this hotel in brilliant food is lovely with loads of choice pool area is large plenty beds and staff are very helpful. the rooms are a bit dated but very clean , the wellness centre is to die for i would deffo stay here again. rooftop jacuzzi is special

Gran Canaria is a great destination for all ages and this is why we booked this holiday. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children, ages, 14, 13 and 9. The reception staff were extremely helpfull and spoke very good English and accomodated our every request. Thank you.... more

Sorry to see the British whingers are at it again with their reviews of the Eugenia Victoria. No wonder the Aussies have them so well taped. Yes, Eugenia Victoria is a three-star hotel. Yes, it does cater mostly for the Dutch, followed by the Germans and Belgians but, being Irish, we found it pretty nice to get away from the English. This hotel caters in the main for middle-aged guests, so it's pleasantly quiet., The staff are magnificent, the food is good buffet-style, the cleaning is very efficient. One downside, and it's the fault of some guests who ignore the evening meal dress-code to appear wearing vests and shorts. One wonders also if they trouble to bathe before dining!!! Overall, an excellent hotel with larger rooms an added bonus.
Great value from skijo
Booked independently through a booking agent in uk on all inclusive. Cost £40 per night each. Excellent value. Was worried that the quality may be poor. I have stayed 5 star all inclusive and this was much better, couldn't fault anything. The bar meals at lunch time are exceptional, tenderloin on hot stone is recommended. Room sizes are big but no air con which may be a problem in the summer. For a week away doing nothing I would def recommend
Perfect Place to Relax from DonegalGirl
A really lovely hotel and the perfect place for a relaxing sun holiday. All of the rooms have balconies looking out onto the pool. The rooms are a good size and excellant value for money., but there's no air conditioning so be careful when you book... we caught the end of a heat wave so it was tough to sleep some nights. The food was excellant and the spa is a must-do. Also, the location is great... close enough to everything but in a quiet area away from all of the noise of Playa del Ingles. And the staff at the hotel couldn't be nicer... we were even given a free ice cold litre of water when we checked-in (at 3am... that's package deals for you) by a really nice man at reception since everything was closed.

Spent two weeks at the end of June in Eugenia Victoria, gorgeous weather and lovely hotel. As the only customers of Thomas Cook going to the hotel on that day we soon found out that the english were very much in the minority. Very german based, entertainment etc and staff seemed more friendly towards them. Though reception spoke fantastic english and helped as much as they could. We upgraded to all inclusive from half board whilst we were there for about 200 euros each. Food was fantastic, plenty of choice. Missed breakfast a few times but the pool bar opens at 10am for snacks and the terrace bar which offers chicken, steak, pasta etc from 12 - 3. Self service drinks bar for all inclusive customers, own brand beer which my boyfriend didnt enjoy but they are very generous with spirits and often had to ask for an extra lemonade to add to my malibu or smirnoff vodka. The pool was large and clean as were the grounds and had a football / tennis court which my boyfriend enjoyed. Mini-golf and pool table. The best facilities was the wellness centre which is situated practically underground in the middle of the resort. When you arrive you get a free pass which is usually 12 euros to spend two hours in here, which is really relaxing and well worth a visit. Heated pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc and I had a massage which was around 20 euros for 30 minutes which was fantastic. Location of hotel was great, ten minutes to beach, clubs, shops etc. Though there were 2 supermarkets right next to the hotel for anything... water... lilo... junkfood etc. Taxis are amazingly cheap, no more than 3 euros in the local area and to aqualand - which is definatly worth a visit - was four euros. Aqualand is a great day out open 10-6 but bring plenty of money for enterance, sunbeds, food and pictures they offer. It was around 23 euros enterance fee. Sioux city is a must we went with our tour company, all food and drink are included as well as entertainment. We both got a gun and cowboy hat and had a great time! Perfect for any age. The entertainment wasnt really our thing at night (and in the day the waterpolo etc was German), and centred around the kids. So we went out nearly every night... The bars around the beach where great for a few drinks and good entertainment. The kasbar is more for the 18-30 crowd and a really good night out and the free drinks was lethal. Grand Chaperal is a 2 minute walk from the hotel as is more small time bars and quizzes and comedians etc and the cocktails in wemblys are great! All-in-all, playa del ingles is a great place no matter your age and there is plenty to do. The eugenia victoria is great, with lovely rooms (though no air con, the bedrooms are at the back of the room so the ceiling fan is more than enough) and the maids are fantastic. Would recommend to anyone.
Poor Food from hattylloydo
Myself and my girlfriend stayed at the Hotel Eugenia Victoria early September. The hotel is in a great location situated between the Yumbo centre and Kasbah. The hotel itself looks great from the outside and equally attractive inside. However the rooms are a little dissapointing. No air conditioning means you have a fan above your bed which rattles all night, great for when your trying to get 40 winks! The matresses are also pretty hard, abit like sleeping on concrete. The main problem with the hotel is the Germans and Dutch out number the Brits by about 10 to 1. Dont get me wrong the majority are nice people but they tend to be very rude towards the English. We stayed half board at the hotel but this was pointless as the food was disgusting. The only safe things to eat were the chips and ice cream (which the Germans go crazy for). Therefore I would strongly advise to not go all inclusive. Apart from these let-downs we still had a great holiday and Gran Canaria is a brilliant resort. But if you want to stay with British holiday makers and eat nice food, dont stay here!!
Fantastic Hotel from Lauren_sew
We have just returned from a 8 night stay in Eugenia Victoria Gran Canaria. The hotel was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel every where was spotless! We went all inclusive the meals were all buffet style and had a huge choice and we didnt have to have the same thing every night which you do in alot of hotels with buffets. bedroom was more like an appartment (without cooker). The only thing i would warn people about is the amount of Germans who stay here, they do go and reserve sun beds at 7am in the morning but the staff do take the towels off the beds if they have not been occupied for an hour, sometimes the evening entertainment can be aimed more to the German guests, but there is always the outside bar to go to get away and enjoy the music of the live band who plays every night. all in all we were so glad we chose to stay here we were a bit worried after reading so many mixed reports of hotels, this website helped us so much in choosing the right hotel for us so i thought it only fair to write a report aswell to help others. I work in hotels therefore am very picky that every thing has to be perfect, i would reccomend this hotel to anyone!!!!!

Myself and my boyfriend have just returned fron Playa del Ingles, the hotel itself is brillant, really clean and the pool is really big and clean. The food in the hotel wasnt up to much at all, we were all inclusive and had to eat out every night as the food wasnt up to much, the hotel itself was full of germans and dutch, not many brits, The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to everthing. I enjoyed Playa Del Ingles and would go back, i would go back to The Eugenia Victoria but just not all inclusive.

Mt boyfriend and I are just recently back from a weeks holiday in Gran Canaria staying at Eugenia Victoria. I must admit, i was pleasantly suprised by the hotel. It looks rather posh from the outside and lovely marbal floors in reception. The manager of the hotel is lovely and very helpful. The overall hotel (lookwise) was lovely and very spacious rooms all with balconies and pool views. We stayed half board (breakfast and evening meal) however we did have the oppertunity to go all inclusive for 15 euros a day. I would suggest not doing this until you have had a meal there. Im a picky eater, which i suppose didnt help but the food was very continental and was usually pretty much the same every night. My boyfriend didnt enjoy it much either. The HUGE problem with this hotel is that it is very German and Dutch orientated. It seemed all the staff spoke German and when we spoke they all looked at us like we were weirdos and shouldnt have been there. The pool area is ok - if the Germans leave their towels on sunbeds before the end of breakfast, they get confiscated by reception...hehe. You MUST use your free pass to the Wellness center, its lovely and a great way to spend an afternoon nursing a hangover! If you want any treatments there though, i would advise that you book it when you arrive as they were fully booked when i wanted to book. One thing that i thought would bother me is the fact of no air-conditioning but there is a fan above your bed that if you put on before you go out, leaves your room comfortable for getting into bed. Overall, I believe a holiday is what you make of it and the hotel is in an ideal location if you hate it that much.

my husband and i came back yesterday from euginie victoria. lovely hotel but there was no english they where all germans and dutch. no entertament for the english so we went outside the hotel in the evenings. no aircondition in the hotel or the rooms, and the food was the same every night not much choise.
Pleasantly surprised.... from Sashakins
My boyfriend and I have just got back from a week's stay at the Eugenia Victoria and I thought I would post a review to say how much we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was situated in a great location - it was only a two minute walk to the supermarket and a few local bars, a five minute walk to lots of bars, clubs, crazy-golf etc and a fifteen minute walk to the beach (although a free shuttle bus left from the hotel every hour). The beach was very clean but sand was extremely hot so remember to wear your sandals! The waves were pretty big - great for body boarding! The rooms at the hotel were a good size and modern with lots of storage space for all my clothes but unfortunately there was no air-con in the room - only a ceiling fan over the bed, but to be honest, it didn't matter as it was still comfortable. I agree that the rooms were a tad on the dark side from all the mahogany furniture. Food was nice, pretty average for a 3*+ hotel. We did like the steaks, which were cooked while you waited and the chocolate fountain was a nice touch. We went all-inclusive and were extremely pleased to find that Smirnoff Vodka and Johnny Walker whisky on the free drink’s list! You don't often get the good stuff on all-inclusive! The hotel guests were mainly German or Dutch and we were assumed to be of the same nationality, however, most of them did speak very good English so we did have some conversation with other guests. We were also really pleased to have a free session in the Wellness Centre, which included the Swedish sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, spa bath with jets & waterfalls and the relaxation room with swinging chairs. Very romantic! Over all I would definitely recommend this hotel!
