Kefalos,Chrysoula Apts
Just got back we went the following weeks 17th-31st July, had a lovely time, Apts were basic but had everything you need, Ac was a tad expensive but we never needed it anyway. The bar prices are could be lower as plenty of bars up the road are 1/2 price in comparison. The bbq night with quiz is ok but only one plate for 10 euros !. The Sunday night free Spaghetti night is a fantastic way of getting people together and creaes a good atmosphere at the bar area on that evening. The food at the pool bar is superb with the chips a must truly great. Pool is fantastic and sun loungers plentiful. The hotel is lovely and a good location. Our favourite tavernas were as follows Captain Johns-Friendly staff, great seafogreek specialties plus everything kids could want and excellent views of the bay. (Tucked behind supermarket before the harbour road stretch) Rainbows-Staff were fantastic and massive portions. (just up from Popeyes) Bars Popeyes-Great host 1.50 large beers have starongbow on draught and nothing is to much trouble plus free pool for the kids. Sebastian 2- Again 1.50euros a large beer and free pool again. Nice resort, numbers looked considerably down as most restaurants were quiet, go to the Sydney bar on Saturday night as they have a hypnotist which is terrific fun. Aqau park is very well run and good value. Make sure you do not take much back with you as Kos airport charge heavy prices per kilo over 9 euros.
Quiet, relaxed and great weather
Sorry in advance but going to be a basic review! Huge and clean pool, plenty of sunbeds Afternoon breeze was a great 'god send', nice and cool in evening Expensive for a/c and probabley not needed when we were there, 28th June - 12th July, not humid at all and 25euro to keep room till 8pm was a bit over the top as well. Well worth getting a car for a few days to visit Zia, a mountain village, good luck with sign posting! We went a couple of times and watching the sunset over the near by islands is a must! Magic, Paradise, Bubble beach are worth visiting if you prefer the beach but would need a car/quad to get there. Have a great time, My g/f and I had a fantastic chilled and relaxed time. George......don't put mouse down the sink!!!!
fantastic family holiday!
My family has just returned from a fantastic week at the Chrysoula apartments! We stayed there from the 3rd july to the 11th and our only disappointment was that we were only there for a week! As it was our first trip to Kos, we were a tad anxious as to what to expect, these anxious thoughts were soon laid to rest! The owners are so friendly and there is such a lovely atmosphere, the apartments are basic but what more do you need when you are on holiday? The weather was hot hot hot so make sure you have plenty of sun cream! We will deffo be booking to return next year, only difference will be that we will be going for 2 weeks instead of 1 ! Thanks to Chrysoula and her family for making our 1st trip to Kos very enjoyable!

Relaxing & Quiet
We spent 1 week staying at the Chrysoula from 4th -11th June 2008. We found the studio apartment to be basic but comfortable and it was cleaned daily by the maid. The pool is the main selling point for the Chrysoula, its huge, clean and great for lounging next to. The bar area is also the Chrysoula's reception desk. Food and drink are slightly dearer than other places but then its the convenience factor. We had fantastic weather whilst we stayed in Kos and came home tanned and relaxed. Our only dissapointment was how far the 'centre' of Kefalos is to the Chrysoula - 1.8 miles to the harbour. We soon got used to walking down the main road to this area but felt the brochure descriptions are fairly misleading, whilst there are other restaurants closer than this, we weren't aware really of the distance we'd have to walk but soon got used to a good walk each evening. The beach is very close by and also very quiet. Very, very friendly people wherever we went. For a quiet, relaxing holiday we'd recommend it not if you are young and want somewhere lively.
fantastic relaxing place to stay
Just returned from Chrysoula apartments where my wife and my two kids have stayed for a week. We found the apartments to be clean , roomy and close to all the amenities. The swimming pool is massive for this size of complex with plenty of room for sunbathing .Probably the best thing we found about Kefalos is the friendliness of the locals. The hotel is family run and the hosts were great.Try their homemade chips at the pool bar.The supermarket by the apartments ,Supermarket Jim, is well stocked, Dimitris and his wife who run it were just brilliant. We didn,t need a rep or tour guide we just asked them and they pointed us in the right direction.Eating out then we would recommend The Rainbow close to the beach.Run by Mike ,food is delicious ! three courses for 8 euros and free greek lessons! Overall this is a resort which is traditional, laid back and relaxing if you req nightlife then Kardemena a few miles up the road may be for you. We will definately return ,this was probably the best holiday we have had , unfortunately it only lasted one week.
Very nice and friendly
Very nice hotel with rooms cleaned every second day, Briliant pool, unfortunately no actual reception so bags are left under an awning when you have late departure. Quiet resort but very friendly. Dimitri the owner of Jims Supermarket at the bottom of the road is a great guy and very helpful. His english is good and his wife speaks very good english. Still its good to learn how to say hello, thanks and goodbye. Juts make an effort Dimitri will help. If going to Bodrum get the local bus at 7.30 am 3.6e each way and get the jetboat over 20e + 4e tax this includes a tour of Bodrum but dont be tempted by the gold shop at the end unless you have lots of money.
fantastic
Stayed in the chrysoula apartments in kefelos, kos for 2 weeks from 15th august to the 30th august! second time we have been to kefelos and it was absolutly fantastic! The apartments themselves were brilliant, clean well equipt with microwave, hobs, fridge/freezer, safe, aircon (5euros perday well worth it!!!!) big balcony with chairs and table etc. The resort has a swimming pool, bar with food, pool table, ping pong table, internet, playstation and lots more. it is run by a greek family and they are brilliant, i dont think they stop working for sleep, they are always there and soooo friendly and cant do enough for u. The closest part of the beach is a 3 minute walk down the road. the whole beach is probably about a mile and curves around the harbour the whole length of kefelos. It isnt a livley, clubby place, it is quiet and chilling but does have bars and tavernas and a couple of livlier bars on the harbour which are good! 15 minutes taxi and you can have a good night out in kardamina though. i could carry on and on but basically if u r thinking of booking this place BOOK it and if u have already u will love it!!! the only bad thing is that we had to come back. if you are going please say hi to the couple who run jims supermarket on the corner from the chrysoula!! we will be returning there again definatly. email me for more information
Excellent pool area
We have just returned from a two week break at the Chyrsoula Apartments. We booked a one bedroomed apartment for two of us - definitely worth it for the extra space. The apartment was basic; not really for self catering, but excellent for keeping things in the fridge, and we had a really large balcony area. Bathroom, as always in Greece, was a challenge. The pool and pool bar cannot be faulted, although we did not eat at the bar (except for the odd ice cream and pork scratchings!) The poolside is large enough for four rows of sunbeds, all with good covers and a brolly between two. For those who like to bake all day, the sun is on one side, for those who don't , shade is possible with the aid of the brolly all day. There are no restrictions re drinking around the pool, and it is so large that there was room for children, adults, and lilos. The only let down was the cleaning of the apartment - it could be timed in seconds - but the upside was our apartment was cleaned quite late in the day so there was no early morning alarm call. The complex was quiet and our apartment was away from the road. although some apparently suffered from the dustcart early morning. The location is good; there are restaurants and bars very close by, or if you are feeling energetic, a walk around the harbour is a good way to alleviate sunbed fatigue. The resort is flat, so it is not too strenuous. The bus to Kos town was good value (tip, walk down to the next bus stop to stand a chance of a seat on busy days) and it also goes to the old village - worth a visit but the time lag between buses means you need to be prepared to spend some time in a bar! Overall, an excellent place to unwind. The food in the resort was good, although perhaps a little like "tourist greek food" if I was being very critical, with chips in most places being standard on the side. Finally, watch the weight limit coming back - they make no allowances, even if there have been extra allowances in the UK for security measures that mean your baggage is heavier than normal!
Excellent place to stay
I went to Kos in May and stayed at the Chrysoula apartments for two weeks in one of their studies and enjoyed it very much. The apartments are family run and they are very nice people!. Chrysoula and Vasillis do a perfect job of running the place and bar. My girlfriend and I are both in our early 20's and despite most perhaps thinking Kefalos would not be the place for us because of the lack of nightlife, we had an excellent holiday. Arriving at the studios, we got what we expected for a self catering apartment, basic but spotlessly clean. The whole studio smelt of bleach when we first arrived so it must have been clean! On our transfer we got to see some of the other hotels in Kefalos, some half way up a mountain-beautiful views but very inpractical. The Chrysoula apartments were perfectly situated, it has a large 25 metre pool with lane lines and a childrens section, a well priced pool bar open til 2am! (food was beautiful try the Tzatiki) and less than a 5min walk to the nearest beach! Our room was one of the four studio rooms they have (block A), it featured a balcony, cable tv (but only 3 channels at the time: BBC world, MTV and Bloomberg!?!), air con and security safe (at a price), hairdryer, large mirror, kitchen: sink, toaster, microwave, electric cooker, fridge and cutlery. Bathroom has a shower. The room also has a waredrobe with plenty of hangers and a iron and iron board. A telephone too. But it had two single beds which were separated by a bedside table between them, so we just moved the small table and pushed the beds together, wasnt a problem. Because the apartments are self catering there is not really any entertainment organised by them, however we did have a good evening on the Tuesdays BBQ night; a huge plate of thier best grilled, and a few quiz's which the Thomas cook rep hosted. Next to the bar they have a large 'conservatory' type room which features a pool table, fusball table, ping pong table, a large plasma TV for watching DVD films (which they have a selection of films for you to watch for free!) and cable tele, a PC for internet use, and 3 14" TVs with 3 Playstation2's hooked up to them!! not bad eyh! There is also plenty if seating inside it consisting of about 5 2seater 'leather' sofa's. What we enjoyed most about Kefalos was eating out, we did so every night and found it very affordable. As our tour rep also mentioned, you cannot get a bad meal in Kefalos! and for once the rep was right! Out of the restaurants our favourite has to be one called 'Rainbow'. We sound very biased about this but after trying out about 6 different ones, we decided we couldnt beat Rainbow a family run restaurant situated right on the beach and only a 10min stroll from the hotel. Beautiful fresh food included fish and amazing value set meals. We had a 3course meal with lobster salad, chicken ceasar and natural greek yogart with honey for only 8.50 euros!! And HUGE portions. Give it a go! Car hire next to the hotel is very good, called Manolis, we hired a Suzuki Samuari Jeep for 2 days at €55 and a Quad bike at €12 a day, i think their cheapest cars were 1.0 daewoo matiz and similar for €20 a day. There are two supermarkets very close the apartments too, a very nice couple run the supermarket opposite which i recommend. Trips you can do from here are: Turkey for a day, Nissiros island volcano and Kos town. If your looking for a clubbing holiday, kefalos isnt the place to, although it has two clubs, the place in Kos for clubs is Kardemena. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be back, Kos as a whole is very nice, and the food is incredible everywhere you go.
