Don’t go!! Worst holiday ever. Food was disgusting. You couldn’t swim in the sea because it was full of jelly fish (yes we have the sting marks to prove it!!). The men harassed you all the time, especially at the medinas. You didn’t feel safe at night and certainly... more

nice and peacefull starf all ok
this hotel is ok its right on the sea problem its right in the middle of the to main shopping centers but we had a very good time will go again have a good time.
great time
well what can i say apart from what a great time we had. after booking the holiday online i went to the hotel web site and read the reviews of other guests and was a little concerned but we went and it was great. the hotel was very clean and all the staff were very friendly, the food was great and plenty of it. The hotel shop was a little dear so i suggest you use the shop across the road. Being low season there were not people there staying and there was not much entertainment but what entertainment we had was good. Hotel is situated in an ideal place, right on the beach and not far from Sousse centre which I would recommend you take a taki ride too and visit the Medina but be prepared to haggle. The only slight problem we had was that as the sea and outside pool were too cold to use we went to use the indoor pool and it was out of action for a couple of days but after the rep having a few words with the management it was put right and as a good will jester we were given a free turkish bath and full body massage which i can highly recommend. This was our first visit to Tunisia and we were very pleased and cant wait to book again for the middle of the year.

not suitable for young families
Hi, this review is really to advise parents traveling with young children. My children ages are 7yrs, 2yrs, and 4mths. when we arrived and was shown to our room it was clean and tidy but the cot for my baby was broken. we reported it straight away and sure enough some one came to fix it but kept falling apart as it was very old. I ended up with both young kids in bed with us for fortnight. Theres no air con in rooms as they switch it off after sept and it was extremely hot at nights. food was a joke as breakfast was roast potatos and mixed veg, food not suitable for kids, they tell you dreams beach is a family hotel, theres nothing in hotel for kids, no kiddie corner there is a kiddes pool but its up 4 flights of stairs and carrying a double buggy up there every day was tiring. The pool was icey cold too cold for my baby. also theres no stair gate to prevent small kids falling down stairs. The beach was okay once. you got past the fag butts, but you was hasseled constantly by the locals to buy things and trying to shove peanuts in the kids mouth so you would buy. By this stage i was getting fed up so we climbed up the 4 flights of stairs get some peace. also the travel agents forget to tell you that october is ramadan for the tunisans and mostly everything is shut all day. The paths outside the hotel is terrible not buggy friendly at all very high kerbs narrow and broken pavement trees planted in middle of pavement forcing you onto to road and thats dangerous as the tunisan taxi drivers are maniacs on the road one wee lad was knocked down outside the hotel by a taxi driver speeding to get customers. we as a family wont be back.
no problems
just spent 2 weeks here, read the reviews prior to going but was not put off by some of the bad comments. the hotel, staff, rooms, service and views were excellent, the beech was clean, transport to other parts of tunisia were plentiful. we loved it. me the wife 13 and 14 year old daughters( who cried all the way back to the airport).we are now in the process of re booking for 2007 YOUR HOLIDAY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!
unsure
Went with an open mind, every body has different tastes. After 14 days at Dreams Beach we found the hotel to be basic but clean and tidy, the staff were vrey friendly toward me and my wife, they enjoyed having a laugh with us.The only trouble is the food, which is the same thing over and over again,Mashed potato & salad for breakfast or eggs. The cafe's are the same.£2.00 gets you a taxi to Port el Kantoui which is worth more than one visit to either the harbour or for a nice meal on a night out to the Mediterranee, not the cheapest but the nicest fillet of beef i have ever tasted.Sousse Madina not to the wifes taste.
Ok but could improve
After we had booked discovered the reviews, initialy was a liitle concerned but arrived with an open mind. initial thoughts, afetr arriving at 5.30am clean and reception staff helpful. Room was clean and no more than we would have expected for the grade/price we paid. Breakfast was good, with a good choice of things to have and lots of it, being a buffet we like a lot of others, had more than enough. spent first day on Hotels section of beach, the beach as a whole is used by a lot of locals, please do not be put of had absolutely no problems with this, police and life guards are in attendance all day. pool area acceptable, however a little bit tight for space, and very hot so spent most of holiday on beach. evening meals again buffet affair, quantity very good, however needed a bit more variation and quality. the meals at the start of week were ok but by the end of week seemed very bland and needed spicing up in our opinion. The hotel tries very hard to entertain, but this is limited, the Brits seem more catered for than the other National that are staying there. Overall hotel acceptable, not alot to do in evenings within walking distance or in hotel in general, Staff very helpful and friendly, food do not expect too much, Rooms cleaned every day and ok for size. Would not go back, for no other reason that need a liitle more night life nearby, but if this is not your bag, then this hotel would offer adequate surroundings
Clean and pleasant place
Went to Dreams Beach for a week at the end of June 2006. Hotel itself was clean and staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms had the basics and were clean. Lots of English people stay here- i've had bad experiences in the past in hotels catering for mainly French/Germans so this was fine. The bar on the top floor is beautiful and has an intimate atmosphere. Although it was fairly empty most nights they let us put on our own cds and drinks were reasonably priced (£1 bottle of beer, £2 spirit and mixer, £3.50-5 cocktails). If you're staying on the 5th floor (i.e. below the bar), it can get a bit noisy but we were out till after it shut most nights anyway. Evening entertainment was limited but included bingo, kareoke evening, belly dancing and 2 folklore shows. Our holiday was half-board. Food was average buffet style, a bit bland for my tastebuds though and by the end of the week, I was fed up with it. For dinner, they give you a choice of about 5 salads, bread, soup and 5/6 hot dishes including rice, pasta, chips, boiled potatoes alongside meat/veg stews and other meat dishes. If you're vegetarian, I think you'd get bored very quickly. For desert, there was fresh fruit and pastries. The restaurant food at lunch which you pay for was really nice and relatively cheap- about £6/7 including soft drinks and free nibbles while your food is cooked. There were also plenty of cheap but tasty paces to eat nearby, so at least you could get some variety that way. If you want to buy bottled water and soft drinks or any snacks, I recommend going to the shops down the road from the hotel because they are a lot cheaper. Hotel charged about 75p for a 2 litre bottle of water, wheras the shop across the road only charged 25p. If you want a coffee, tea or to smoke a shisha in the evening, you're also better off walking 20 yards down the road to the local coffee shops as they are cheaper and have more variety. The beach was very clean and a right next to the hotel. Locals use the beach too, so it gets really busy. They charged 50p for 2 sunbeds and 50p if you wanted leather mats on the chairs. The outdoor pool was fairly small but clean. They didnt charge for sunbeds but did for leather mats. The main gripe I had was that my adaptors didnt fit the plugs as they weren't the standard 2-prong ones. We asked reception for an adaptor, but that was no good either so we couldnt use any of the electrical appliances we bought with us. Although they sold AA and AAA batteries, other sizes were very hard to get hold of if you needed more than 1 or 2. We had a portable stereo and since the plug adapters didnt work, we spent the whole week searching for 8 C size batteries to no avail. Port el-Kantanoui and Sousse town centre are about 5-10min drive away by taxi, which costs about £1-2 and there are loads of nice restaurants there as well as shops and markets. In Sousse, there's a lively nightlife and Living is one of the major nightclubs (house, dance) with Bananas bar inside (rnb, hip hop, salsa, funky house). They were free to get in but alcohol was pricey (£7/8 for a double spirit and mixer, £80 bottle of vodka/brandy). Across the road from Living was a Saloon restaurant/bar which had a Western/cowboy theme. Food there was a little pricey for Tunisia but portions were huge and it tasted great. They had a bar/nightclub there too but we didnt stay for that. In Port el-Kantanoui, the shops stayed open till just after midnight and there were lots of cafes and restaurants there too, perfect for wandering around in the evening. There was also a small botanical/animal zoo there where you can feed the camels and some other animals- great for kids. There was also a small theme park there but it was shut for repairs while we were there. When shopping, remember to haggle! There were a few fixed price shops but in most, haggling was expected. Don't take flattery seriously as they do this to everyone and make sure you drive a hard bargain. There are plenty of good quality knock-off designerwear and handbags. All in all, it was a good holiday and I would recommend it to others. Do not expect 5 star service because it isn't a 5 star hotel, but it is a pleasant and clean place to stay, with lots to do nearby.
Some bits
Hotel looks fine from the outside no building work around Rooms clean we were unfortunate to be at the front of the building 5 ft from the pool and on top of the lower bar so as nice as it was it was like being in a goldfish bowl in the day and a club at night although when we went into the bar there was only two people in it , but not all rooms are like that but would suggest if you can when you book avoid the ground floor or the top as they are above and below bars respectively not all the rooms have sea views and the ones at the side that have a balcony have you next rooms window opening on to it which is fine for some but not much privacy We also asked too be moved wish after two days and much staff amusement they did to a room with an air conditioning outside as we moved the cleaners said “are you moving” implying a lot of people move from these rooms Food was fair but would suggest that you do not go full board as eating out is cheap and the hotel food is very the same breakfast eggs, luncheon meat, shredded carrot, cucumber, cereal, potatoes fried roasted boiled and normal salads bread cakes, tea, coffee, fruit squash lunch same but with cuss cuss pepper tomatoes onion fried/oven roasted sort of Ratatouille different meat evening same again A taxi to sousse is about 2-3 dinar and there are nice restaurants within walking distance on the main road to Port el Kantauo no great al carte if that’s what you after but nice fresh local dishes and normal burgers ,pizzas etc for those that don’t wish to try local foods. Simple things when eating out is look at the prices most places you can get a meal for two for 10-15 dinar the way a lot of the tourist places get you is not put there prices for drinks (about 2.33 dinar to the pound) e.g. tea coffee 1 dinar canned drinks 1-2 dinar water 1 dinar fresh squeeze juice 6-8 dinar but some will charge you 8-10 dinar for your food and same for a can of coke so ask if the price is not on the menu alcohol is reasonably expensive and unless your in a hotel quite hard too find but it is a Muslim country although not the liveliest place there is something to do most nights the hotel staff are friendly and eager to help with exception of reception staff not so hot if you want tours look on the boards by the bar and entrance tour to Sahara leave on a Sunday for 2-3-4-5 days Best parts are the beach worst parts are the constant hassle from sellers
best small hotel in the area
This hotel was ideal for us as a couple. The staff were the friendliest we met ( visited larger hotels in evening, staff very snooty). My advice is try a simple word or phrase in arabic( phrasebooks in reception area)if you make a mess of it, it's still a great ice breaker and it is appreciated. There were problems, nothing major, a bug in the bathroom brought out the entire cleaning staff who killed the bug, cleaned the bathroom and sealed the hole where it got in. Our room was under the roof bar and the music went till late, but a word to reception, the music was turned down and the following day we were moved to a better room all in all the hotel was brilliant, but remember it is North Africa and even 5 star is not what you wold expect in Europe. Enjoy the adventure
