Short but...well...The one bad thing in Icmeler has to be the Alinda Hotel, NO WAY is it a 3 Star. Room 104, had laminate flooring that was split and broken, a veranda that was always wet from leaky water pipe so we could hardly use and after asking for it to be fixed,... more

just dont book thi s hotel
classed as all inclusive a joke spent most days on beach as sun disappeared mid day there were 3 tables 12 chairs so most of the time no were to sit and relax and have a drink no choice in drinks rooms were ok would never go to this hotel again but icmeler is a brill place with great people
Loved Icemeler,Hated Alinda
We booked our holiday via the teletext with Global Travel Group about 6 weeks before departure. We checked Hotel Alinda out on the internet and it seemed OK.Not till later did we find it totally misleading. Our holiday for myself and friend cost £476 each for two weeks all inclusive. We departed 24th Sept 2007 and returned October 8th 2007. We found Icemeler a marvellous place, plenty to do and the weather was brilliant throughout our stay. Hotel Alinda was the complete opposite!! Absolutey dreadful!! The worst Hotel I have ever stayed . The room was OK at first ,towels and linen changed every two days ,the room swept and tidied and then we spotted the cockroaches !! Result fumigation people called in -just what you need on holiday!! The restaurant was a joke! No cereals for breakfast! Same repetitious meals every day, boiled eggs, slipper tinned sausages chips with everything ,'gypsy toast ' every morning so that eventually we just did'nt bother and ate out everyday. The pool area was rubbish no pool attendant,no safety flooring and by mid-day the sun had disappeared behind the hotel so sunbathing could not be done after mid-day.There were approx 100 people staying at the Hotel and around the Pool area were 20 sun bed,3 tables and at one point 7 chairs (all in a serious state of disrepair) .This meant that at busy periods like just before mealtime there was nowhere to sit. The Pool Bar was a disgrace, plastic glasses rinsed and not washed properly. The only drinks available were Gin,Vodka,Raki, watered down wine ( everything was watered down, wine soup, fruit juices etc) juices, tea and coffee. No snacks not even Ice Cream!! There was no entertainment all fortnight whatsoever! The staff were typically sullen, rude and only seemed interested in ogling the ladies. I will go to Icemeler again but never to Alinda Hotel. It was a complete disgrace not even worth 1 star never mind the 3* plus it is advertised as. I STRONGLY ADVISE ANY BONE FIDE TRAVEL OUTFITS TO DROP THIS HOTEL WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. Regards Tony Atkinson
Dont book this hotel
My partner and I booked a two week stay in the ALINDA hotel. I have travelled widely in the last five years and I have never stayed in a dreadfull hotel like this one. The food was inedible , the staff were rude and I can only describe it as fawlty towers. There was mould growing on the bathroom ceiling and everytime we showered the shower tray filled up and flooded the bathroom floor, its like an accident waiting to happen. The bathroom taps were extremely hard to turn on or off (thats if you could get them to work at all) and even my partner had trouble trying to turn them off. All I can say is, Dont go to this hotel.
Icemeler was gorgeous, Alinda was awful
We booked this throught Teletext on the Internet about three months in advance for our honeymoon and although a bargain, we still had certain expectations in relation to the food, drink and accomodation on offer. Icmeler was beautiful, lots of quirky little restaurants and shops to entertain us for the two weeks that we were there. The hotel however was a totally different story. After checking in and briefly seeing the room we ran up for breakfast only to find a dry and chewy ham omlette and thoroughly deep fat fried french bread pieces. Disgusting, like biting into a block of melting lard - so greasy. We found that this did not improve at all throughout the entire stay at the Alinda. Half the time we couldnt even work out was was actually on offer for dinner, the choice was always - rice, some sort of potato, a vegetable (we think) and a main. There was not really a choice of main, it was that or salad or soup and that was that. Many a night we saw what was on offer and decided that we didnt want to chance it and went elsewhere for food. When we did try it (aboout 7 times we tried the dinner so we really did try to eat it!) we talked about what we thought it was and only once did we actually say that we enjoyed it - chicken in a nice sort of white sauce (and salad!). Could do with a notice to say what the dish is so that people know what they are eating! The shower curtain in our bathroom did not go round the entire shower area so the water went everywhere after we showered and i slipped over on the water on the floor when getting out and bruised both of my knees, no shorts or skirts for me for a few days, very painful also. The room also had what we are sure was blood on the walls and on a pillow case and was generally very dirty and dusty. We changed rooms on our second day and this room was a lot nicer and somewhat cleaner although still very dusty. Cable TV means that you can watch CNN news and thats that. The mini fridge in the room is also filthy and very smelly - dont recommend using it. Oh dear, what next? As mentioned in previous reviews, the swimming pool was tiny and next to a main road, very small glass wall seperating it from the road so also quite noisy at times but this was compensated by the fact that it was only a 30 second walk to the beach which was lovely - worth paying the 2.50 lira for a sunbed for the whole day by the beach. Please dont let this put you off going to Icemeler, the town is stunning, gorgeous and the poeple were fantastic so amazingly lovely and helpful, I cannot fault them. The bars attached to the Alinda were superb, hats off to all the staff at Havana and Amalia, although the bar at the hotel is free, the choice is extremely limited and a beer is so cheap at the local bars that its worth going out for the entertainment and music alone (large beer about 3.50 Ytl - bout £1.35 / £1.45 it worked out we reckoned!) Its such a shame that this hotel couldnt live up to even the basic expected holiday standards as it has a lot of potential to be very very good. I would definately go back to Icemeler but would also defiantely pay the bit extra and go to a better hotel in the area.
great time
we paid £600 for a week for 2 adults although not the ritz was nice enough...i think evryone staying at the alinda was ai but i wouldnt eat there but we went with the intention of eating out every night anyway and every where was so cheap so didnt bother us. Had a brill room it was huge ..pool is in shade after 12 but hotels everywhere you can use and beach was brill!! icmeler was amazing and we will be going back wouldt go to the alinda agin but for a £600 holiday we was satisfied !!!!!
Icmeler Great, Alinda Terrible, What a Con
Icmeler is a lovely place and the people are very friendly. Unfortunately the Alinda Hotel is terrible. The food is unedible and tastes like hospital food. It is also the same every other day. There are around 15 beds around a pool which sits on the roadside and is in the shade after 11am. Considering this is a hotel with 5 floors, it is inadequate. If you want a drink beside the pool you will have to stand as there are only 3 tables to sit at, again inadequate. The bar serves beer, vodka, diluted orange or water inbetween meals and nothing else. If you are going all inclusive which I think everyone here does then you better eat well at breakfast and lunch otherwise you will starve. Our holiday was not totally ruined though, luckily Icmeler is a lovely place, the people are so friendly and funny and the scenery is great. The streets are also very well kept unlike some resorts. Save your money and book another hotel in Icmeler, you will only end up eating out like we and many others did.
love icmeler hate the alinda
Don't go we unfortunately booked all inclusive, the food was inedible,we have stayed in Icmeler many times, we love Turkish food but not at the Alinda The staff were very rude and completely uninterested in anyone but the young russian girls We could not keep our room on for the last day , even though earlier in the week we were told we could and were charged £10 to use a room for a shower for 10mins total rip off The hotel only has 1 bar a small pool bar which does not have seats only sun beds to sit on day or night the beer was watered down and they just kept running out of everything The bathroom was mouldy The only reason we booked this hotel was the central location and could have stayed elsewhere a lot cheaper I highly recommend Icmeler but not the Alinda
Definitely worth the money
Booked this holiday through teletext. 2 adults and 1 child for 1 week all inclusive £550,which i thought was brilliant. With this i wasn't expecting anything spectacular. The food wasn't amazing but certainly wasn't bad (we all ate everything and my child is only 2). There is no-where near enough sunbeds for people staying there but you just have to get up a bit earlier which is what a holiday is all about. If you don't enjoy the food, to eat out is very cheap. All the staff in the hotel were brilliant always smiling and for the amount of hours they worked, never heard a complaint. I didn't have 1 complaint, looking at booking this hotel again next year. The bar next door was brilliant, full of characters. Overall had an amazing time. Gutted we didn't book longer when we were leaving. Wasn't the Ritz but for the money i would deffo go back there again. Kev, Joanne an Chloe
Not great
On arriving at the hotel I was surprised that for a place of it's size it only had maybe 20 sun loungers around what is quite a large pool. I began to wonder as time went on whether this was to limit the amount of people who'd be around all day drinking the all inclusive booze. The choice was very limited also, if you don't like lager, gin, vodka or raki then your snookered. We were told when booking that snacks were available throught the day but this turned out to be false, the only food available was at meal times & even then it wasn't up to much. I'd hate to have been there with a family as there was no childrens menu whatsoever & what was available was not great unless you like salad's which were plentiful. The rooms were clean & bright & the beds were turned down & fresh towels given on a daily basis so I can't fault that, also very trustworthy staff as our safe didn't work so there was often cash & valuables left lying, all of which was there on our return. The beach is also only a stone's throw away & looks out over a beautiful bay. Overall I'd say this hotel would be perfect on a room only basis as the bars and resturants are plentiful enough & all serve great food. We spent a lot of our time in the Havana bar next door where Zaza, Leon, Tehman & the amazing Ozzy kept us entertained, I'd go back to Icmeler just to see those characters again !
Location location location
I booked this all-inclusive holiday 10 days prior to departure with Chapa travel after getting their details off teletext website. To give you an idea we paid £300 each for a week including flights transfers in-flight meals etc. Which we thought was good value as travelling in peak season (August Bank Holiday). I had a look at the hotel on various websites (mainly Chapa’s) beforehand and so sort of knew what to expect. Plus we already knew the resort was lovely. My husband was quite shocked on arrival. I don’t wish the hotel to sound bad but it does look a little like Russian Hotel in that it looks like it dated from the 70’s and had had a cheap redecorate. Upon arrival we were allocated to our room (113). This did not have any air con but the porter advised us that a room would be available for us the following day. As we had arrived at about 7pm we thought we could manage for one night. The rooms are decorated to a standard level and I would rate them at around a 3*+ for Turkish/Greek hotels (as apposed to a 2* if you’re used to going anywhere else). The rooms have a TV (with English/French/Turkish/Russian/German channels), a fridge (FOC), a balcony, a dressing table and wardrobes with a medium sized bathroom/wetroom (with shower). Towels are also provided. The following day as promised we were moved to a room on the 3rd floor that had air con (included in the price) and a safe (about 3 million lira a day which is about £1.50 per day). Lovely views of the mountains and you could just about see the beach through the hotel opposite. Now for the food. Meal times are 7.30-9.30am 12.30-2.30pm & 7.30-9.30pm. During these hours you can eat as much as you want. Breakfast was a variety of cereals, breads, cold meats, cheeses, tomatoes, and on the hot side tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs and either scrambled eggs or omelettes (both very nice). Tea and coffee were also available at breakfast. We did find the salads at Lunch and Dinner to be a little repetitive but there was plenty of variety within them – about 20 different dishes in the evening and about 10 at lunch time (I think the best way is not to try everything at once!). There was always bread (seemed to be fresh mon-sat) a different soup available (again nice) and a different hot meal at both lunch and dinner. Usually the hot meals were a choice of some sort of potato or fries, pasta or rice, a meat dish and a veg dish. There were desserts usually a cold custard type dish or crème caramel. If you want a cake get there early and get one before you sit down to eat! There was also wine and beer available during meal times and water and fruit juice. The drinks: These are only available at the pool bar and this is the Alindas downfall as it does not have adequate seating in this area. You have to use the sun lounges – although I personally find them more comfortable than plastic table and chairs, which is a good job as there is only one set! You can get Pilsner beer, Vodka, Gin and Raki available from 11-11 (I believe) and also soft drinks (coke lemonade orangeade tonic water) and coffee. Cold water and juices are available here anytime (serve yourself dispensers). Personally I don’t think that the Alinda is a bad little hotel. The staff are friendly (especially the smiling barman) It has a pool (which admittedly is in the shade come lunchtime). The rooms and reception area are nicely decorated. Rooms are cleaned daily. It is in an excellent position – very close to the beach and so can nip back for lunch! It is near to the new marina and dolmus (bus) station and also has a very nice restaurant next door if you fancy a change - Amalias - £7 for 4 big courses! Plus 2 4 1 on cocktails and a big screen TV (if that’s something you’re after). If you turn right out the hotel and then right again you will come to a turkish bath place (didn’t find it till the last day!) It depends what you are expecting for your money. As we had been to Turkey/Greece before we knew what to expect and in conclusion I would say it was slightly better than average and good value for money especially if you can get it as a last minute booking.
