Dear David and Gilda, thank you for taking the time to write a few words abou the hotel. I hope that your stay to our hotel did not spoil your holiday. You mentioned about the size of the rooms. All the rooms are about the same size. Only the apartments which are for families have extra room. Maybe you saw one of them . Thank you again and I wish the best for you. Mika

We arrived at Ziakis in the early hours of the morning to be greeted at reception and shown to our room, which was clean, airy and extremely spacious. It was definitely the biggest studio we have stayed in and we have been going to Greece for over 6 years. The maid service was excellent, room was cleaned everyday. The pool area is clean and large enough that it was never over crowded. The barman, Yianni, is the star of this hotel, working all hours of the day and always willing to help. He was very friendly and accomadating.
The resort of Pefkos is approximately a 10 minutes walk downhill. It can be quite tiring walking back up to the hotel but taxis are readily available from the resort centre and reasonably cheap. You will need a torch if planning on walking as some parts of the walk are unlit.
There are lots of lovely restaurants and a handful of nice cocktail bars once in the resort. We would recomment Terpsis and Palm Cocktail bar.
Overall an excellent hotel with brilliant staff and a fab resort. We will definitley be returning!

Can't wait to go back to Ziakis, such a shame unfit people drip about the hill. I am a 34 year old smoker and managed the hill no problem, infact the spectacular view from up there was well worth it. Hospitality at the hotel is second to none, and found we were welcomed like family. we are going back this year with more family members and have assured them, they will cry on thier last night and never want to leave as did I.
Miss you Mika x

One of the best that we have ever stayed in. As far as I am concerned its always a compromise as to being far enough away for it to be quiet, and close enough to the town centre. This was a fair walk for anyone not too fit as it is at the top of the hill but only really 20 minutes, but the plus side was it was far enough away to be really peaceful when you wanted it. We booked early and got in the best block overlooking the sea. Stunning views. Rooms cleaned regularly. Clean towels/Sheets, Bathroom (actually had a bath) and as much hot water at any time of day as you needed. Kitchen sparse but adequate, as you don't go on holiday to a place like this to do a lot of cooking, I would have liked to had a toaster though. Beautiful Pool. Good Cafeteria and Bar. Barman very helpful and pleasant. Would recommend these apartments.
- Advice: Not a Ravers paradise, but lots of Tavernas and bars, beautiful area

my husband and i (both 27) stayed here for 2wk. It was a nice 2wks but that was nothing to do with the hotel. We loved the resort, the town is great. The hotel descriptions online were rather inaccurate, its a massive hill to get to and from town, we found it hard work and we are quite active people. The hotel is basic, not much 'life' to it, but the rooms were comfortable, cleaned everyday and the cleaning staff were great.
On check out day we had to vacate at midday, we asked if there was the option to keep the room on until the evening as we were not being picked up until 1am but were told no. The shower offered was the pool side shower and they would not provide us with towels.
The worst bit of the stay here was the resident peacock, it 'called' to its friends down in the town from about 5am til midday, then it started up again about 6pm and sometimes didnt stop until 1am.
I would not stop at this hotel again, for a cheap holiday i'd stay at the Demitris, still up a hill but its not as bad and they had a much nice pool and bar area.
I am very sorry to hear that you did not had the holiday you dreamed. Now , as far the peacock is not ours. People are feeding it so occassionaly is in the hotel. I cannot throw it out. For the room that you could not extend, only the manager knows if the hotel is fuul and what other guest is waiting and at what time. So sometime , there are rooms which are not available for day use. The shower that people are using is inside the building in the toilets and not in the pool side. Towels since you leave the room the property is not obligated to give, although there a lot of times that we do. At last about the hill, in every website that the prpperty is featured says that is on a hill about 1.5 km from the resort. I hope next time you will choose a property that will make you holiday unforgetable.

4th time to Pefkos but 1st to Ziakis. In my opinion the views at this place are the best in the resort - absolutely stunning! If you are lucky enough to get in the 300 block like us, your balcony will look out over the sea, Pefkos Bay and the resort - fabulous! The studios are spacious compared to some in Greece , and are kept very clean by the great maid service. The beds are very comfy for Greece and there is a decent shower in the bathroom. We needed aircon which was 110 euro for 2 weeks, well worth it! Yes the self catering facilities aren't great but we don't go on holiday to cook when there are so many great tavernas serving Greek food! You get a kettle at Ziakis which is a bonus for us!
Mika and her family are very helpful and give quick service - our bathroom light wasn't working on our first night and it was fixed immediately.
The pool is a decent size and we found it wasn't too hard to get a sunbed, especially if you went down first thing or about 3pm. The guy who runs the pool bar (Yiannis?) is great - serves good food at cheap prices and always friendly.
There isn't really a lot aimed at children, but as we don't have any this was a plus point for us!
There is a shop at the studios which is good for buying your water but it could do with being better stocked for lunches, but I suppose they want you to eat at the pool bar!
The bar at nights was probably the only let down as it was a bit quiet. Would have been nice to have somewhere to come back for a small drink after dinner but the bar is inside by reception and doesn't seem to be used much. There was aparently karaoke one night but we didn't see it!
Now, location - as I said, stunning views but it is quite a steep hill to walk down to the resort centre. The easiest way is to turn right out of the hotel. You can either follow the road right down to the back of Filimon Hotel or do what we did and use the goat track about halfway down the road. Either way you will need a torch if walking in the dark, and if you have mobility issues it could be a problem unless you hire a car or get a taxi for approx 4 euro each way. At nights we didn't find the walk too much of a problem, but it was tiring in 45 degree heat! Overall though we did think it was worth it for the studios and would recommend going!
Pefkos is perfect for couples wanting a relaxing holiday with a few tavernas and bars to enjoy. We have been 4 times since 2003 and it keeps drawing us back.
The main beach is nice but can get very busy - there are few smaller beaches round the resort which are quieter if that's what you prefer.
There are quite a few little shops to look round and bag yourself some cheap sunglasses etc and some really good jewellery shops.
There are lots of tavernas to choose from for your evening meal and none of them are really bad. We weren't too keen on Spitaki or Colesseum this year but standards can change year to year. This year our favourites were Roumelli No 4, Hellas Garden, Enigma, Elia and Nikolas which is further out the resort but totally underated - amazing food and great service. Bars - there are a couple of new bars opened and are very modern, which are very nice but somehow seem slightly out of place in Pefkos - think others must think this too as they were always empty. Unfortunately (in our opinion) since our last visit there seems to be a couple more bars with huge TVs showing football etc. Not to our liking but easy to avoid! Our favourite hang out is Jimmy's Cocktail Bar on the main beach road, again totally underrated! The best cocktails I have had in a long time and at very cheap prices, all served by friendly staff in cool pleasant surrounding - it's a must! Large beer 3 euros and cocktails 4-5 euros - bargain!
Have to say we have never been to Eclipse or Pefkos By Night - we don't go on hols to go to the clubs as we prefer to chill and relax with a few drinks, but from speaking to others they both seem really good if you want a dance!
Prices this year we felt were very reasonable. Some tavernas like Roumelli did 3 courses for 8.90 - excellent. The rest averaged at about 4 euro for hot starter and 8-12 euro for a main course. We budgeted 50 euro per day for food and drinks and managed it without worry, based on a couple of breakfasts eating out, a mix of lunch out and lunch in (rolls etc) and eating out every night for the 2 weeks.
Car hire - we used Lindos rent a car as was the best quote we got - 100 euros for 5 days. If you hire a car we recommend visiting Lindos and eating there one night, Prasonisi, Epta Piges (7 springs) Rhodes Town and just pottering round the West Coast - breath taking!
Overall we love Pefkos and would recommend it if you want a Greek resort with good food, good drink and not too much "Britishness"!!!

we have just spent two wonderful weeks at Hotel Ziakis in room 322 and 324. we have found the owners and staff to be friendly and helpful. we had a couple of problems with aircon not working on arrival. The owners daughter (who speaks very good english)came emediately and it was soon sorted out. The view from out balcony was absolutely breathtaking and we enjoyed some wonderful sunsets and sunrises. The rooms were very clean and linen was changed every 4 days which we have not come across before but it was lovely to get into crisp clean sheets after a day in the sun. My only critisism is the cooking untensils are a little sparse for self catering and would have been difficult to really cook a meal if you are unable to afford a meal out. The pool area is very well looked after with plenty of sunbeds and matress. we were able to go to the pool anytime of day and always find a sunbed, none of that getting up at the crack of dawn to put your towels down!! Yanni the bar waiter was lovely, always smiling and obliging, and enjoyed a few games of pool with my 17 year old twins. The bar meals are very good and reasonably priced. The location is not for the fainthearted as there is a steep hill to get to the village. we did not mind walking down but decided to get a cab back every evening rather than walk back as it is very dark. A cab will only cost 4 euros. We all had the most relaxing, and enjoyable holiday and would return.

i stayed at the ziakis apartments in july 09 with my daughter and two grandsons. we had a lovely holiday and the apartments were cleaned daily the staff were very friendly and the pool area was very clean, good choice of snacks at the pool bar and a friendly service. however the steep hill into pefkos was very steep and quite dangerous when you have two young children with you with no lights or walkway. however pleasant to walk down but not nice walking home. we ended up spending a lot of money on taxis. overall we had a really nice holiday and if the hotel was situated anywhere else i would definately visit again

Stayed at the Ziakis Studios July 2009 in room 310, great place, quiet, up the hill with a steady cool wind. A restriction in Pefkas (fishing village) means all music has to be turn down at midnight, so until then you might get some noise in the wind as it blows up the cliff.
We read lots of reviews and went rather confident and we were not let down, 4 studio blocks plus the hotel block. Block 3 is the best being at the front and block 4 is also good, my wife was pleased with the Hairdryer and a bath for a soak, cooking facilities are limited but a large fridge to freeze a bottle of water and keep milk beer and wine was all we needed. The kettle broke on the first day and was replaced straight away, the owner’s daughter speaks very good English so ask for here if you have a problem. The goat track / short cut, is 5 mins down the road, 3 mins on the track and 10 mins to town or 4 euros in a taxi. The hotel isn’t suitable for any one with walking difficulties and you probably won’t get too many young kids either. Didn’t have any problem with availability of sun beds however you can go to many hotels in pefkas and use their pool as long as you buy a drink, so if it does fill up go for a walk. All the hotels we went to were very happy to allow visitors to use the facilities to increase revenues.
The AC worked well and was needed (55 euros a week) seems most hotels are charging extra. We found that setting the unit too 23 degrees economy was quite at night so we just left it on 24-7.
Best supermarket is Trimmis at the bottom of the goat track, prices are twice what you pay in the uk everywhere on the island. Went to Rhodes old town, a must, the drinks in the square were up to 14 euros for a glass of wine and 5 euros for coke so go of the beaten track and you will pay 3 for a beer/wine and 2 for a coke. 6500 rooms in Pefkas so bigger than you expect however first part of July 09 only 2500 were full so they are having it bad too. If only the weather in the UK wasn’t better the drinks and food are certainly cheaper. Enjoy!
P.S. Load of taxis, 60 euros from the airport 45 minutes and 55 euros from the hotel back to the airport, nice airport very few facilities airside 5 euros for a sandwich so take a picnic. Bear in mind no fluids.
- Advice: Bigger than you expect and very English

Stayed at Ziakis for two weeks and had a fabulous holiday. The hotel is about a 20 min walk from resort centre, which we liked as it was a nice stroll back in the evenings, a little steep but not a problem for us, but could be a problem for anyone with mobility problems, but a taxi from the centre to Ziakis was only 4 euro if you don't like walking.
There are a couple of short cuts to the centre, one as you turn right out of the hotel called the goat track and two as you turn left which cut out the bends in the road and any short cut in temperatures of 38-45 degrees helps!
The hotel itself was clean, rooms spacious and well kept and a little shop on site which was kept open for late/early arrivals to buy essentials, the extra charges were, 110 euro for 2 weeks air con, 40 euro for safe and 30 euro to keep room until 6pm on day of leaving.
The poolside bar serves drinks and snacks until 5pm, then the bar upstairs will open.
We found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful and although some have limited English, we didn't find this a problem as with our limited Greek we understood each other and surely it's our responsibility to learn the language of the country we travel to!
All in all a great holiday and would return to Ziakis without hesitation.

Stayed at Pefkos for a week. The resort was beautiful as we hired a car to get round the island and ventured out different beaches we fell in love with the Gennadi beach- a small pebbly quiet beach with a taverna that serves food and drinks. We had cooked breakfast by the pool served by Yannis who was so friendly and helpful. In the evening we either drive or walk down to the tavernas which will take you about 15 minutes each way if you choose to use the short cut via 'goat's' track can be a bit tricky coming back as it was too dark. There is a bar at the hotel were we had a few drinks and Yannis is also the barman who stays open until 1am. The bar was too quiet which we didn't mind as we prefer to chill out and wind down at night.
We managed to go on a boat trip (Sun seekers ) it was brilliant! We were taken to 5 different beaches and was served with a delicious lunch.
Our accommodation i would say was a bit of a let down, we were placed on block 500's which was small no view, next to the road over-looked by passers by and had to close the curtains most of the time as there was no privacy at all. We had air con throughout the holiday which cost 55 euros. We stayed at a studio before and for me personaly this is more like just a room and won't classify it as a studio because bedroom, kitchen(basic) and toilet were all incorporated in one room, no sitting area or like a lounge like what a studio should be ( in my expectation). I querried about the room on that night that we arrived but i was told that all rooms are the same which i thought "fair enough" just to find out one morning when the maid was cleaning one of the rooms on that same block that the other rooms were much much bigger than ours with bigger balcony and a lounge! Well, i supposed, just luck really as this is our first visit to Rhodes we just relied on the Travel Agent's recommendation.
Overall, the resort was very good, staff at the hotel were friendly, would recommend the resort, accommodation-well,average really.
