HCC Covadonga

A basic hotel with only a bar but did have room service. We were on a city break and only used it as a base camp so suited us perfectly; we weren't looking for a pool holiday.
Breakfast was excellent except coffee was always luke warm. Rooms were spacious with large comfy beds. Air con was good and not loud and shower was superb. VERY clean, especially bathroom, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Another guest was the subject of a credit card scam, away from hotel and the staff were excellent to them waving charges when they didn't have enough money.
A good area and a 15 min walk to several subway (Metro) stations. Best bit of advice is to get a Barcelona card from any tourist information kiosk (30 euros for 4 days) this allows you free travel on the metro and buses so you don't worry about having to find or ask about fares. It also gave discounts on a lot of decent places. Using this we saw most of Barcelona being able to easily jump around the city on the underground which is very frequent about every five mins.
Although we found Barcelona very safe and did not have any problems be very wary around the major tourist areas for pick pocketing and similar distraction thefts i.e. people pretending to be undercover police to get your credit cards. Look at the Barcelona Tourist web site for good safety advice.
