Laguna Hotel

My husband and I stayed at Fantasia Hotel for a week. The hotel itself is beautiful, newly refurbished and the location is great, but the food is unacceptable. Eventhough we paid for full board, after our second night we could not eat at the hotel anymore. The food is very basic and made from cheap ingridients. On two occasions there was hair in my food and when you confront the staff they just look at you with a blank expression. They don't even apoligise. Just returned from 2 weeks at the newly refurbished Fantasia Hotel in Icmeler and it was a great experience. From the images I've seen of the old Laguna Hotel, the new owners have done a wonderful job refurbishing. It is clean and stylish, with very friendly helpful staff , from the chefs, the waiters; bar staff and chambermaids. Average and boring food, variable to poor service, limited concept and practice of customer care. Definitely not a deluxe or 4 star experience! Location great BUT key facilites just not yet available, though advertised. Management told me that it's been up and running for 4 weeks but things one would expect from a "deluxe!" hotel just NOT in place.Spa, massage and shop not yet open. The Fantasia (previously known as Laguna) has recently been fully refurbished and has new owners. The hotel has been beautifully decorated, very modern and stylish. We were given a suite on arrival (not by request, just lucky i suppose) room 107 with a spectacular view of the sea front. I did get a sneaky peak of the standard rooms and they too are very nice. After arriving at 6am and seeing the other hotels people were being dropped off at we were a little apprehensive about booking this trip (this was our first 'package tour'). The chav brigade left the bus in marmaris thank god!. Arrival was greeted by a cheerful secrity guard who took our bags up to the room. Well we arrived at half past 6 in the morning and I wasn't too keen on the reception. But wow, the view frm our room was amazing!!! The hotel is right by the beach and has the only stretch where palm trees grow so if you fancy a bit of shade it's there. The rooms are a good size if a bit dated. The balcony is lovely to soak up the view. The bathroom had a bath, shower but no freebie toiletries other than shampoo so we had to go and buy some showergel. We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks from 11-25 September. The hotel is in a quiet spot being the first hotel in the resort, its right on the beach and there are spectacular views across the bay from most rooms. We were booked for half board, but having tried the food at dinner on three occasions, we choose to eat out. There are an abundance of restaurants serving great quality food in Icmeler (Mimosa and Set Steak House are highly recommended) at good prices.
