Confortel Almirante

Whoever gave this place four stars must be retired by now. If it were a two-star hostel, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it, but I booked a group in there and we all wanted out immediately, however the city was packed, so we were stuck. Booked this on the internet before arriving. I couldn't find reviews on tripadvisor due to the name change, until just before we left to go to Barcelona. I say do not be swayed by the location because there are so many hotels around here. Firstly, if you want a 4* hotel, stay in the Olivia Plaza on Plaza Catalunya. You are staying at this hotel because of the location, on the eastern edge of the Gothic quarter, very close to the cathedral. Where ever you're going, if you can't walk there directly, you can reach it by the local metro stop. Several charming cafes and restaurants within one hundred meters. Great location, close to everything. Good sized room and a wonderful bathroom! A bit of traffic noise....but then it is in the heart of a city. Check out MacCarthys Bar next door....the best!

I have just returned from a short stay in Barcelona. The hotel was fine, had a great location, was very clean amd had comfortable beds. However, we were also was initially put in a room with a window looking into a shaft with very little light, we asked to be moved and the staff found us a better room overlooking the street-they did this with no fuss at all and were very helpful. the hotel is in the center of everything. 2 minutes from a metro station, 5 minutes from the ramabls st. , 10 minutes from the beach (all this in a walk!!!) the rooms are nice (we got a big room with a view to the street, but i know there are small rooms with no window so be carefull). the food was above the avarage we can imgine and the service of the staff was very kindfull. the hotel is very clean and the room have a nice t.v., mini bar and etc. i will shorly come back in the nwxt trip to barcelona

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The person who awarded the 4 star rating should be locked up (preferably in this hotel - the room we were in had no windows). The location is quite good but there are far better hotels which are much much better value for money

Stayed 30/04/05-3/04/05 Excellent location Breakfast excellent,juices,cereals,meats,cheeses,bacon&eggs. Yes we also had a view into a rear well,but what do you expect in a city centre hotel(herds of charging wildebeeste?) Irish bar next door but why not go local? Positive Points : Good Location Negative Points : The whole place stank of chinese food (bizarre), the floors were cracked and dirty, views from the room we had was onto a back passage was lots of peoples washing, noisy, worst bar in the world, foods crap and it is more like a two star. I've had better times in a travel lodge. If you book through easy jet they are lying when they say theres a restaurant cause thats bull. Good Irish bar next door called McCarthys tho!

Stayed here in March 2005. Excellent location close to port, catherdral and shopping areas. Clean rooms, good shower, nice breakfast, friendly helpful staff. It is a basic but good hotel. Excellent value. I intend to return
