My wife booked this hotel for 3 nights because it has a central location. However it seems to be the way with this hotel and many in Barcelona, that they will hike prices to an outlandish degree if there is a business conference in town. So first let me say, this review is based on the price paid (220 euro per night!). On arrival, the staff were friendly and welcomed us with a glass of champagne, which was a nice touch. The general walkways were tidy, but a little shabby. To get to our room we had to take 2 very small lifts. My wife took the stairs sometimes to avoid them. Our room was very small and we had to pack our suitcase away to move around freely. Generally, the room was clean, although the bedding was basic. There were no dressing gowns and only 1 additional blanket. The bath was tiny. It could not fit even 1 small adult. The room TV was basic with poor signal reception and although the hotel was advertised with Wi-Fi available, it was impossible to use anywhere but the lobby. it is a shame the management of this hotel are driven to exploit the Barcelona conference calendar. Had they stuck to an appropriate fee for their service category (2/3 star), this review might well be more forgiving. In summary, I would avoid this hotel. I hope their are more hotels in Barcelona that are less exploitative.

We stayed in the Gravina hotel on bed...
7 / 10
Mar 2008, Mrs R Frost

We stayed in the Gravina hotel on bed and breakfast basis for 3 days and 3 nights. We throughly enjoyed our stay here - although we marked the hotel wrong on the map so took an hour to find it!! The room was small and basic but very nice all the same. The bathroom was very nice and the bed very comfortable. We had a telly but only had Sky News and MTV in English. The room was cleaned promptly every morning. Breakfast was the nicest we have ever had in a hotel with everything you can think of on offer - hot and cold - even pizza, cakes and doghnuts!! The waitresses and waiter were very friendly. The hotel is very nice indeed and we would consider staying again. Beware - we had a room next to the lift shaft and if you are a light sleeper (as am I) this can be very annoying at night so request a room nearer the front or back of the hotel.

Barcelona is a great place to visit...
10 / 10
Oct 2004, Mrs J Lewis

Barcelona is a great place to visit for anyone. I travelled as part of a 40th birthday celebration party of 8 women. We all wanted to see and do different things and spent our days in small groups seeing the sights, shopping eating and drinking, then met up in the evenings for a drink and to decide where to go to eat and dance.
The weather was good and most of us saw all the main attractions Gaudi had to offer. The shops were excellent and the food and drinks wonderful as well as good value.
The Hotel Gravina although only a three star excelled its self. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the rooms of a high standard, the breakfast a really good start to the day ( a bottle of cava always available)and definitely a place to which I will be returning with my family.
Other attractions include a theme park, a cable car ride, the football stadium, many art exhibits and the beach. I can’t wait to go back.

The Hotel Gravina is well placed in...
8 / 10

The Hotel Gravina is well placed in the centre of Barcelona just by Catalunya Square and the Ramblas. It is an old fashioned 3 star hotel but it has all the facilities you can need. Rooms vary in size, but the hotel staff were very attentive. The breakfast is wonderful with an excellent range of hot and cold dishes and some gorgeous cakes that shouldn’t really be eaten for breakfast!
Barcelona is a totally vibrant city and I would go there again and again. It is cultured and interesting yet full of life and fun. The shopping is also wonderful and everyone goes out to shop at 8pm at night almost like a social event.
I would recommend the Picasso museum in the old quarter and also the Parc Guel by Gaudi which has gingerbread houses and the famous lizard sitting on some steps.
