Corona Roja Apartments Reviews
Well - belive the reviews. On arrival I was nodded at (no greeting) I asked what my room was like, the receptionist, older white blonde female, said "I like this room it has a sea view" So cool- everything was "ok" albeit a tad "off" After zigzagging through the 2nd floor "God knows what the architect was thinking" I opened my room door to find no balcony, a sea view if you squinted thru the palm trees, cigarette butts on the floor, toilet so close to the wall I had use it sideways. I popped out to get some bits and bobs - on returning a change of staff was occurring, to a young blonde female, who shouted "Ola" I said hi back, to which she said" can I help you?" to which I said " so do I have to say who I am and show my key every time I come in?" To which she said "No I just like to know everyone who is staying her" to which her colleague "the older one" mumbled something. Anyway, later on I find no hot water in any of the taps , so called to reception to get the younger female saying she would have someone come look at it - 4 hours later still no luck so called again to be told- the maintenance guy must have gone home - he'll check it out tomorrow, Well wether he did or not I dont know, but th reception told me obviously everyone is using the water around the same time - ergo no hot water, try use it at a different time. Well she was right hahahahaha but that is a disgrace. Never interacted with the staff again - except the dirty look from the male receptionist one day, so I said hi to him and he just looked away. On checking out - NO thankyou, No did you enjoy your stay - No nothing. I've always stayed at Liberty apartments -different world, My advice if your choosing to saty here, the people that work there are not customer focused, but the room was bareable, I got what I paid for CHEAP.......

Booked a last minute holiday in October 2011 to Gran Canaria and decided to stay at the Corona Roja as it was good price, hotel looks lovely from the outside and is in a great location just beside the beach and the Tropical Centre, 5 minutes walk from the Irish and Kasbah centres, and 5 minutes in a taxi or bus to the markets, the bus station is located just beside the hotel also, but once inside it needs some love and attention, the rooms are a good enough size and had all the amenities but we were staying on Floor 2 and the stench was horrendous particularly everytime we walked through the corridor - we were not expecting the ritz but certainly weren't expecting the smell either. Even by the pool we could smell it. If refurbished and the smell addressed it would be a fab place to stay as it has so much potential. Staff are friendly and in particular a blonde girl in reception was fantastic.

just got back from a week in this hotel, well beleive what you read about it at first the staff where lovely but by the third day the staff looked down at you as if you were a bit of dog poo on their shoes, our studio was very big and clean cant fault that part from the doors need attention and smelt a bit musky food was repetative if you like pizza every lunch time and chips your be ok the waiter in the evening marcos very rude think he works for the sas, because he watches your every move spying from behind boxes making sure you dont drink to fast and that your only getting 1 drink for yourself you cant get a drink for your partner our mate done this once and he come flying out from behind bar like a tazmainian devil and snatched it out my wifes hand.dont laugh to much he reports your and the manager comes down and issues a 5o euro fine which you dont get back at the end of your holiday unless you behave that happened to our mates ,also no afternoon snacks so from 1pm to 2.30 thats lunch if you miss that you have to wait till six unless you want to pay for it never going back to this hotel ans as soon as you get to 12 midday your have your band cut off on day of checkout no entertainment dinning room like a school canteen i could go on all night with this one my advise to anyone thinking of going to this hotel PLEASE STAY AWAY

where do i start!! This is ment to be a 3 star hotel i would rate this as a 1 star if that!!. The eating area is like a very small cafe not a dinning area. There was nothing for my 3 children to do at night time unless you paid to go out which is wrong when you pay all inclusive!!. The rooms are very clean but so basic, I was lucky that i had a balcony but friends that travelled with us didn't. The pool had alot of cracks in the tiles and the steps into the pool were very unsafe. The staff were very rude except for Kay who is english and was very helpful with the children she is to good to be in such a dreadful hotel get out Kay you can do better!!. If you wanted a drink between 10am nd 11am forget it. The food was very nice but not much choice but if you like chips every day you are sorted!!. There is no air con but it does state this but however the rooms are so hot i had to leave the patio doors open. The hotel oppisite did all there recycling at midnihgt so all the bottles went down a shoot for 10mins which was very loud, then the bin men came at 4am! so i had very little sleep!!. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Clare Sheffield

We are just back from this hotel,we went all inclusive and thats where it all went wrong.
breakfast 8-10am
lunch 13.00-14.30pm
snack 16.00-17.00pm
dinner 18.00-21.00pm
these are the eating times and if you want anything outwith these times you are paying for it.
also drinks are only 11.00am-23.00pm
also if you want a drink you have to go up by yourself no-one is allowed to get your drink for you.
if you go for breakfast at 9am which we did the second morning we got there they had run out of hot food??
then on our last morning we went down at 8am for breakfast and what was the hot food, beans what a joke

i've just come back from a week in this hotel with my boyfriend with an all inclusive package. and can only say that i was sorely disappointed. we arrived early tuesday morning to be told that we would have to wait for our room because they hadnt prepared it yet. When we eventually got into our room after the nightmare zig zag corridors, we had no balcony, twin beds and a view of the opposite hotel's wall. despite this we tried to keep an open mind, the holiday is what you make of it of course, and we went down to the pool to check it out. the pool was lovely, very big and plenty of free sun beds.
the food was basic, no choice and cold. chips, burgers, pizza etc.
the staff seemed nice at the beginning but by the end of the holiday they became rude and seemed to look down their noses at us.
the surrounding area was beautiful and the nightlife was brilliant so we spent a lot of our time out of the hotel.
all in all, we enjoyed the holiday but the hotel was a definate 2*.. not a 3*.
- Advice: spend as much time out of the hotel as possible.

we have just returned from the corona roja hotel, we stayed all inclusive for 2 weeks, the first week and a half were lovely, hotel room great and lots of space in the rooms, cleaned every day, staff friendly to us apart from one lady, the deputy manageress, who was rude and had an attidude. the food was nice but the lunch menu was repetative, but great for kids as they like burger, chips, spag bol and pizza the breakfasts were always nice and evening meal good too. Ice cream was free for all from 10.30am-9pm. Nice pool areas and kids play area
During our second week the manager decided to change some things, like eating out on the terrace - this was no longer allowed, who wants to eat in a room at 50 degrees with no air con, also due to people taking liberties the drinks were only allocated one drink for one person, so you had to go to the bar individually to get your drinks. We all had a super time here but was spoilt in the 2nd week by the new rules, there are only 3 tables allowed outside on the terrace and if you dont have a chair then you sit on the floor like i had to. This hotel has 15 floors and approx 700 rooms so 3 tables is not enough.
I would definately go back to playa del ingles but i would definately choose a different hotel.

If your a group of young people looking for a great holiday here then think again. My friends and I have recently returned from the Island after a week, and we were originally booked to stay at the corona roja, however the day we arrived we were told when checking in that the hotel had problems with the water supply! They then said to us that they had booked us an over night stay at a local hotel called Hotel Green Field, while they attended to these problems. So we went to green field, which isnt the most luxury hotel but its clean and friendly also the food is alot better than i expected.
so, in the end we decided amoungst us that we should refuse to go back to the corona roja because how could we be certain that the water was clean? and we hadnt even seen the rooms. So we went to the corona roja and made this known to them, until we came to an agreement that we stay at green field but only if we all pay an extra of 48Euro, which at the time was a god send because we just wanted to start our holiday! but now thinking back we shouldnt have had to pay.
So please think about this hotel carefully because its not a nice experience if youve just arrived and you miss out on a day or two sorting out their mess.

fab holiday. apartments cleaned every second day. view from apartments was fab.not suitable for kids as its noisy at night. didn't eat in hotel so i can't rate it.2 mins walk to a lovely beach. walk from there along the coastline to maspalomas. night life was very good.whatever you want is there whether your 16 r 100. for trips I recommend the camel ride the liberty boat trip and an absolute must is the palmitos park it is out of this world.visit cheers for a nice cold beer and something to eat at the end of your evenin.wonderful place.

after reading about this hotel i was i really worried i had booked something resembling glastonbury even though i booked through low cost holidays at a £200 for a week. on arriaval i was pleasantly surprised the hotel was spotless, room was basic but had all you need and the staff were very helpful . food was great and i could not think of a single down point. the room was cleaned every other day they even washed up !! so all you people moaning about it - its not 5 star !!!there is even a shop down at reception for those essential munchies and a bottle of something.
- Advice: its 2 euros to the main hub yumbo centre and the taxis are only three mins walk away
