Stella Maris Resort Club Hotel

I spent three nights at Stella Maris while I was purchasing property in the resort estate, and I was more than pleased with everything. The resort owner, Joerg, is such a friendly, personable guy, and his daughter Jill was very helpful with my real estate purchase. This resort is truly a special place. A true refuge from the world. We are two families, including two young children and a teenager. We decided to holiday together somewhere warm and low-key. Stella Maris fit the bill. We got Rainbow House, which is a 3-bedroom with a private saltwater infinity pool. The photo in the brochure with the gazebo and pool overlooking the Atlantic was ours! We stayed at Stella Maris in August, 2005 and the resort is beautifully located overlooking the Atlantic side of the ocean. It is very clean and pretty, and the staff very friendly. The owners made it a point to stop at each table at every meal and exchange a few kind words, and also to let us know what activities would be offered the following day. I have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Stella Maris, Long Island. The hotel is wonderful, everyone is friendly, and as a solo-traveller, I couldn’t have hoped to meet such a bunch of cool people. The island, for those who don't know, is sparsely populated, with only around 3-4000 residents on the whole 80-mile length. If you travel around the island to the North or South, the island (for a brit abroad anyway) seems almost deserted, with homes found only really on or near the Queen's Highway, the one tarmacked road running... more

I have travelled to Stella Maris 5 times over the past 10 years and the island is absolutely one of the most beautiful in the Bahamas. The people at Stella Maris are very friendly and the atmosphere is extremely relaxing. I have always loved Long Island and recently, I purchased property on the island for my future retirement spot. If you are looking for a relaxing trip where you set your own pace, then this is where you want to go.

traveled to stella maris in october 2002 with my wife. nice location overlooking the atlantic exept for one of the original apartment buildings blocking the view. we were assigned to one of the rooms near the reception area and were very dissapointed - rooms need major updating. when we complained, peter was nice enough to move us to the 4 bdrm house overlooking the atlantic at no extra charge - WHAT A VIEW! house had a private patio overlooking the ocean with a staiway going down to your own private ocean which was dredged out of the... more

eight of us went for a family Thanksgiving vacation, from grandman down to the 21 month old baby. we had been there in 1969 and 1972 and bought property there. stella maris is still lovely and unspoiled. the same hosts that were there for us before, peter and jorge were so gracious and helpful. grandma had here own motel room, and each couple with their children had a seperate cottage with one bedroom and sleep couches in the living roiom. there was a small refridgerator, air conditioner ( we didn't need it as there was a delightful breeze... more

My wife and I wanted to spend a January week somewhere warm and peaceful, but with potential for some adventure.
