Well - belive the reviews. On arrival I was nodded at (no greeting) I asked what my room was like, the receptionist, older white blonde female, said "I like this room it has a sea view" So cool- everything was "ok" albeit a tad "off" After zigzagging through the 2nd floor... more

Not as bad as everyone keeps saying!
My fiance and I have just got back from Gran Canaria, where we stayed at the Corona Roja for a week. Our room was on the ground floor and we saw 3 cockroaches in our room and quite a few outside. Someone in a room above us decided to urinate onto our balcony, but this was very quickly cleaned up by the cleaners. The cleaners cleaned our room near enough everyday and always left clean towels etc. The indoor pool was definitely not heated but it soon warmed up once you were in it. Overall, we were happy with our stay at Corona Roja. We didn't pay alot for our holiday and YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Give it a miss
Just got back. Not a good hotel at all. Do not contemplate going to this hotel if you are over 25. Very noisy. We may have been unlucky but our stay was almost ruined by very, very noisy groups of younger holiday makers banging and kicking the door to their rooms at 3,4, and sometimes 5 a.m. This was every night for the first 10 or so days of our stay. Complaining to reception a complete waste of time. they were simply not interested. Stayed 2 weeks and found the staff although not rude not over friendly either. Never in all of the 2 weeks did anyone in reception smile or even nod their heads in our direction. On the plus side the 2 b/room apartment was a decent size although the seating was almost unusable as it was very uncomfortable. The balcony was good, and we had maid service almost every day. Hotel is for young groups on holiday. Families and anyone wanting quiet, friendly surroundings forget it. Spoke to a couple of other families their, all had complained, and agreed the worst hotel they had ever stayed in. As I say we may have been just unlucky with the noise and that was the main complaint. we went self catering so cannot comment on the food.
worse ever hotel in G canaria
sept 2005 dirt everywhere. dark rooms too small, had to climb over the bed as there was no room to walk around it. Dirty shower and bathroom, could sit on the loo properly as it was too close to the wall. The door handle kept on coming off so we couldnt get in about 5 times, when you 'try' to tell the hotel staff they just grunt or ignore you completely, when we arrived the kitchen are was filthy, no plates or cutlery, old food everywhere as it hadnt been cleaned properly. One of the drawers was broken off completey, the waredrob door was broken. and to top it all the TV didnt work. In fact nothing worked it was (--)! 2006 we stayed at the TAMERAN and our friends stayed at LIBERTY both places were fantastic, clean plenty of room and nice staff, both very convenient if you will be going to the YUMBO at night... Need to know anything else get in touch.
Our week at coronja roja
We arrived and we were met at our door by a cockroach although this was the first and last we had seen of them all week, i was gutted when i seen the room as we were staying on the first floor and we had no balcony although we had a pool view, we had arrived during the night so all we could see was the road, although the next morning we seen the pool. The shower was small and the room was very basic, the bar staff were always grumpy and the reception wasnt to helpful when my friend got mugged. Joint to the hotel was a supermarket we found this place had everything we needed and the pool was a good size. Our room was very basic although if your not expecting anything much then this place is ideal i would have just been happy with a balcony. Its close to the irish centre and all in all i enjoyed my stay, although it would have been better if the rooms were a little more roomier and we had a balcony
Bloody awful
this hotel is a disgrace, the rooms were muck, the hotel staff ignorant. i was mugged on holiday, turned up in a terrible state and the receptionist pretended not to understand me.. they understood when we were paying our 50 euro deposit and the 10 euro when i needed another safe key because it was in my bag then the 30 euro to keep the room on for the day. i needed the police to report the mugging and they didnt want to know. probably wont get nothing back on my insurance beacuse i never got reporting it. i know what you mean about the towels and cleaning, think we got ours changed 2. we were lucky not to get cockroaches but everyone else did. there was 5 couples and 3 singles in our group and the couples got the crappiest room and the singletons had a cracker room, whats the crack there like?? just dont go there!! Well learn spanish if you are!! Grub isnt bad though! Sometimes!
Amazing
o my god the hotel was amazing and the people were really nice im going agin to the hotel very soon it was that good so no one panic about the other reviews because it is amazing
Its great!!
Me and me mate stayed for one week and for the money.. its amazin! there was nothing wrong with the 3 lifts that are available to use.. the staff are sometimes difficult as they dont all speak english, but wot do u expect rly.... on the ground floor, attached to the hotel is a supermarket with evrything u need for a self catering holiday, there is nothing wrong with the stuff inside! The rooms may be small... but you dont pay to go on a holiday to spend ur time inside a hotel room.. it has evrything you need.. all working... (well all the mates we made over there had workin stuff as well) so wasn jus our room... The maids DO always come.. even if u dont want them to haha... they jus walk in, clean and are gone.. dont hassle u, work around u.. so it isnt a problem... ther is plenty to view either on the balcony OR the walkway up to ur apartments (u will see wot i mean wen u go ther)... although there is nightlife more or less next to the hotel, u dont actuali hear any annoyin shoutin or noises going on! Finally the pool, sometimes ppl bring cd players down to the pool and put music on, but it isnt blasting out as the staff take the players off them if its disturbing.. the pool itself is fairly large, with a deep end as well.. ther is also a smaller separate pool for little kids as wel... i neva went in that tho :).. but seriously, u wont regret this hotel as value for money!! go for it!! :D
I'm Lovin it
I've read the other reviews and can i say what a load of rubbish. If you are expecting the ritz don't bother. But if you paid as little as i did, it represented exceptionally good value. Yes the decor is a bit ropey and tired, but it's typical of a young person's hotel. It is in the centre of everything and easy reach of the beach. If you are going on holiday for the hotel and the food then don't stay here, but if you are going for the nightlife and the experience of being abroad then these appartments are ideal. It was my first trip abroad staying here and i wasn't disappointed. [--]
Had an absolutely fantastic week!
My friend and I spent a fantastic week in this hotel from April 29th through to May 6th and we had no problems what so ever. One of the lifts did stop working on our very last day (whilst we were sat in the lobby waiting for our airport transfer to collect us) but with in minutes of the lift breaking down an engineer was on the case and it was being sorted. Our room was on the thirteenth floor (very high up but the view was spetacular) and was very spacious, just what we needed. The room was cleaned nearly everyday for us, I think the only days it wasn't was on a Sunday and Thursday but the booklet you get in your room from the management explains all this. Reception was open 24hours and was always manned, and they were very helpful. Especially the lady who worked on reception ( I cant remember her name, sorry) she spoke brilliant English and knew the answers to practically all the questions we thew at her. The hotel is within walking distance of all the main attractions in the area, we walked everywhere! The English and Irish sections are about a ten minute walk away and the Hard Rock Cafe (only opened around three months ago, so is brand new and is situated just outside the Yumba shopping centre) is about twenty minutes. We also did the hour trek through the Dunes to get to Faro (I should warn you though this walk is straight through a nudist beach, a real eye opener I can assure you, lol) and had luch in a very posh Italian restaurant before hitting the shops. I think we must've gone to PLaya Del Ingles at a quiet time, Playa Del Ingles got extremely busy in the evenings but we had no rowdy people waking us in the early hours of the morning, perhaps because we were way up in the sky, I dont know but nothing ever disturbed our sleep! So perhaps I should recommend going at this time of year if your up for partying but not the late nights seeing as it is still busy enough to have a good time when you go out in the evenings but is also quiet enough to have a relaxing time. One day out I would highly recommend for the whole family is 'Sioux City' a cowboy theme park. Its absolutely brilliant, with stunt shows and cabarets from the Old West, this was my favourite day of the whole holiday! It was about 2 euro 10 cents to get from Playa del Ingles to Sioux city and back again on the bus, public transport is great dont be afraid to use it!! You should also hop on the yellow bus to Mogan and go on the Yellow Submarine trip, its an experience you will never forgot. All in all we had a fantastic holday and I would not hesiate to go back again.
A Great Place
I came her on a holiday whit my family. from march 11 to 25. To weeks whit fun:) I have been to playa del ingles before and i was readdy for to weeks of party. Like i did.:) It was fun from the first foot stepp at the airport. Came to corona whit bus and was allready in party mood. The "evil circle" is the best party place ever. Much better than in Norway. The VIKING Bar and Scandicdiscopub:)Great party place. Two weeks there and i was a well know guest in the night houres:) And the receptionist at the hotel "Corona Roja" was allways happy to ses me when i came smiling whit my straw party hatt:) And the Cheers Bar 100meters from the hotel is great whit great happy hour and free Luxury Limo every monday wedensday and friday. The hotel bar has great pinacolada umbreala drinks:) The staff at the hotel are very neat and smiling. If you dont play lots of high music at night.:) The maids are smiling and making jokes when they came to clean your room. The staff is helpful whit anything. The pool area could be better thoug. The sun goes early down on the backside of the hotel. And the guest at the hotel where allways in good mood. Varying in nations and age groups. And i have to send a hug to the girl who was on holiday whit hear mother at corona roja. Who i meet at scanic disco. She was nice. :) So totaly the holiday at play del ingles in the corona roja hotel was a experience i would like to do over again. And next year am back. Maybe at corona roja. Because the hotel is great whit everything you need at short distance
