Hotel Description:

These ideally situated studios and apartments offer great value for money and are popular with the young and lively crowd, therefore we wouldn't recommend them for families with young children or older couples. About 500m to the Aguila Roja and just over 1km to the Kasbah Commercial Centre. There's a small beach nearby and the entrance to the main beach is just over 1km away.

" good, but hungry food horrible "

We have just retured from our stay at the corona roja, after reading other reviews I was prepared for anything,(wrong) For the amount we paid for all- inclusive was a rip off, The appts was clean but so small, 2 people could not fit in the bathroom at once unless you stood in the bath, very very basic, the pool which was never used was a disgrace, broken tiles in the bottom and around edges, but the complex was good and the staff brilliant, but worse of all was the food, unless you were'nt from GB. stews, fish, pasta, all in either gravy, sauce, or some other kind of liquid, (gross), I had severe weight loss, due to not being able to eat most dishes, and you can'nt get anything else, unless you pay again, also food not hot,or crispy kept to long under heat plates, brilliant for self-catering, menu different and cooked to order. icecream to a minimal(bowl only) no ices to take away,or any other food, not even to own room. THANK GOD the weather made up for it. not recommended for all-inclusive ever. but had great time, and met lovely friends. Beach and shopping great.

Advice: yes, beaches and shops fantastic

Activities: Mogan, and Porta rico was great, El toro for steak, and Bambino for all english meals,

Good for: City Breaks

" Basic but clean "

We drew up to what seemed to be a tower block at about half 12 at night and our rep Lily made a joke of how the 'o' of Roja wasn't lit up! First impressions of the building weren't great. Check in was quick & straight forward, we headed to our room as soon as we got our key. Second floor - YUCK! The coridor was horrible & our room consisted of two beds pushed together, a fridge and a toilet. I opened the curtains to a window and wasn't best pleased! We complained right away as our travel agent said we would have a balcony. After one night in that room we headed to the welcome meeting and we were moved soon after to the 10th floor which was sooooo much better! Seperate bedroom & a balcony with an excellent view. Everything was very basic but also very clean. The maids were in nearly everyday and our towels & sheets were changed regularly. You also have to pay for everything, even the TV is a euro for an hour! We didn't feel we needed the air conditioning and only hired a fan for the week aswell as an iron.
The reps were brilliant, helped everyone we met that needed something done and didn't pester you to go on the 18-30 trips. My boyfriend & I joined the We Love Tuesdays evening for 45euros with a 3 hour free bar which was an excellent night out !
The pool was great aswell, everyone was very relaxed and friendly! The pool bar was pretty good value for money & their food was great!
Overall, Playa del Ingles is a great resort ! We met loads of people who all seemed to have an excellent wee cheeky week away in the sun !

" great holiday "

I honestly cannot see what a lot of people are moaning about! I stayed in the corona roja in July this years with a group of 8 girls! We had a great time! After reading most of the reviews we were expecting a bombsite! To our suprise the rooms were very spacious, clean and had pretty new facilities, now it wasn't 5* quality but for the price people are paying you cant complain. We had two two bedroom apartments and although being disapointed that we were not on the same floor we didnt find it a problem as the three lifts were always working! Absolutly fabulous view off the balcony looking all over playa del ingles and onto the beach and sea. The pool wasnt the nicest, but it did the job, and we were more than happy to sit in the kids pool as it was quite realaxing. I wouldnt recommend this as a family hotel but for young lively people this hotel is great, yes there is noise at night but to be honest we were out until half 5/6 every night so we never noticed it (it may have been us making it :) ) Hotel staff were always very helpful as we smelt gas once and they were straight up to our room, and the same when we had problems with the safe! the rooms had no air conditioning, but were always cool and we were never too hot! Maids came every day and changed the towels every other day! to all the people that have moaned about the hotel, i think they should lower their expectations for the price they paid! We had a brilliant Holiday here and would go back again!
be careful though the hotel will charge you if anything happens!
oh and make sure you eat on the beach front, its a big restaurant on the shopping centre with a guy singing with his guitar (cant remember what it's called), absolutly beautiful food! Lovely waitors, they love big groups and will give discount and somtimes free sangria to! We found this on our third night and ate there every night after because we loved it so much!

Advice: Great nightlife

Activities: the restaurant on the beachfront

"  Honest Review "

Arrived on Monday 20th July to stay at the Corona Roja hotel club 1830's, the coach from the airport took about 25 mins.
> Upon arrival of the hotel they were speedy gettin us to the room quickly.
Room was basic as we expected 2 single beds, no air con, shower, fridge, stove, and a balcony.
There was a TV BUT you had to pay for by the minute, it cost 1 euro per 60 mins.
so I will list the good things about the hotel to help speed this up!
Good things
1. Speedy to get you in the room.
2. Food was nice and cheap from within the hotel.
3. Pool area was ok a bit grotty in places.
Bad thing!!!! where oh where should i start!!!!
1st club 1830's reps were the worst Reps I have ever come across! unenthusiastic not bothered and the blokes were just trying to perve on any new women who arrive.
2nd Hotel staff!!!! 101% worst staff people i have ever ever come across. 1 night at 11 o'clock me and my girl went to go out we entered the lift where two other people were in. The lift stopped it was 35 degrees outside so you can imagine how hot it was inside the lift where there was no aircon. We rang the bell for assistance eventually the receptionist arrived. At this point we were all boiling hot stripping down ready to pass out. we managed to open the doors slightly so we could get some air in. we then saw the receptionist who told s not to open the doors, he then told s that the fire brigade had been called and they will be about 20 minutes. at this point we were overly warm and sweaty madly. We asked the receptionist for some water in which he replied NO!!!!!! luckily some Irish people came to our rescue and gave us some water in which the receptionist did not like!! 20 minutes had past and no fire brigade he lied to us and called the manager! who did eventually open the lift but if he had not been able to we would have needed the fire brigade.
3rd The maids or so they are called, firstly my partner can speak Spanish so this made things easier to communicate, the maids do not work Thursdays or Sundays.
They will only change bedding once every 8 days!!!!!!
They will only change your towel and face towel once every three days.
Upon our departure we had until 12 o'clock to vacate the room at 11 o'clock i was getting ready, so i was naked, we had a ring at the door and my girl answered the door sayining to the maid we were not ready she completely understood and then barged past her into the room, she then ran over to the beds stripped them off and claimed there was a small make up mark on the bed another maid came storming in behind her and rang reception.
I answered the phone and the receptionist was highly aggressive stating we must have to pay 100 EUROS or they are calling the police. They were talking rubbish absolutely rubbish this so called mark (which we had not done) was probably there since the first day the apartment opened.
We then went to reception to check out and nothing was mentioned!!!.
So my recommendation is pay the extra for a decent hotel and avoid these horrible people!!!! absolutely money robbing unhelpful people.
ANY ONE WHO GOES TO PLAYA DEL INGLES PLEASE VISIT MOLLY MALONES IRISH BAR THEY ARE GENUINE NICE PEOPLE WHO VALUE YOUR CUSTOM AND THE STAFF ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

Advice: Great place lively entertainment enjoyable but you need to have a respectable hotel to stay.

Activities: Molly Malones Irish Bar , the Beach,

" great except for reps! "

the hotel would not be suitable if you are planing to go away with young children, however if you are planing a shopping and partying weeek then its perfect. its a 5 minute walk from the main beach, there are shops and resturants from staight outside the hotel going on for at least a good mile. my only complaint would be that the swimming pool turns your swimsuit green if your in the water for more than half an hour because of the chemicals they use. there were a few cockroaches but mainly outside we only got one in our room which we got rid of fairly quickly. there are plenty of good shopping centres around if you go out far enough. if you want any help to find anywhere and your reps are nowhere to be seen (much likie ours were) go to cheers, buy a drink or food(its quite cheap), and they will help you find anywhere you want to go. they even have limo rides. overall it was a good holiday, although it would have been better if we didnt go with 18-30's!!!!!!1

" Never again "

their blog says "fully equipped kitchenette"-----no kettle-go and hire one.
no plugs for sinks--nobody wants to know.
no cleaning equipment for so called kitchenette.
other than this the accomadaqtion was clean and tidy with reasonable maid service.

meals were arranged around non-English---- bacon-one day,,sausages-one day,, eggs-one day,,
never together on the same day.
cheap and not so cheerful for the English---super for Spanish, German or Scandinavian.
bedrooms tidy and clean.....;.will NOT go back

Advice: beach close..shopping close.

Activities: Maspalomas dunes have to be seen to be believed

" crooks "

i stayed in this so called hotel last august and i strongly advise anyone under 25 not to book here.We were charged 100 euros for the noise they said it was a deposit and we would get it back at the end of our stay ,but at the end they pretended not to even speak english ....that was untill they relised we stull had there key .they also tried to charge us 30 euro because a sheet was on the floor and the head maid just walks in and out everyday even if your in the toilet she just walks in showing u no respect watsoever.they are nothing but a shower of crooks and as i said i strongly advise no one to stay here !!!!!

Advice: a good place spoiled by a bad hotel

" Just got back today from a great... "

Just got back today from a great holiday in gran canaria, stayed at the corona roja, had read some reviews and was a bit dubious, however the apartment we stayed in was very clean, cleaners were in every day except sunday, the reception was manned 24 hours so you never had to worry about taking your key out and losing it,even though it was classed as self catering you wouldnt of really been able to make a meal in the apartment, though you didnt need to as there are plenty of places to eat and they are all very reasonable and anyway who wants to cook on holiday! The only complaint i had is that there was no kettle!

" I'm 19 by the way so dont think I'm a... "

I'm 19 by the way so dont think I'm a fussy grandad

For what me and my girlfiend payed for this holiday it was fantastic. Decent hotel, nice spacious room. Staff friendly. Close to all the main attractions which is great but far enough from them that you done hear anything after 11pm. We were staying on the 4th floor which was like luxury compared some of the rooms. We were self catering so we got a studio aparment. It had a big balcony, seperate room for our beds. little couch and table. Dressing table for the ladies. lol.

Bad points. Now because our return flight wasnt till late on we had to pay 30 euros to continue our room. But we didnt get out own room. we got moved to the 2nd floor. Our room was tiny. No balcony. Only 2 little windows. It was like a prison cell. It had a humid foosty smell which was stinkin. Ohh and it had a cockroach in it as soon as we opened the door. and it was so loud. Even in the morning people were shouting, music blaring etc. So if youre going to book this hotel its a DEFINATE MUST that you request a higher floor. The pool wasnt the cleanest either. The outside of it looked rotten and chipped. and we saw a huge cockroach next to it. So I wasnt in there much.

The beach on the other hand is great though. Now in the hotel brochure it says its right next to it. This is true but its a little tiny beach with lots of stones on it and it never has any people on it. The main part is a little bit of a walk. But its a lovely walk along the promenade with all the little shops and stuff so its not so bad.

Overall. I had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend going. Nice enough people. Some great restaurants. El Rancho was top drawer, Unbelievable. We went self catering for 2 weeks and got the holiday fot less than 300 quid which is why I think most people will be thinkin about goin in the 1st place.

Just remember. If youre going for the Coronja Roja which I do recommend its a dead cert to request a higher floor. Prefferably 4th floor upwards. Because theres no way I would have put up with The room We got for a day for 2 weeks.

" This was the best holiday ever. It... "

This was the best holiday ever. It was a really nice hotel for the price, in an excellent location for the clubs and bars. We had a lovely, spacious room which we were lucky to have when compared with others also with club 18-30. Not having air con wasn't a prob as the windows gave enough fresh air. The rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard.
The only slightly bad thing was that the bed sheets werent changed apart from that was excellent and will deffo be staying there again!:)

Be prepared for the worst if your staying here esp if your on the ground floor.. cockroaches galore. Theyl be like another member of your holiday group. rooms only cleaned twice in 1week bed sheets never changed!! staff dont care if you have cockroaches they laugh cus the cant speak english!!!! bathrooms have no windows or fans so stink like sewers. there is no air conditioning so always a deadheat when you walk in. I know we didnt spend that much but didnt expect it to be that bad!!!def nt go bk 2 this dump. pool area wasnt that bad but could do with a clean every so often.

" Was staying in this hotel in July and... "

Was staying in this hotel in July and had read a lot of very bad comments, i even brought my own cutlery and everything because i thought we would be eating cockroaches if we used the hotels...but to my suprise it was very clean indeed and the night life around us was absolutely fab!!!!the reps made the holiday because they were fun loving and very considering!!!...not wat i had originally thought about reps!!!lol..the places for food around the hotel wer spot on and the supermarket was rite outside the door of the hotel so that was a bonus...i had also heard that there was sum unwanted things in the pool..which was also a lot of rubbish, yes there is ppl that mite like a drink during the day but it wasnt bad...i was reaaly worried as it was my first girly holiday away from my parents and nearly died when we realised it was 18-30 we booked with but honestly anyone who has those pre-holiday nerves...dont be worried!!!!!

" I often read reviews before going... "

I often read reviews before going away but never pay to much attention as i'm always under the impression you only read the bad reviews so I was quite optimistic.
I was very wrong...

This hotel was dirty, the room was cramped, the power was always going off, no ho****er @ most times of the day, crawling with bugs / insects (especially cockroaches). The rooms were hot & sticky but you expect that in July so I went to go & rent airconditioning (the only time reception would help is when they thought they were getting money out of you) however this was Eur 90 a week! so I opted for the more reasonable fan.

When complaining @ reception over numerous things, they would simply shrug there shoulders, turn aroun & walk away.

Thought about a nice day around the pool, went to go for a swim & a sort of skin over the top of the pool so couldn't do that. Lunch came, thought would treat myself to a beer, but sadly the glass had a bug in it was filthy with crisp crumbs amongst other things around the rim. I correctly asked for another but was not allowed. My cheese & home toastie was also cold!

Nice place Gran Canaria will probably go back but the hotel ruined my hotel so certainly won't be going back there!

" Me and my 4 friends have just came... "

Me and my 4 friends have just came back from staying at these appartments. I was worried about staying there as i had read some bad reviews on the place but i was very happy when i arrived. Most of the staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome. We had a 2 bedroom studio with a kitchen, living area and quite a big balcony with a sea view. I was very impressed. We were under the care of the escapades reps who were brill and always made an effort to come round the pool and see if everyone was ok...they felt more like friends...the only down fall was that our toilet flush broke a couple of times and we had to make a fuss to get someone to fix it but they did come in the end. All i can say is that for the little it costs to go and stay there as long as you have clean rooms does it really matter???? The appartments are not half and hour away from the umbro center or any other night life come to that, it was about a 10 minute walk up a straight road and if you can't be bothered to walk it cost about 2-3 euros in a taxi which are always outside the appartments very convenient. The only downfall for playa de ingles is that there are about a million steps leading down and up from the beach....very hard work in the sun....but having said that we did find out to late that there is in fact a lift!!! Anyway i would defo go back and would stop no where else but these appartments. Overall an excellent holiday wish i was back there!!!
