To start with we arrived at the resort at 5.00am. I was first off the bus and into reception to ask could I get a pool view room - most of the rooms are pool view - the porter on gave us the key to our apt (no.121). It was the worst possible apt in the resort - we were looking out onto a main road and it had steps up the side of our apt from the main road, also from past experience in a apt at the end of a row I just didn’t feel safe. So at 5.30am, myself and my boyfriend headed back down to reception after having a conversation on the phone with reception and was told we would have to wait until 7am until the woman on reception started work- omg she was really abrupt so finally about 7.30 am they gave us a different apt which we were really grateful for - at this stage all we wanted to do was sleep as we were knackered... Got up to the apt to find the air-con was broke and the room was like a sauna so I was half terrified to request to get it fixed and also too tired so we just went to bed.
It was a big family holiday and my sisters and their kids had lovely pool view rooms (lucky ones) ha.
The apts are pretty small and definitely not comfortable for more than 2 adults. Food at the pool bar was quiet nice, and I must say the kid’s entertainment was excellent. My nieces and nephews had a ball. So thanks to Mary!!! The lads working in the pool bar were really nice too and always very friendly. You more or less always locate a sun bed there was a big group of us and we all managed to get a sunbed most days.
Super market across the road with basics, much larger supermarket to the right when you come out of the resort it’s literally 5 mins walk, also a fresh bakery on the way to the supermarket lovely fresh rolls and so many tempting cakes!!!!
Pubs and clubs about 10-15 mins walk, and the entertainment in the "square" is excellent for all ages its all open air with Westlife, Take that, Robbie Williams etc tributes on every night ... You just have to visit there one night.
The pirate show is also an outstanding performance and again is something I would highly recommend going to see. Ask your rep about booking it up. We paid 59euro per adult and 35euro per child-money well spent, food and drink included soft drinks, wine, sangria and obviously every other drink at reasonable prices.
Any one from Ireland who smokes 'John Player Blue', they actually sell them in 1 tobacco shop over there 200 cigs for 31 euro!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!! :):)

The location of the apartments was excellent. We werent in the middle of the resort but only 5 minute walk from it. Supermarket across the road.
The cleanliness of the apartments was excellent. Change of beds and towels every day except for Wed and Sun. The bathroom, bedroom and living room floors were cleaned every day also.
The pool was fantastic. The layout of it was great. The children's section (2 of them) was railed off from shallow end and deep end, which I thought was excellent for me (non swimmer) and my 3 year old son. There was also a small play area with slide and swings beside the pool, but not many children used this as the pool appealed to them more.
My 3 year old son loved the kiddies club which was well supervised and very safe. The entertainment at night time we didn’t really go to as it was geared towards older children around 6yrs and up. We would go down to centre of resort and get something to eat in the many excellent restaurants and there were always entertainers on the street and a bouncy castle too on the street. I would definitely recommend Jackie's restaurant. It was very child friendly.
The only down side I had on my holiday was that our apartment was on second storey above the entertainment area which was very loud until midnight and after some nights.
The bedroom was at the back looking out onto the main road which was extremely noisy all night till the morn. Very hard to get my son to sleep with noise from road and bar.
I would go back to the Gran Santa Ponsa Apartments again when my son is older.

Great holiday, we arrived at 6 in the morning the first day. When we got our apartment there was bottled water some tea, coffee, milk and kids drink (chocolate/strawberry nesquik drink) thought it was a very nice touch as at that hour of the morning it would be hard to find somewhere to get something to drink.
Rooms were cleaned every day which was great. 5 minutes from all the bars and restaurants and as said in a previous review far enough away that it was quiet at night.
Thank you Gran Santa Ponsa

I've Stayed here four times and I must say its the best place I've ever been, the staff are the friendliest I have come across. The place was spotless, I'm not into the sort of entertainment that goes on but a lot of people are and the bingo is all right (if I win)!
The location is perfect, close to the centre but a bit parked off so its peaceful at night which is great. The resort is great, go to Mrs Murphies Kitchen if you go to Santa Ponsa, food is brilliant there.
There is a large variety of things to do in this resort for all ages, its a good place for families but there is a few clubs for the club heads.
I've been in Santa Ponsa 6 or 7 times since I was 4 and am returning without my parents this year with my girlfriend and I hope its as good as I remember.

I have just returned from a week’s holiday in Santa Ponsa. I stayed in the apartment complex with my friend. We both have children but on this occasion didn’t bring them!
We found the complex fantastic the staff were wonderful very friendly and always willing to help, the place was spotless, the apartments were bright and airy, they were cleaned on a daily basis.
The pool was huge with sections to suit all types of people from the non swimmers like myself to the strong swimmers. For young children the section was very safely railed off from the rest of the pool.
We did eat the food on site a couple of times and it was edible but not great-probably my only complaint about the entire place!
I would recommend this place to anybody with a family as it is very family orientated with nightly entertainment and a wonderful kids club open a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, there’s also a little playground on-site if they get bored in the pool!
As regards location we thought it was great only a five minute walk to the bars and restaurants but in a quiet enough spot so you’ll get your night’s sleep-very important if you have young children.
So again I would highly recommend it to anybody and we intend to return next year with our children.

Can't understand how this is 3 star apartments. Any couple looking to go abroad with young children and relax you can do it here.
The staff are excellent especially Mary with the kids from morning to night, these are top family apartments.
Our children were in tears on the last night as were others at leaving, thank you Gran Santa Ponsa.

The apartments were very small. We had to push the table and chairs to one corner of the room in order to make the living area a decent size for two adults and two young children. Very disappointed that the brochure did not specify that air conditioning was not in bedroom. However left the Air Con on all night with the bedroom door open and that seemed to help.
The apartments were not as clean as I had expected. The floors were not clean in our apartment, nor in the common areas of the building. A mars bar wrapper lay there for 3 days before it was removed! The area around the pool was dirty. I had white flip flops which were filthy by the end of the week.
There is a play area near the pool which has sand as the base. Consequently in the baby pool there was always sand.
The staff were fairly friendly but made no effort whatsoever to accommodate our request for a late check out which we needed as we have a baby of 16 months and were not flying home until 10pm. there was a courtesy room for showering on our last day but we had to wait an hour for it to become available.
The menu at the restaurant is very limited especially for children. There are not really many facilities for young children i.e. under 6 years. The games room is more for teenagers.
The towels were changed regularly but some were ripped. The bedding was changed regularly but one sheet had a cigarette hole in it. There are no televisions despite brochure saying that there would be on request.
The noise from the very poor entertainment was very loud especially if you were close to the bar area which we were. Additionally we were very bothered by the football enclosure area with people playing football until sometimes 2am!
The entertainment was very repetitive, the same thing night after night more or less i.e. mini disco and bingo!
I would not stay at these apartments again and was quite disappointed.
Good points were the lifeguard - very vigilant. Mary the children's entertainer -very friendly and enthusiastic.

We arrived at 11.20am & were greeted by the reception staff with an apology as we would have to wait for our apartment. The manager then apologised to & asked if we would like a drink of our choice from the bar while we waited! What a delight to be treated this way.
Our whole stay was no different ,the staff from reception were fantastic a real fountain of knowledge about the area & nothing was ever too much trouble, the waiters, bar staff, lifeguard, daily entertainer were always cheerful & helpful. The man we believed to be the manager was always around & asking if everything was alright for you & if you had any problems we truly believe this was not just lip service as we said we had a problem with our air conditioning being temperamental & it was sorted out immediately
The apartments were spotless although we were only there for a week the towels were changed daily, rooms were swept, floors washed & even the beds changed mid week once again nothing was too much trouble for the maids who were cheerful & unobtrusive even at this late stage of the season.
The pool area was clean & tidy no rubbish anywhere the life guard was always alert & watchful which was proven when a young couple "lost" their son. As soon as the lifeguard realised they were looking for him got straight off his chair & went to him hiding under a table! Well spotted as we were right near him & never saw or heard a thing!
Perfect location across the road from a supermarket for water & a newspaper, 10 minute walk to the main shops, restaurants & beach. No really noisy bars this end of the resort but further up a Mac Donalds, Burger King & various bars & discos if that’s what your looking for.
All in all a very relaxing holiday due to where the apartments are located & the fact they are so clean & the staff so friendly I’m sure much of what they do is over & above what they are paid for but their courtesy & reliability was priceless which is very hard to come by in some holiday resorts.
Only one small criticism the kettle took half an hour to boil so take a travel one with you!

Been back nearly a week, and am really missing this place. To sum it up 'It felt like home!'
Apartment - Big enough for us, 3 Adults and 1 child. Great having both bath and shower. Kitchenette was small but for quick meals it was sufficient. Air-con worked and was often well needed! We were on ground floor, had nice view of pool, we had bushes in front so it was private enough. Maid service to clean every day apart from Weds and Sunday. Change of towels 3 times a week. Our maid was lovely, always cheerful. A bit of noise from our next door neighbours on the 2nd week, and from apartment above but nothing major.
Complex - The pool was fantastic. Always enough room, 4 sections catering from babies to the swimmers. Lilos etc were left from previous people so no need to buy. Lifeguard on from 1030 till 1930 everyday and he was quite vigilant.
Entertainment - Kids club was there, Mary the entertainer was in every day and night except Sat. Really nice lady. She organised kiddie disco, quiz, bingo, paella making, BBQ etc. We also had a Magician, Hypnotist, Rod Stewart tribute night, Snake visit, and great shows!
Bar- the bar staff/waiters were very friendly. You could have a laugh with them, and they often remembered what you order! Prices were ok, apart from meals and ice-creams which were a bit steep. There was a TV showing Sky Sports, however it was not very big. Also, there was one women’s WC in the complex, so there was usually a queue which meant we often went back to our apartment and used our WC as this was quicker.
Location - quiet area, but only about 3min walk into centre. About 10min to Irish bars. Supermarket across road, 1 min literally, or come out of complex, turn right and walk 3mins to Caprabo which was a massive supermarket.
Places to recommend - The Square which had entertainment most nights (about half an hour walk but shops on way to break it up), Western Waterpark, Jackie’s Restaurant on beach front, Mrs Murphy’s Kitchen near Irish Bars, Bobby’s and Madison’s in quiet end towards Marina, Scott’s in Shopping Arcade- great homemade food, The Watering Hole as it had a pool in the day, The Golf Bar (above Jewellers near big round about) which had happy hour 9-11pm as well as the cheapest internet access.
All in all, fab holiday, and looking to go back next year, this time with 10 of us!
