Yes, but....
from ctpulley
A good hotel with attentive staff. Great position for both the beach and nightlife. The cleanliness of the rooms was excellent. What did let it down terribly was the food (or lack of it, at times). The food was laid out and the flies crawled over it all the time. No protective covers were used, except for the omelettes. On one day (12th Sept.) there were no corn flakes, cutlery, coffee, juice, milk nor omelette at 8.30. (The breakfast time was 8 till 10). On the 14th, no milk, cornflakes no plates, and the cups were dirty and discusting, so we went without a coffee. Luckily there are a lot of restaurants nearby. Would recommend the Serhan as a good base only, but not the food. (Rice and cous cous with everything). (2 very young 58 year old 'uns).
prejudice

I booked to stay here for two weeks with hotelopia and had to cancel my booking due to the prejudice against me staying with my Turksih boyfriend however I was not made aware of this until AFTER I paid for my trip
Good Location but you get what you pay for

The rooms was basic, no fridge etc but everything you needed. The one English channel we had on the TV lost signal half way through our stay so there was no more Sky news and the shower leaked water that resulted in a puddle every time you showered. The worst thing for me was the lack of cleaning services, the BOY that cleaned the room only did so after 15h00 in the afternoon when we came back from the beech and wanted to use the room. He did not do much and we needed to ring reception everytime the loo paper ran out. Not all was bad the people were friendly and the food was very good for buffets. Relatively fast Internet available at a charge and safety boxes was also available at reception. Drinks were expensive even more so when you were not allowed to bring drinks off from the street and there was no mini bar in the rooms with cool drinks to use during the night. We arrived by prearranged transfers that the hotel arranged only later to find out that this is indeed illegal and they were hiring cars saying that we the tourist requested to be driven around. They would then make a fortune on taking several couples to and from the airport. I really disliked this seeing that no one explained or asked us and thus unwillingly put us in a vulnerable position with the law. I would definitely go back to Gumbet just not so sure about the Hotel - the transfer fiasco really put me off!!
ok but nothing much for kids to do
from karenEssex
stayed there for two weeks with partner 2 teenagers and 10 yr old, the rooms were kept very clean the cleaners were lovely even tho they looked worn out from working all day and night, we did b&b but have to say didnt like the food every morning was the same thing and didnt fancy warm milk with my cornflakes. the bar staff were very friendly yet things to do in hotel were limited my kids had the swimming pool or the pool table. the pool area was clean yet no room to lay ur beds down or you would end up in pool. some restaurants were very overpriced the best one we found was the aloha the staff were great so was the food and prices. plenty of shops and restaurants in town all near the hotel but be prepared to get hassled to go spend your money in these shops as every day its the same you end up with piles of menus. i would go back to turkey yet somewhere else perhaps marmaris as people say its cheaper and go all inclusive as you spend a fortune on drinks and food and dont buy drinks from bodrum airport they charged us 30 lira for 2 cans coke and 2 waters.
Fantastic

Just got back from Gumbet this morning after a great week at the Serhan. We had two rooms; one at the front of the hotel with a largish balcony and one overlooking the pool with a small balcony. Both rooms were great; they were cleaned to a fantastic standard every day and the showers were ultra-powerful. The hotel staff are very friendly and we could not have had a nicer time. The location is just what we wanted - close to the beach, the bars and the shops and yet nice and quiet. The pool area is lovely, as is the bar area. We could not fault this hotel and cannot wait to return in September.
Loved It
from Salroy
We had visited this hotel for coffee etc. on numerous occasions but never stayed there, until June of last year. We loved every minute of it. In a quiet location but close enough to the hustle and bustle if you want it. 2 minutes to the beach, 3 minutes to catch the dolmus (local bus)and a great hotel with terrific staff. What more could you ask for! We booked directly with the hotel so got free transfers. The reception manager Ismail picked us up, armed with the bottles of water we had requested. We didn't arrive till 4.30am but the staff were great, really welcoming and still wide awake! We had a couple of beers before retiring for a couple of hours sleep. Breakfast was great, contintental style with meats, cheese, eggs or omelette, preserves, bread, juice, tea or coffee and there was also cereal and yoghurt. There was always fruit available. By the way, they do a wonderful scrambled egg but you have to ask for it. It was our wedding anniversary whilst there and we were presented with a wonderful fruit basket in our room along with a bottle of red wine to accompany it! Very thoughtful and much appreciated. We shared it around the pool the next day with family and new found friends! We only ate the evening buffet a couple of times as we prefer to eat out whilst in Turkey, so many places to choose from and our Turkish friends run some great eateries! What we did have was very good, some good staters and delicious soup, a nice choice of main meal and light sweet or fruit to finish. Our Daughter and family were there also and chose to take the evening meals to cut the cost down. They really enjoyed it. We did have some lunches there and a couple of meals in the evening in their bar/resteraunt. All were very good, nicely presented and value for money. The staff were brilliant, always friendly and attentive and they became friends. In fact we still email each other now! When it was time to leave, very emotionally, all the staff came out to see us off, despite the fact that some had already gone to bed. They do work some long hours! It was really emotional but made the perfect end to a great holiday! My Daughter can't wait to go back and we will be staying there again this June. I would highly recommend the Serhan to anyone! Stay at the Serhan Hotel !
from theidis
We have just returned from another stay at the Serhan and as usual it was fantastic. This is the third stay for me and the first for my partner and two children and for them they had a fantastic time. As usual the hotel management were friendly and efficient (Gurhan, Robert & Ismail) and the hotel staff, particulary Kevin, Gungay and Ozzy, really made my girls feel at home and relaxed. The bedrooms in the main building are kept very clean every day and the buffet style breakfast and dinner is very good. For anyone staying please also try the food from the menu (you must try the steak diana !) as this is often better than the food in some of the Gumbet restaurants and the childrens choice is also very good. The Serhan is also ideally located as it is close to the narrow beach and not right in the town centre so the evening noise is not a problem. The pool area is excellant with plenty of sun beds, but I agree with one review that there is not alot of room between the end of the beds and the pool itself. Basically we will be staying at the Hotel again and we can't wait !
Great Place To Be

Wrote a few weeks ago to say I had seen this hotel but not yet stayed there. Rectified that now! Just come back from a wonderful (in Turkish thats Harika) two weeks! Couldn't fault the hotel or its' staff. Best hotel I have ever stayed in Turkey and I've stayed in a few! Quiet location (so you can sleep) but close to the hustle and bustle if you want it. Great front desk staff, waiters and cleaners. Picked up from the airport and taken back. Free air con. and satellite TV (not that I wanted it) Cheapest safe boxes too. Small and friendly, very personal and they care. Made more new Turkish friends and we will be emailing each other. Can't wqait to go back! I would highly recommend this hotel! If you read this Ismail or Hakan, Merhabba!
A holiday to remeber
from apandt
We stayed for two weeks. It is in the quieter part of Gumbet not far from the shallow beach and the sea, where the sunbeds are free. The hotel, swimming pool and its environs were spotless. Half of the bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard and were cleaned every daywith the sheets and towels changed at least twice a week. The rest of the rooms are, hopefully, to be refurbished next winter. All have air-conditioniog, T.V. and direct dial telephone. The food in the restaurant was buffet style. Breakfast was continentalwith fruit juice, tea, coffee and milk. A choice of bread, butter and preserves, salads cheese and eggs. For the evening meal there was a choice of salads and a delicious soup for starters and a choice of of main meal with meat, fish and a vegetable dish. This was followed with a light sweet dish and/or fruit. There is also an excellent and varied snack menu available all day until late. There is a large bar area with snooker, darts and large T.V. screen. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Any complaints were dealt with immediately. An added bonus this year is that there is free transport from and to the airport if your holiday is booked through the hotel which can be easily done on the internet. The Turkish people as a race, are a delight. They all helped to make our first holiday to Turkey one of the best holidays we have ever taken.
what a dump!
from A TripAdvisor Member
my husband and myself recently holidayed in turkey in kusadasi. Because of a very early morning flight back to England we opted to pay £26 each through our First Choice Rep to have the use of a hotel room in Bodrum for the last evening of our holiday. We weren't told which hotel it would be but only that we would have the use of the room, an evening meal and all the facilities of the hotel. We were actually taken to Hotel Serhan in Gumbet and our room was the pits. It was dark, damp and smelly. If I had booked a weeks holiday there I think I would have got straight back on the plane. The pool area was quite nice, but the sunbeds couldn't be laid flat because there wasn't enough walking space around the pool. The shower in the room wouldn't stay on it's holder and the doors wouldn't close properly so the water went everywhere. Our 'Balcony' looked out onto a very small piece of wasteland(we were on the ground floor). My advice to anyone thinking of staying at the Hotel Serhan 'DONT'!!!

Have just returned home after a week in the Serhan and thought it was fantastic. On arrival was given a room at the front of the hotel which was very noisy due to traffic but next day was given a different room which was very peaceful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.... more
