A Five Plus Hotel
from Canadian94
We have just returned from a two week stay at Coral Mist Hotel and can say everything was absolutely fantastic. We stayed in a studio suite and the room was very spacious for two, clean, comfortable and the view was breathtaking. All the staff was wonderful and very helpful if you required anything. The beach and pool area was never very crowded and was kept clean. George was right there to put up an umbrella for you, Reggie was helpful in arranging outings and Vi at the Front Desk was also helpful if anything was required. We had no issue with our towels whatsover. In the morning when we left our room we just made sure that we put the sign on the door to please make up our room. By the time we came back our room was made up with fresh towels. This hotel is wonderful and cannot wait to go back.
Fabulous Coral Mist!!
from Tara2728
My boyfriend and i have just returned from 2 brilliant weeks in Barbados staying at the Coral Mist. We booked through First Choice who also comes highly recommended and travelled on 17th November. The hotel is in a good location, yes it backs onto a road but this didn't affect us in the slightest, we hardly heard the traffic and neither was the sound of the sea at night too overpowering (all rooms are beach front) Everything you need is no more than a 10-15 min walk away, this includes the Gap, supermarkets, cafe's etc. We stayed in a deluxe studio room which was fine for us, it was of a good size and most importantly clean and well equiped. There was a kitchen area which had everything you will need all except a kettle. The bathroom didn't have a bath but instead a large shower and we had clean towels everyday, the maid service is daily and very good. The beach is stunning, there were no more than 15 people on it at a time, it was clean and there were always sun loungers and umbrellas available as well as boogie boards and kayaks. We did get approached quite often by locals selling things but with a firm "No" they tend not to hassell you further. The staff were sooo polite and always happy to help. We ate breakfast and lunch in the hotel restaurant a few times which was very good, the restaurant is quite small with more tables outside than in. Recommendations: Lunch - Bubba's (to the left of the hotel)and Cafe Blue (to the right). Dinner - Champers, Lucky Horseshoe, Bellini's, Cafe Sol, McBrides, The Ship Inn, Jam Rock Cafe, Harlequin, a chinese accross the road from the Accra Beach Hotel. Definitly rent a car, see the West Coast of the Island it's like something from Bel Air, Bathsheba, and Animal Flower Cave(North Point). The 4x4 safari trip was also brill. Overall we had a fantastic time and have no complaints, i am definitly booking up soon to go back to the Coral Mist next year. I hope this review has helped!!
Great Place
from luckycannuck
We stayed there for two weeks from November 11th through to the 25th. It has one of the nicest beaches in the Barbados however it can get a bit rough at times. The rooms are nicely decorated and all have ocean view. We ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and found the food to be quite good. The maids did a really good job on cleaning the rooms, they even did the dirty dishes. The only problem we had at all was with the beach towles but after reading a few of the other reviews it seems we were not the only ones. Over all this hotel is a great value and we would return there in a heartbeat. Everything is close by grocery stores, laundrymat, car rental, etc. We rented a car for three days to see the rest of the island and that was alot of fun or adventure I should say with the steering wheel on the opposite side of what we are used to not mention driving on the other side of the road and then there is their roundabouts and I am not even going to begin to try to explain how they work except to say give yourself a day to get used to them and be prepared to spend that day totaly lost or going arond in circles. Don't be shy asking for directions because as they will surely tell you you can't get lost in the Barbados you can only make a wrong turn, but they go out of their way to get you where you want to go. Before you head out ask Reggie at the hotel to get you your car he is amazing and will book you anything you want and he will find the best deals on what ever it is you want to do. Overall the Coral Mist is just fine, the people who work there are great and we can't wait to back.
Simple, but it was everything we expected
from Quinny792
The Coral Mist is a simple hotel, but has about everything you need...you will be on the beach or out touring most of the time anyway. We stayed Oct. 14 - 26th, 2005. Our room was up to standards, large and the beds were made up into a king. The view from the balcony is probably one of the best on the island and every room has a beach view. We could hear the ocean waves even though we had all windows and doors closed (we needed the air on). The air condition was a little strange in the way that you had to leave your key ring in a little slot when you were in the room in order to keep the air-conditioning on. I'm not sure if that was because we had a defected slot or because they wanted you to keep the air off during the day when you were out and had your key with you. Our key came off the little ring part, so we just kept the ring in the slot all day so the air would stay on. The maids were very nice to not turn it off. The front-desk people were wonderful and Omar the manager was very helpful and nice. We had no problems with beach towels, but if you took yours with you they didn't put extras in your room. They would gladly replace them when you brought them back. The maids were very accomodating and even washed our 4 place settings and pots and pans...EVERY MORNING! One downfall, the hotel was supposed to offer snorkeling and boogie board equipment, but no snorkeling equipment was available when we needed it at a short notice. The just didn't offer it anymore. We did notice the pool guard sleeping several times, but we just laughed at it. The pool and beach areas were always clean and uncluttered. We were going to stay at the Coral Sands, but with the Tradewind Tours going out of business our reservation was canceled. We did walk by the Coral Sands and we were so glad we didn't stay there! The hotel is much further from the beach, you have to look over the restaurant to see the beach and water, the beach isn't nearly as big as it looks on their website and there were old boats and garbage all over it! We loved Barbados and would love to go back someday! The best place to eat is definitely the Cliff, located on the west side of the island near the Sandy Lane Beach Resort. High priced, but you get what you pay for - the best filet you will ever have! You could cut it with a fork! Other places that we liked were Josef's and the Tides. Definitely take a trip to the east and north coasts to get a totally different feel of Barbados. The Roundhouse Restaurant on the far north coast is a nice restaurant where you can watch surfers. The best snorkeling was at the Folkstone Marine Park! If you love to snorkel, it's a must! Also, the scuba diving with Bubbles was great! You get to see about 5-7 shipwrecks in one dive! They let you on the boat to snorkel too. If we go back to Barbados, we won't have to think about where to stay...we will stay at the Coral Mist!!
Coral Mist Hotel
from Levs
Just returned from a two week stay at Coral Mist Beach Hotel in Christ Church and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location and occupies one of the best beaches on the south coast. Although none of the beaches are publically owned on the island, the beach here tended to 'feel' private as there wasn't really a through-traffic of people or beach sellers as the coral rocks at the Blue Orchid side prevents people walking through from Rockley Beach; although you can walk as far as Sandy Beach (or Sandy Bay) in the other direction. All the rooms overlook the beach, we stayed in a delux room which had a fully equipped kitchenette - just what we wanted. The room was cleaned daily, there was only one issue with the beach towels as you have to ask them to be changed. The hotel staff were more than helpful and always polite. The hotel bar/restaurant is very small and didn't tend to get too busy in the evening. The location of the hotel however is perfect for the local amenities and restuarants anyway so the choice is yours. The hotel sits quite near to the main road and at times you can hear the traffic, especially after a rain storm and even on a Friday night as everyone heads for Oistins but this generally didn't bother us. Overall a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel to all ages including small families.
Great location
from Sunseekers2051
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Coral Mist. Great location on one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados. All rooms are either new or redone, are oceanfront, and have balconies overlooking the Caribbean. Lovely and clean. The staff and location make the place - many restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk, 2 grocery stores, shopping, jewellery, all within walking distance. The staff is awesome - the girls on the front desk, the activities co-ordinator, the restaurant staff, and the housekeepers - all friendly and more than willing to help. The only problems we had were 1) with the towels - almost impossible to get fresh beach towels (no fault of the maids - just an extreme shortage), and even to get a full set in the room, generally took 2 or 3 trips by the maid. The system for logging towels in and out of each room was really labour intensive for the maids - definitely needs improvement. 2) the "beach guy" needs some supervision. He has a great set up for entertaining his friends and napping, but doesn't spend much time setting up the beach chairs or raking the beach. There was garbage on the beach that didn't get picked up for at least 4 days (and then we left so it could still be there!)The garbage cans near the beach area were always full, so for those of us who didn't want to litter, we had to be content with piling up our trash next to the container. I suppose these are relatively minor things, but when the rest of the property is so well looked after, it seems a shame that the standard kind of slips in these areas. I emailed the manager, and he assured me that these things are being looked into. Overall, we loved the hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return.
Had a great time

Had a wonderful time. This hotel is in a great location. Close to Gap and Bridgetown. Stores close by. The beach is nice and all rooms look at the water. Everyone who worked at the hotel was willing to help. Only problem was towels. Always had to go ask for beach towels. I would recommed this hotel for anyone looking to stay in barbados who is going to explore the island or for those who want to sit on a nice beach.
Great location, frienldy staff, a bit loud
from 1allsop
We stayed in this hotel in August 2005 and found it extremely nice. All rooms are ocean front, very modern and clean. The prices are very competitive and are excellent value. Location wise, it is only a few minutes away from St. Lawrence Gap and the beach (as close as it can get to the hotel) is just gorgeous. If there is one thing that we found disturbing, it is the noise coming from road: there is no noise insulation at all and it feels a bit like having the cars and buses driving right into your room. If you do not mind the noise, we definetely recommend it.
Fantastic!

If you're interested in a reasonably priced hotel staffed with very friendly people then Coral Mist is for you. Our apt. was right on the beautiful beach with loungers and umbrellas and bogieboards supplied for free. The pool is very nice, also. Our apt. was spacious and very up-to-date. The kitchen included a full size frig., stove, microwave, coffeemaker, sink, toaster and silverware and plates, etc. The bath was nice sized with a large walk-in shower. The hotel is in a great location, 2 blocks from a supermarket and shopping center, restaurants and within walking distance to St. Lawrence Gap. Bus stop right out in front. The restaurant, overlooking the beach, has very good food and a beautiful view. I highly recommend this hotel but don't book thru International Vacation, they're a disaster. I'd also like to recommend taxi driver Bertie Norgrove, (---). He provided us with a great island tour and even stopped at some beautiful places not on my 'sightseeing' list. He's friendly, dependable and enjoys showing off his beautiful home. We liked his style so much that we called him for all our taxi needs.
Great location

We have just returned from 6 relaxing days at the Coral Mist. We stayed in a 2nd floor studio room with a fantastic view of the beach and the ocean from the private balcony. The room also had a small well-equipped kitchen, fridge, aircon, tv and pretty much everything else we needed. You could hear the sea at night but it wasn't overbearingly noisy and the double-glazed balcony doors were very effective at muffling the noise. It was actually quite nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves and be reminded how close to the sea we were! When we arrived at the hotel we were disappointed to find that our room wasn't ready. We had to wait about for about 45 minutes while it was cleaned but relaxed on the deck right next to the ocean while we waited. The room was well worth the wait however and this was the only day it was cleaned late. On every other day the maids arrived in the morning and left it immaculate for our return later in the day. The beach itself was quiet and clean and was the best we visited whilst on the island. The hotel is in a good location about 10 minutes walk from St Lawrence Gap and about a 10 minute drive from Bridgetown. The bus-stop, supermarket, petrol station and plenty of restaurants are all nearby. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. It would be hard to find better value for the money and in such a good location right on the beach. The only negative point was its location next to the main road but many of the other hotels seemed to suffer from this problem too and the good points of this hotel far outweigh this.

As a regular traveler to Barbados we look for good basic accommodation in a good location. Coral Mist/Blue Orchids is both. The hotels are both fairly new (couple of years old) and very well maintained and clean. They are sister hotels, but run separately with their own... more
