Accra Beach Hotel

myself and my family just returned from the accra beach. how gutted we were. we stayed thre for 4days until our rep moved us to the hilton. the hotel was a building site. they are building 80+rooms onto the hotel we paid for an ocean view room which we got. but directly to the side of us was the building works. it was noisy, messy and dusty. the dining room was over run with birds which were left to roam freely (over the laid tables and the fresh cutlery). all of my family were ill for two days..apparently there was a virus going around but... more

My boyfriend and I went to The Accra last February and from the moment we arrived we were delighted. We were given a complimentary drink when we arrived and could not believe the views when we were shown to our room. The food was brilliant and the room service very reasonable. We ate breakfast on the balcony every morning and had the choice of lounging on the beach or by the pool. The beach was beautiful, as was the pool bar, the views, the sunsets and the wonderful welcome we got. The staff were lovely and very helpful.... more

We stayed at the Accra Beach hotel for our honeymoon. It was very modern, clean and nice. It is right on a beautiful beach with great amentities. The front desk is more than happy to book all of your tours for you, and most of the tours send a cab/bus to pick you up and return you...don't panic if they are late; they are usually running behind. The only thing we needed a car for was activities to the North or East...however, if you get on a bus to Bridgetown, like the locals do, the bus will take you anywhere on the island for $1.50BDS.... more

We stayed at the Accra for a week in Feb 2006. We had a few bumps in making the reservation. When we emailed to confirm we discovered that they only had us down for one night! After a few attempts, we got that cleared up. Thankfully, they did have the rooms available--connecting rooms as we requested. The rooms were spacious, with King beds, two chairs, a desk, small table, and a armoire with small (probably 13-15") tv, and a small refrigerator. We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Accra and I wish I was still there. It is a wonderful 3 star hotel - not posh, but very comfortable. The room was a good size with a king size bed and they brought in a twin bed for our 16 year old son. The air conditioning worked well but the remote control was a bit tricky (no instructions provided) - we ended up just setting the temp. and letting it run 24/7. For the price, this hotel is not worth the money. The hotel needs to be updated, the room was not clean, and the beach is very small. And don't go to the resturants if you want to be waited on!

I would say this hotel is fairly good, defiantly good value for money. Obviously the hotels on the West Coast are more luxurious however also double the price, so yes if you have plenty of money then do stay there!!. The Accra, for the money is good defiantly one of the best you will find on the South Coast. The grounds are nice, its spacious, the cocktails and drinks are not that expensive - defiantly worth a visit. As a repeat visior to Accra Beach we thought we knew what to expect - how wrong. The service has gone down hill. The staff and their customer service appears complacent. During our stay we only had hot water twice - despite daily complaints even to the manager. The staff only appeared interested in tips and sorting out their receipts. The New Years Eve gala dinner changed menu and price (ever increasing) three times, resulting in a buffet affair - many people went elsewhere. My stay at Accra Beach Hotel was a short one because management woke up one morning and decided to cancel all specials and room discounts for the weekend. I had only made my reservation the day before and the staff assured me an ocean view room at an attractive and affordible rate. I therefore curtailed any effort to secure alternative arrangements when I decided to book with this hotel. The Accra Hotel in Barbados definitely had a lot of things going for it - it was spacious and had a nice decor, it was right on the beach, and the attendants at the pool and on the beach provided great service and were extremely polite. I went there on spring break with three of my girlfriends and for the record, we were never rowdy or disruptful, as most people tend to be on spring break.
