the menus were in foriegn languages. I found after the 1st week of our stay the menu was repetitive. This did not deter us as we found a varied range of local bars & resturants next to the hotel which offered english menus at very reasonable prices. Our holiday in general was very good as we just did our own thing & transport to other resorts was easy & close to the hotel. We found other guests of the hotel (russians in general) to be very ignorant & abrubt if you think the germans are bad abroad then these people are 10 times worse. We would return to Ortakent but would probably go self catering in view of the wide range of choices available for eating out & the price's are very cheap. Also found the locals to be very friendly & although their english was not very good they were eager for us to teach them. If you go to Ortakent & are looking for some where to eat out then i would deffinately reccommend The Viva cafe Bar beside the water sports on the beach & Jimmy's resturant. these 2 are a must do.

Jun 2008, Mrs C Wallman

We were dreading our holiday after reading the adverse feedback on the hotel, it wouldnt have taken very much for us to have cancelled the holiday, but we went with the intention of making the best of it and if it was that bad we would have booked into another hotel.
But we were pleasantly suprised .all the bad comments were unfounded, the hotel was clean the pools were checked and kept clean, the grounds were perfectly maintained, the food was varied ,even my fussy husband found something to eat at every meal. The rooms, although small, were comfortable and had a fridge and telly (though no English speaking channels) All the staff were very pleasant and worked very hard,if we went back to Ortakent we would definitely look to stay here again.

The worst place I have ever seen, it...
1 / 10
Sep 2007, Miss B Taylor

The worst place I have ever seen, it does not deserve a 1 rating and should be removed from all travels agents recommendations. Absolutely horrendous, arrived first night to a "family room" consisting of 1 double bed and 1 half single, there were 4 of us Assured when booking that rooms would easily accommodate 4 of us.
The room had not been cleaned, mould on the shower doors, taps and water marks on the toilet roll holder suggested for some time. Brown marks over shower tray, holes in shower walls and brown marks all over ceiling. Fridge disgusting, not clean, brown marks everywhere and ice deposits all around top ice comaprtment. On entering we were greeted by an ashtray of cigarette butts and a hair ball, very nearly sick! We have taken numerous photos and video footage which you will probably see on holidays from hell!
Evening dinner was a disaster cartons of milk left out on the tables not on ice, flies on fruit, all cutlery not washed and smeared with grease and plates and saucers had leftover food marks from not being washed properly.
With a 3 year old boy and a 15 year old, we were not prepared to put up with this and spent all the next day Saturday on the internet to find alternative accomodation. Rep did not arrive at resort until 36 hours from our arrival, we checked out that evening and no one batted an eyelid or contacted us again.

The standard of accommodation was...
2 / 10
Mar 2007, Mrs Valerie Gregory

The standard of accommodation was basic, as we had expected, for the star rating and the price we had paid, however it had everything we required and was very clean.
The staff in the restaurants and bars could not have been more welcoming and willing to please. Unfortunately we had arrived 3 weeks before the end of their season and the management had already decided that it was over!
One of the swimming pools had been closed, together with the pool bar. The chef was obviously using up all his leftovers, the food lacked variety and quality. On a number of mornings there was no butter. For a number of days the electrically heated soup container gave off an electric shock when using the soup ladle to serve yourself - the remedy for this was to unplug it, consequently the soup was, more often than not, luke warm.
We would not recommend this hotel to anyone, certainly not towards the end of the season, because if this is your only holiday you deserve better than this.

Feb 2007, Mrs S Forrester

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Our bathroom was flooded and the fridge didn't work.
The food was awful and we had to eat dry bread for three days, as there was no butter.
There was no where inside to sit and the only comfortable seats were in the television room, which was up a slippy outside stair case.
The rep we had went back to England so we could not complain to any one. When we arrived home, we wrote to Thomas Cook and they said the food and other complaints should have been made to the rep.
The rooms were clean but very small but the outside was dirty and the glasses at the bars were all odd. The crockery was chipped and sometimes dirty.
There was no indication of what food we were eating, as none of the food was labelled.
There was a choice for breakfast. Three minute eggs or five minute eggs, both were the same.
Not a nice hotel at all.

Oct 2006, Mrs P Knowles

I never knew there was so many ways to cook chicken. We had same things every day for breakfast, eggs and bread.
The entertainment left a great deal to be desired. The hotel itself was ok, apart from the fridge in one of our rooms didn’t work we asked for 4 days gave up in end nothing was done.
We was told before we went that they would b something for the children e.g. mini club but there was nothing at all for them, they was bored and fed up. We spent all our time trying to occupy them. As far as all inclusive goes, waste of time and money. Won’t go there again

Me and my parents stayed in the club sardunya, petunya for two weeks. We had a great time! The food was ok but got a bit boring after a bit.
The entertainment was also good, and there was always something to do. The animation were very friendly, especially orkhan. I didn’t want to come back to rainy Newcastle.
Its been my best holiday and I hope to go back soon!

Aug 2006, Mrs J Burns-Smith

Basic accommodation, but relatively clean. Pool area nice with sun beds and shade. Food was worst we have had all inclusive.
Found a nice restaurant Jimmys turn right onto Yashi Beach and walk 5 mins. Food there great really reasonable, all drinks included in meal prices ate there every night of second week. Staff at hotel pleasant enough, the barber really nice guy, very friendly and helpful found if needed to know something better to ask him that go to reception.
If wanting to book tours go to Botur left onto Yashi beach head for dolmus station booked several trips with them competitive prices and excellent trips and advice.
