Residences Pierre Et Vacances Hotel

We booked an apartment at the Pierre et Vacances Hotel for a week at the end of August.
We were very pleased with the amount of space available: we booked one of the larger apartments, which are advertised to accommodate up to 6/7 people. For our family of 4, this gave us plenty of room - a double room upstairs with small balcony, plus a separate bathroom, (bath, sink & toilet).
Downstairs was a studio room with bunk-beds and a further shower-room (shower, sink & toilet). The living area was ample - 2 large sofas with slide-out beds underneath for additional guests, a dining table seating up to 6, and a kitchenette including a hob with 4 rings, a microwave and a full-size dishwasher. There was no kettle in the apartment for tea drinkers, so we had to boil water in a saucepan, although coffee drinkers were well catered for with a coffee percolator.
We chose to self-cater for the majority of the time, although we did take advantage of the hotel buffet breakfast on a couple of mornings. We felt this was quite pricey, and limited in the selection, (basic continental style menu), however it was well received when we had been unable to go shopping.
Just a point of note here: there is a superb hypermarket near to the hotel, at the opposite end of the nearby shopping centre. However, this is not open on Sundays. This made it rather difficult for self-catering guests like ourselves who were arriving late Saturday, unaware that it was closed Sunday, and therefore not able to go food shopping until at least the Monday.
The Valle de Europe Shopping Centre nearby is superb for shopping, as well as evening meals, etc. Many of the restaurants catered for families.
There is also an attractive designer shopping village next door.
The outside pool is heated, although only open for the summer months.
The shuttle bus to the parks, whilst adequate, is limited outside of the peak holiday season.
